"jura2 Please tell me that you don't really believe that last post of yours."

Not only would I assume that Jura would not write it if she doesn't believe it but I agree with what she said and I imagine half the country does, more of less.

You seem to think Wally, that whatever opinion you hold, simply because you hold it makes it a fact - it doesn't. To much reading of the Daily Heil perhaps?

Anniebach Fri 26-Jan-18 19:45:04

Thank you Primrose, I will look for it , Benn stood for leadership against Kinnock in 1987/8, he had less than 20% of the votes . I know many voters were concerned when he linked the party with Marxism and praised chairman Mao as a great figure of the century , voters were struggling with the many strikes , not a wise move

lemongrove Fri 26-Jan-18 20:30:47

Are you saying that Momentum are now bribing people with ‘unwanted food’ whitew in Lancaster?
I wouldn’t put anything past them.

lemongrove Fri 26-Jan-18 20:31:57

If things go too far left the LP are heading for even more wilderness years!

lemongrove Fri 26-Jan-18 20:33:08

They have now lost three GE’s in a row after all.

Day6 Fri 26-Jan-18 20:41:54

"take it to a Friends Meeting House. But no politics are talked about"

Nothing surprising there given Quakers worship in silence. Let us not forget that acts of kindness and compassion for those in need are happening all over the country every day, many in churches and church halls. No one feels the need to say "Look at me. Look at what I've done." Nor do they publicise or promote their acts of charity.

whitewave Fri 26-Jan-18 20:42:35

What a cynical and extraordinary thing to say lemon

So sad that you can’t accept that there are genuine people who care and are doing something to help.

Jalima1108 Fri 26-Jan-18 20:43:08

It’s barely scratching the surface, but Lancaster and District Homeless Action Service, The Robert Gillow pub and Halton’s People’s Cafe have all recently launched food interception projects, and now Lancaster Community Labour Club is also getting savvy with the idea.

Momentum collect unwanted food from a warehouse, take it to a Friends Meeting House. But no politics are talked about, the members of momentum are living what they believe. Members pay £3 a week and get back about £30-£40 of food to take home.

Savvy Savvy indeed, well done, but it wasn't their idea and there are many people doing this all over the country.

We waste an enormous amount of food in this country and I applaud anyone who does something to help feed those less well off, often without publicity.

X post Day6

Jalima1108 Fri 26-Jan-18 20:45:18

There are thousands and thousands whitewave, quietly caring and helping but without wanting publicity and public acclaim.

lemongrove Fri 26-Jan-18 20:46:44

Yes, I am cynical about what Momentum do.

Jalima1108 Fri 26-Jan-18 20:51:39

There is a need and it would be a good bandwagon to jump on for political expediency or even for altruistic motives.

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt.
However, I wonder how many people know the name of our local non-conformist church which does the same? hmm

whitewave Fri 26-Jan-18 20:58:29

I genuinely believe after listening to the lady who started it was entirely motivated by altruistic reasons. Anyone who cares sufficiently is in my book to be admired. She is living her beliefs.

There is so much need out there that there is room for many individuals willing to care. I would never mock or stand in judgement to those doing good.

Women are being suspended from the LP this week for saying men who self-identify as women should not be included in all-women shortlists.

That is disgraceful.
Women everywhere should be questioning this Labour policy which gives men (who can tick a box saying they 'identify' as women) the right to take positions designated for women. Aren't there any feminists amongst Labour MPs?

This is a backwards move, showing such a lack of respect for the rights women have fought long and hard for over centuries.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 26-Jan-18 21:06:44

It is not just a Labour view, just as your view will be held by many Labour party members. It's not easy, it culturally new for our society to confront and make decisions on. It needs discussion and debate and people need to put feel all views are valued. Or is it that we have reached they stage where only your views are right Day6?

lemongrove Fri 26-Jan-18 21:12:17

The Labour Party gave the job as womens officer ( or some such title) to a young man who identifies as a woman...he is not a woman, and that is indeed disgraceful and being PC for the sake of it.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 26-Jan-18 21:30:20

The Labour Party gave the job as womens officer ( or some such title) to a young man who identifies as a woman...he is not a woman, and that is indeed disgraceful and being PC for the sake of it.

Why? And more to the point why do you think you get to say?

lemongrove Fri 26-Jan-18 21:43:46

Maybe, just maybe, because that job has been done by a woman, it’s a job demanding the understanding of women for women.
I get to say because it’s my opinion and this is the sort of thread to say it on.

POGS Fri 26-Jan-18 21:55:04

" You seem to think Wally, that whatever opinion you hold, simply because you hold it makes it a fact - it doesn't. "

" Or is it that we have reached they stage where only your views are right Day6?"

I want to hear more opinions from Wally and views from Day 6.

I want to hear your opinions and views Gracesgran even if the opinion you hold does not make them fact.

I want to hear more of your views Gracesgran even if I may feel we have reached the stage where you consider only your views are right.

Anybody who believes posters do not have a right to air their views and opinions has a problem on an open forum surely.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 26-Jan-18 22:00:10

You do Lemons. You get to say it is your opinion not fact.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 26-Jan-18 22:04:30

I want to hear more opinions from Wally and views from Day 6.

I am happy to hear anyone's opinions POGS. What I am not so happy to hear is someone telling me their way is the only way - that is just a bid for a dictatorship.

Primrose65 Fri 26-Jan-18 22:06:11

Why? And more to the point why do you think you get to say?

So is self-identification OK for other protected characteristics GG? Or only gender? I think that's just wrong. There are protected characteristics for a reason.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 26-Jan-18 22:08:08

I want to hear more of your views Gracesgran even if I may feel we have reached the stage where you consider only your views are right.

As you are getting very personal POGS, and I report all personal comments because I am so fed up with people dredging those depths, you might like to quote where I have said or implied my view is the right or only one. You may feel that but I think you will find that I don't put my views over in that way.

POGS Fri 26-Jan-18 22:10:23

" I am happy to hear anyone's opinions POGS. What I am not so happy to hear is someone telling me their way is the only way - that is just a bid for a dictatorship."

No I am not happy with posters who tell me their way is the only way either , not a bid for dictatorship in my opinion but certainly narcissistic and neither Day 6 or Wally display such tendencies .

That is my opinion.

Primrose65 Fri 26-Jan-18 22:11:56

It needs discussion and debate and people need to put feel all views are valued. Or is it that we have reached they stage where only your views are right

For the Labour Party, they are already suspending members who do not agree! They have reached the stage where only their view is right. I'm afraid they disagree with discussion and debate.

Wes Streeting and Angela Rayner are part of a group, along with Momentum activists and others, who are actively lobbying for suspension and expulsion from the party. They have a hit list of several women (over 30) and are working their way through it.
