She has her moments, but Emily Thornberry has an unfortunate habit of sneering when she answers a question. Shame because she is a very capable person. She just can't help herself.

Apparently Marxism is growing in our universities, and students being asked by the Marxist Student Groups to vote for Corbyn when the time comes.
Will they have grown out of that stage by then?Hopefully yes.
I feel and think as your 56 year old man Day6, watching and hearing daily the destruction of the Labour Party, I know some labour MP's who are in despair seeing this happen to a party they were so proud to join and represent .
Momentum training days are certaintly turning out some dung
A new set of norms has been created in the Haringey Labour Party" The Times further commented "After the local elections in May, Momentum is almost certain to control Haringey council, which is safely Labour and it's £800m budget. In the past few months, 17 sitting Labour councillors have been replaced with pro Momentum candidates following a string of purges
That IS very scary!
Presumably all the moderates have thrown in the towel and are staying quiet rather than upsetting the Momentum apple-cart? Why have more Labour MPs capitulated? There was out and out war between the split party just over a year ago.
I'd want my Labour MP to question the control Momentum and Jon Lansman is exerting. There is a bit of ethnic cleansing going on within the party. Working classes will never vote for Communism. Real socialists are being replaced by young, hard left anti-establishment activists looking to change Britain. Just who does this party now represent? Students? Young middle class people yelling that life is hard? Old middle class liberal academics who feel they have to be left wing on all sorts of faux politically correct grounds?
I spoke to one 56 yr old dyed-in-the-wool Labour supporter last night who pointed out that these blinkered types with an agenda have no right to hijack the party and haven't a clue about life as it's lived by the most unfortunate. He ripped up his membership card last week as he refuses to support Communism or have these Corbynistas represent him. It was an interesting chat.

I would happily bet there are lists of MPs who they want to deselect. The LP now has so many lists of people.
Here's the one for people they are currently watching as they are collecting 'evidence' of transphobia. You can get on that list by writing a blog post like this
kaygreen.blog/2017/12/31/dear-labour-party-there-are-some-women-you-have-forgotten/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
It's fine for John McDonnell to refer to Ester McVey in parliament, so it's reported in Hansard, as a stain of inhumanity.
Writing a blog post asking if the LP has forgotten some women will get you reported to compliance.
Big Brother is watching - especially your social media accounts and anything you write in the public domain.
Not that it matters at the moment though.
Must say I can’t stand Thornberry at all, patronising and arrogant.Keir Starmer a bit of an unknown but looks and sounds like he may be Leader material.
"Lest we forget"
Not me
They are not socialists, they hide behind the name
I dislike Thornberry , she wants to be leader and would stab Corbyn in the back if it would help her. Yes she apologise - after she was sacked, what matters is not what her brother drives but she mocked white man van. It is forgotten when she was asked about abolishing grammer schools but had sent children to public schools she replied - I want the best for my children and all children. She paid for the best for her children the daft bat . She yapped on about affordable housing yet her husband bought a council house for one of her aides to live in. She is also part owner of two London properties.
She is Lady Nugee but does wish to use the title !
Didn't Emily Thornberry apologise and also point out that her brother is a 'white van man'?
From today's Sunday Times "Seven Sisters, a long thin council ward in the north London borough of Haringey, borders the orthodox Jewish area of Stamford Hill. At a meeting of the local Labour Party last month, they discussed the problem of street prostitution. "The only reason there are prostitutes in this ward is because of the Jews" so said one of the activists. No one said a word. No action was taken" said one senior Haringey Labour member. "Everyone, including him, just carried on with the discussion, and it was one of the COUNTLESS examples, including things like open hate material being shared on the Tottenham Labour Facebook forum. A new set of norms has been created in the Haringey Labour Party" The Times further commented "After the local elections in May, Momentum is almost certain to control Haringey council, which is safely Labour and it's £800m budget. In the past few months, 17 sitting Labour councillors have been replaced with pro Momentum candidates following a string of purges"
I know there is one GN who posts regularly how she worries the far right will unleash a violent campaign apropos of the Brexit vote being reversed. Personally I have a much greater fear of the Momentum arm of the Labour party seizing power. We have already heard how John McDonnell has called for the lynching of Esther McVey. That and the appalling anti semitism that now exists among that arm of the party, their desire to censor opposition. Jeremy Corbyn's mantra of "for the many not the few" would soon be reversed to "the few" that's how extreme socialism works, where has it ever benefited the many.
Thornberry was the MP who sneered at white van man....took photos and tweeted about his patriotism. How soon we forget! This Labour MP hasn't a clue. She really does not relate to working class people. She had to resign her position in the Shadow Cabinet because she was a snobbish embarrassment to the Labour Party.
How soon we forget!
"At worst, she had shown her (and therefore Labour’s) contempt for the patriotic working classes. According to the prime minister, David Cameron, “effectively what this means is Ed Miliband’s Labour party sneers at people who work hard, who are patriotic and who love their country. And I think that’s completely appalling.”
"And it played perfectly into the narrative of the main political parties being a bunch of out-of-touch metropolitan elites. The tweet was particularly disastrous as Thornberry is MP for Islington, an area of London long a byword for rich, bourgeois cultural and political elitism." The above from the Guardian.
Vile woman! Sadly these middle class out of touch types hide within the Labour Party now. They are not the sort of people who should be making decisions for the less fortunate. I am surprised Corbyn and co tolerate her.
I think the next leader should be Thornberry
Oh I saw her at a forum thingy last year and - ugh- she was so arrogant and imperious. I really didn't warm to her at all. Isn't she the one who is Lady So and So in real life? She really came across as a champagne socialist with a sort of patronising attitude towards the less fortunate. I don't often dislike people on one showing but she didn't do herself any favours. Funnily enough I can see her cosying up to Blair rather than Corbyn. She'd not get down and dirty with Momentum but she is using their surge to aid her own fortunes. I think she is an insincere career politician and blows with the wind. Horrible woman!
So frustrating to see such good , experienced MP's on the back benches whilst the shadow cabinet has so many newbies with no experience
Well, they're obviously expecting a landslide victory Annie under comrade Corbyn
Corbyn refused to attend a cross party meeting with the Libs, Greens, SNP, and Plaid to discuss staying in the single market, he has been accused of being with the hard right brexiteers in this
loopylou
"No, well, they will want supreme control to get through their nationalisation program and increases in taxation etc."--
" We need to look very carefully at the terms of any trade relationship, because at the moment we are part of the single market, obviously,” he told the BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show. “That has within it restrictions on state aid and state spending."
“That has pressures on it, through the European Union, to privatise rail, for example, and other services. I think we have to be quite careful about the powers we need as national governments.”
Who said that , Corbyn to Andrew Marr, that's when Labour said they would end Free Movement of People and therefore be out of the Single Market.
Now? Who knows it looks like Labour want to Remain in the EU , it depends on the day and who they are speaking to.
I think you're right loopyloo. There are articles in the press today saying that will cost £176 billion.
As a benchmark, the bank bailout was £133 billion cash at the peak and is £44 billion now. (According to the National Audit Office)
I find that pretty frightening, especially when McDonnell says it will cost nothing. I think it would hit the poorest people too - the wealthy are already putting plans in place to protect their assets, the FT has written articles about it.
Primrose
I would like to see Thornberry as Leader to be honest.
Not because I have respect for her, more to do with how the Labour Heartlands would react to her as Leader.
No, well, they will want supreme control to get through their nationalisation program and increases in taxation etc.
I think the next leader should be Thornberry - it will need to be a woman. It makes them look outdated otherwise in my opinion. I think you've made a valid point about McDonnell being elected by Momentum though POGS - I cannot see him winning a general election though.
Sadiq Khan hasn't made much of a mark as London mayor.
One thing I have noticed is that Labour is not building any bridges with other opposition parties. There are posts on social media knocking Clegg, LP videos knocking the SNP .....
They should have lemon , the fears of the disaster that was the SDP was strong
Agreed, and now they can make whatever rules suit them!
The Labour MP’s should have broken away from Corbyn after the no confidence vote and started another Party.
The Moderate Labour Party.
