Continuity of previous thread.

It is interesting to know that the Tories have chosen the environment as one of the focuses in order to try and tackle the young vote.

This morning I read that this failing government (shades of Trumpgrin is refusing to sign up to the EUs plan to tackle plastic waste.

A prime example f this government shooting itself in the foot on a number of levels.

I see Gove is facing scrutiny over his handling of a school sexual abuse case.

It is alleged that he tried to intervene, by making phone calls to the LA and others. He denies the charge.

One of the school governors is Rees-Moggs mother.

Guardian report.

Government pretends that parliament has two choices. Take what is offered or cliff face come Brexit.

Lying!! As usual.

Court ruled that parliament can vote To Remain.

The environment agency has become aware of the illegal dumping of foodstuffs in the Thames

DUP paid £33000 to CA in its Brexit campaign.

My question is where did it get the money.

The whisper is Banks a friend of Farage and Analytica’s boss, Mercer.

Just reading this re-tweeted by Tom London

CA is an offshoot of the SCL group which lists the ministry of Defence as one of its clients.

Members of the SCL board include Tory Lords, Tory donors and military officers.

This scandal goes to the heart of the Tory Party,

Ian Dunt tweeting about Mogg

“A posh man weeping as he fondles dead fish just about sums up the Brexit metaphor”

whitewave Tue 20-Mar-18 09:37:44

Rees-Mogg is spouting more rubbish about how much better off the poor will be after Brexit

More lies the leave voters will take in.

Brexiter play people like fish on a line

whitewave Tue 20-Mar-18 07:54:51

Yes that’s the one about Rees-Moggs illicit investments, no doubt there is a lot more where that came from.

whitewave Tue 20-Mar-18 07:53:37

Just seen your post gg about the bad news May is trying to bury. We are being criticised by the UN over our treatment of the disabled. What a disgrace.

I see Rees-Mogg is furious, which can only give me cheer.
The drama queen is going to throw dead fish into the Thames. Better he gave it to the poor.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 20-Mar-18 07:49:37

The madness of Jacob Rees-Mogg – he has cash invested in a blacklisted RUSSIAN bank

Was this the JRM scandal you were talking about whitewave? I seem to have missed something but this has just come up on my FB page.

£46 million.

Tax payers money thrown down the drain by Johnson over his vanity project the garden bridge.

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 18:17:00

Interesting to see how long, if ever, it takes the MSM to talk about Rees-Mogg money scandal.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 17:18:54

Five bits of bad news Theresa May hoped she could bury under the Russia panic. These might be why Theresa May is being so aggressive about the poisoning incident.

* A 12.4% increase in excess deaths
* End of free school meals
* 1.5 million children destined for poverty
*Shocking rise in disability poverty
*A judge ruled that around 160 homeless people should be evicted onto the streets rather than shelter in a building left empty by its owner for five years.

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 13:08:12

? I think that they are simply gearing up towards May elections and trying to avoid a complete wipe out, which looked almost certain at one point.

The MSM is certainly helping them to avoid such a disaster, I wonder what the payback is?

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 13:04:26

Whitewave, Lewis said yesterday that the tories have gained another 6,000 members since January - but they still will not tell us how many they have as they do not collect figures centrally.

If that is the case, how do they know they have another 6,000 members?

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 12:59:21

Depressing, isn't it?

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 12:57:43

I think it all simply shows our inability to control events, despite our rhetoric, our global influence has been largely tied to the EU, and this will now recede rapidly.

Something else the government seems to have forgotten about, particularly Boris.
Didn't he say no stone unturned?

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 09:16:19

I see Bradley -Tory mp is charged with starting up a new young tory group.

I hope he attracts a more savoury lot of members this time as they have previously had to be abandoned because of bullying and didn’t they at one time call for Mandela to be hanged?

GracesGranMK2 Sat 17-Mar-18 12:09:38

Thanks for the link Maizie.

... hospitals and schools are facing difficulties that the government must show it is trying to tackle.

Must show - how about actually doing something? It doesn't fill me with hope.

durhamjen Sat 17-Mar-18 12:07:53

Same as their idea of affordable housing. Not my idea.
I was reading today that the government has just won a court case against single parents of children under two.
These single parents said they were discriminated against in the workplace, as parents of children over two get help with childcare costs.
The parents won the first time; DWP appealed and have now won the appeal.
Now the parents can go to the high court to appeal against the appeal.
If the government had wanted to be a government that works for everyone, it would not have appealed in the first place.

May is about to make a speech to partly address this issue, apparently:

In a speech that has echoes her infamous “nasty party” warning 16 years ago, the prime minister will say hospitals and schools are facing difficulties that the government must show it is trying to tackle.

While always defending our record in office, we also need to accept that our public services today do face real challenges and we must be clear about the action we are taking to help them,” she will tell the Tories’ spring conference in central London

Her comments are likely to raise the hopes of MPs who have been calling on ministers to boost NHS spending through new tax rises, with changes expected in the autumn budget.

There's more but it makes me so cross just to read it...

Do you think they will bother Jen. Let's face it, it was there policies that have brought this about so presumably they will just stand by and watch - as the Tories have done all through their recent governments, sadly.

May talks the talk but she certainly doesn't walk the walk and I get the impression that her idea of "just managing" would not be the same as mine.

durhamjen Sat 17-Mar-18 09:07:05

Can't wait for the government response to that report, GracesGran, to see how keen they are to work with the commission to achieve May's dream of a country that works for everyone.
Did you detect a bit of sarcasm in that paragraph?
Call my bluff?

GracesGranMK2 Sat 17-Mar-18 08:54:32

Looking at the above report you can only hope Phillip Hammond has the guts to do what needs to be done, Jen.
