In answer to" had I read the thread", yes I had. However, I cannot think of any reason the Labour Party would want her or anyone like Ken Livingston in the party. To have them in the first place would indicate they condone their behaviour. That is up to the majority of Labour members who find such views repellent to stand up and be counted and say so. I know we have freedom of speech in this country, but that womans comments were base and disgusting, she obviously hates the lot of us.

Ken has never been one of my favourite Labour people and age hasn't improved him in my eyes. However, the LP has always been what used to be called a broad Church.

Someone with dual heritage will have a good idea of what it feels like to be discriminated against. Many of our major cities and wealth was built on slavery. I'm proud that so many people in this country campaigned to end slavery but no one can deny it existed and its legacy continues.
We can dislike the way someone expresses their views but she wasn't inciting hatred or saying anything that doesn't have some truth in it.

I had some unkind thoughts about Bergdorf's picture in the paper this morning. Low décolletage revealing stuck on, rather unconvincing breasts. This wasn't a transphobic thought; I'd have the same thoughts about any obviously false breast enhancements. I prefer natural with all its imperfections and I think the endless striving for supposed physical perfection is a major factor in the reported increasing mental health problems in young women. Young men too but rather less so according to reports.

It's prejudice. I could go back further but CARE. There is a general theme on this thread that Bergdorf because. of one or two partial quotes is unfit for the role. That is prejudice.

Why did I post the above?

Because Bergdorf has been given the opportunity to 'state' her opinion on various platforms and she does not shy away from ' stating ' that in her opinion ' ALL ' white people in the UK are ' irredeemably racist ' and the ' white race is the most violent and oppressive force of nature on earth".

Bergdorf is an eloquent speaker/debater but I think it is not beyond the wit of man if Shadow women and equalities secretary Dawn Butler considers Bergdorf to be a suitable member to advise on a Labour Party LGBT+ advisory board then obviously comments will be made.

Strangely enough, none of the papers I normally look at have a photo of Bergdorf's breasts today.
I wonder why that is.

That's why I asked the question, because Baggs put in her interpretation that Bergdorf said ALL white people in the UK are irredeemably racist, whereas Bergdorf did not say that at all.
She is equating Andrew Neill's WE with All white people in the UK.

So POGS do you not accept that much of our country's wealth is built on the exploitation of other races and other countries? In particular the sugar and slave trade. That there was a real and sustained attempt to paint black people as uncivilised and uneducated. That the policy of extending Christianity to other parts of the world caused much suffering. That is what she means by our society being built on racism.
As far as history goes she is also right. Only recently have the stories of people like Mary Seacole and Frederick Douglass come to light.

I hope she does stay in the post as 'advisor' as this will backfire spectacularly on the Labour Party.
