Simple title so should be easy to update everyone with any bits of knowledge we gain.

When did the meaning of the word disagree become translated to attack & attacking ,thats a very aggressive outlook you have GG , just lighten up & the threads will become more enjoyable ( for everyone)

durhamjen Thu 15-Mar-18 21:03:23

Have you read this Craig Murray post, GracesGran?

www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2018/03/the-novichok-story-is-indeed-another-iraqi-wmd-scam/

Too long to cut and paste as there are too many important points.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:56:31

Don't misquote just for the sake of the opportunity to attack in the future and you won't have to Day6.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:55:38

I'm not sure that actually proves anything Day6. I was surprised to see the paper had taken that long to report this -the TV news programmes were reporting it last week - until I saw the date on the article.

Day6 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:51:01

I cannot be bothered to read you anymore GG.

<sigh>

GracesGranMK2 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:48:17

Back to attacking people lemongrove - not just me this time I notice - with not a word about the politics. Is that really all you come on here for?

Day6 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:46:58

From The Independent.

"A video has re-emerged online that shows Vladimir Putin issuing apparent death threats to Russia’s “traitors”.

The footage from 2010 was shared widely hours after a retired double agent, Sergei Skripal, was allegedly poisoned in Salisbury.

In the clip the Russian President is seen warning that those who betray the country would face consequences."

Traitors will kick the bucket, believe me. Those other folks betrayed their friends, their brother in arms, Mr Putin said.

Whatever they got in exchange for it, those 30 pieces of silver they were given, they will choke on them.

"The case drew immediate comparison to the murder of former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko using radioactive polonium-210 believed to have been administered in a cup of tea."

Oh for goodness sake any one would think we were in a court of law! Opinions are opinions & can either be agreed with or disagreed with. GG you really need to lighten up a bit, this is supposed to be an enjoyable exchange , perhaps it is the wrong place for someone who wants to dot every I & cross every T.?

lemongrove Thu 15-Mar-18 20:38:09

Oh give it a rest GGM2

lemongrove Thu 15-Mar-18 20:37:16

That is a great description Day6
‘This squashy pacifist is too easily turned into the instrument of bad men’ ....... ( another way to put it is ‘a useful idiot’)

durhamjen Thu 15-Mar-18 20:37:13

No it isn't, bmacca. Sorry.
That article is about Brexit.
Possibly what the government wants to hide, that they are giving in to the EU on transition.
Getting closer to what the labour party want on Brexit, though.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:34:53

Day6. I wrote
I think we would find we couldn't keep those countries who are so far supporting us onside if this didn't happen.

You quoted it as
I think we would find we couldn't keep those countries who are so far supporting us onside.
with no acknowledgement that this was not where the sentence stopped. You then used it as the basis of this attempted accusation:

I hope you are not suggesting those countries might be ... sitting on the fence - because they haven't. Their support was instant and unequivocal, not limited, conditional and begrudging.

If you had quoted me in full with the words if this didn't happen, which alluded to the fact that Boris Johnson has agreed to send the Novochok sample to the “international organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons” for investigation your attempt at an accusation - which suited you but was nothing to do with me - simply wouldn't have made sense. You edited it to make sense of your attempted accusation. As it wouldn't done so had you used it in full you obviously did change the meaning.

You are often outspoken but this goes beyond that Day6.

lemongrove Thu 15-Mar-18 20:33:42

Some posters are tying themselves in knots to desperately try and show Corbyn in a good light! It would be funny if it were not so pathetic.
He himself is back pedalling as much as possible now and agrees it looks like it was Russia that was responsible.
Too late.....

durhamjen Thu 15-Mar-18 20:32:53

infacts.org/uk-caves-transition-laws-vassal-status-beckons/

Bmacca's quotes from this article.
Exactly, bmacca.

Day6 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:27:31

This sentence caught my eye in an article in The Times today.

This squashy pacifist is too easily turned into the instrument of bad men.

I think in so very few words it sums up all the worries of those suspicious of Corbyn's leadership and intentions. The Russian problem highlights it.

The article is well worth a read.

Day6 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:23:40

Exactly. hmm

Primrose65 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:15:34

What's the problem? The post was a couple of lines above the reply. We can all see what was originally written.
confused

Day6 Thu 15-Mar-18 20:01:01

"And then you post a misquote, clipping where it suits you and therefore making it not a quote."

GG - go and have a look. I quoted your words and did not change the context at all in not quoting the complete sentence. There is no obligation at all, ever, to quote everyone in full, unless of course the meaning is changed and maligns the poster. That is not the case.

No lies were put in your mouth GG. You are going to have to explain that one, because it's patently untrue.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 15-Mar-18 19:49:17

Good grief - there you go again GG. Are you a frustrated teacher or something?

I am not any sort of teacher Day6, frustrated or otherwise. I do not care what else you quoted but you misquoted me and I do not appreciate having lies being put in my mouth.

bmacca Thu 15-Mar-18 19:43:30

Given news shared today, then it appears Corbyn was right in his call to follow due process in a sensitive international diplomatic situation which could have far-reaching implications if handled badly.
Invoke the UN – check
Involve international allies – check
Call on Russia to cooperate with the OPCW – check
Take a measured approach – ‘highly likely’ (joint statement) rather than the categoric Tory claims yesterday and the adventurist Labour ‘unequivocal’ – check
Maintaining standards of diplomacy and legal evidence is vital to make sure we keep the moral high ground in this situation. But sure, its much better to have the 'grown ups' like Gavin Williamson telling Russia to 'shut up and go away'

I did start a thread from a woman in Ghouta but did not get much response.

durhamjen Thu 15-Mar-18 19:28:01

Like to know what the people of Syria and Yemen think about all this.
