Did you GG ,
Books we loved when we were young
Simple title so should be easy to update everyone with any bits of knowledge we gain.
Did you GG ,
Now there was me thinking judgement and vengeance where the Lords in your little world Annie.
It doesn’t mean loving those who come here to kill using a rare nerve agent GG thankfully. Not does being a Christian mean accepting rubbish put forward by anyone.
I think that the government have acted rightly and proportionately in what they are saying and doing, in fact I think Russia ( for all it’s bluster) expected worse.
However it’s still something that will act as a thorn in it’s side. What country would allow such a thing to go completely unpunished?
Yes, I can believe your way of thinking would work that way GG.
Christ criticised the Pharisees for their hypocrisy GG, all I do is criticise Corbyn for his hypocrisy
You never miss an opportunity to attack any posters who says they are a Christian GG it’s a curious thing, since you never do this for any other religion.
Your last comment to Annie was very typical of you.....and you have the brass neck to accuse others of ‘being personal’.
Yes GGMk2, of course, she could have done more. I don't know if she should have, I'm always against using every you have to hand as a first response.
What about you - what do you think she should've done.
I hope May isn’t playing a dangerous game of Russian Roulette.
It seems obvious to me that this nerve gas attack was probably an assassination attempt on an ex Russian spy (yes unfortunately his daughter and a policeman were badly affected too) but I don’t see that it’s an “attack on British Sovereignty” as some want to see it.
Starting a new Cold War might make Theresa May look “strong and stable” but Corbyn is right to be more cautious.
Blair and the WMD leading to the Iraq war comes to mind.
Using a deadly nerve gas in the UK mostly ....I wonder what you would call it? An unfortunate incident?
Putin would love some of the comments on GN, he hardly needs pro Russian propaganda when he can have this stuff for free.
Pro Russian propaganda lemongrove? Hardly!
This Nerve gas attack was dangerous but threatening a nuclear power is even more of a dangerous game.
Do you really trust Russia to play fair with its nuclear weapons then lemongrove? You obviously trust Russia a great deal more than I do!
I don’t trust Putin at all mostly and we are not ‘threatening’ a nuclear power, but we are also a nuclear power since you bring this up, which shows the importance of us continuing to be so.In fact, as they say ‘you should not threaten a nuclear power’ can you imagine how we would then feel( being so threatened) if we were not a nuclear power ourselves.
They will huff and puff and nothing we are doing is of much
Bother to them, but it is much better than doing nothing!
Corbyn has now said it all points to Russia.
May just posturing really BUT... who knows what could develop when we’re threatening Russia at the same time as isolating ourselves from our European allies?
Plays into May’s hands to look stern, strong and stable. And means she gets the backing of the rabid right wing faction of Tories.
Shame she accepts millions from Russia to fund the party!
Theresa May starting another Cold War? Hardly.
She is responding quite properly to an assassination attempt which also put the lives of British people at risk and caused disruption to the city where it took place.
Russia has responded with complete indifference.
Corbyn has once again displayed his beliefs, which were obvious before; his allegiance is to Russia.
Corbyn is asking for certainty about the origin of the nerve gas. He is also asking that international protocols are followed properly.
What evidence do you have eazybee that Corbyn has an allegiance to Russia?
Corbyn is asking for certainty about the origin of the nerve gas
This is exactly why people can see right through him mostlyharmless. In this sort of situation, you will never have certainty. People in leadership positions make decisions based on the information they have, not the information they would like in a perfect scenario.
What evidence is there that international protocols are not being followed? Is he asking for something that's already happening? It's like demanding that Friday follows Thursday and then taking credit for it.
Lemon - "Corbyn wouldn’t support anything the government said on any subjecr under the sun including national security."
True. It's very silly and shortsighted of him. It's often been said that he tends to support our enemies. He doesn't seem to understand national pride. He surely HAD to support the government regarding the Russian (?) use of nerve agents on British soil. There is no alternative but condemnation and standing up to Putin and co.
One would hope he has come to his senses at last. Wonder how long we have to wait before he calls Putin 'friend' or 'comrade'?
There is apparently an international protocol about nerve gas attacks. It was talked about on the BBC a few days ago by two experts who both agreed.
It seemed to involve first establishing the origin of the gas, then approaching the country of origin and giving them ten days to respond to the complaint. (Not 24hours as May did.)
Can’t provide any links for this as it was a tv discussion.
GGM2 - You do not reason you emote wherever Corbyn - the leader of the party you are a member of - is concerned.
Here we go again. Isn't it nice that we get a critique of every posters style? I wonder if GG will be writing an end of term report for every contributor who can see Corbyn's faults and worries about the far left nature of the Labour Party? Anyone taken on board her criticism of style and content? Nope, me neither. Who appointed her board supervisor?
As for He didn't disagree with what is being done by the government but neither was he jingoistic. is making excuses for his inability to agree with the government regarding British security. His grudging support fools no one.
Could be he was sulking because there is no alternative but to stand together against Russia/or those who attempt to kill their enemies on British soil by nefarious means. Not backing the government in this case or doing it with ill-concealed reservations is extremely petty.
Another announcement fro Corbyn, he now agrees the attack came from Russia but it could have been a rogue element , still supporting Putin then
Primrose - He's less concerned with analysing a problem and finding a solution, as long as he's creating a narrative he can twist to suit his purpose. It's pretty pathetic in the circumstances.
Spot on Primrose. He is covering all the bases, and showing himself to be spineless at a time when no one, especially the leader of the opposition in parliament, can prevaricate regarding an extremely dangerous situation.
What a pitiful pair Corbyn and Thornbury looked slouching over their phones at PMQs when even their own Labour MPs condemned Corbyns speech, thank goodness the Tories are in power imagine having that pair in charge of the country, kowtowing to Putin and Juncker what a laughing stock we would be.
"Russia is just a diversion to keep our minds occupied away from the mess that is Brexit and the tories disastrous ruining of the UK."
What????? Just a diversion - deadly nerve agents unleased on British soil? Paddyann, please tell me you are not serious?
I suspect you really mean "Damn those pesky Russians doing this now, creating a national security issue and letting TM off the Brexit hook."
TM is standing firm against Barnier AND Putin. Would you rather have a politician without the courage of his convictions selling us down the river in Europe and refusing to condemn the Russian attack?
GG - I thought Christianity meant following the teachings of Christ? Wasn't loving others one of them?
A cruel barb against Annie GG Jesus was a realist too, and doing the right thing and outing villainy and greed with angry responses (money lenders in the temple anyone?) was part of his makeup. He wasn't meek and mild and accepting of tyranny. Annie expressing her disgust at the nature of a party (she has supported for many years) which has changed beyond recognition under Corbyn, is not un Christian.
Not everyone loves him you know.
To sneer at Annie's faith (anyone's faith) for political point-scoring is below the belt.
