Simple title so should be easy to update everyone with any bits of knowledge we gain.

Yes come back Screaming Lord Sutch. It’s good to challenge the established parties sometimes.
Nobody votes SDP either. They do not exist any more. A bit like MRLP.
The OMRLP still exists in fact.
In times gone by some councillors were elected and one or two of them became mayors of their towns.

Who said politics is boring?

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 00:26:50

Screaming Lord Sutch would find it difficult, though.

Anniebach Mon 19-Mar-18 08:20:08

Corbyn is a 'Johnnie come lately' I am speaking of the difference in campaigning by previous party leaders and this one.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 08:36:41

I wonder what this thread would look like if we just replied with "ad hominem" after ever personal, unsubstantiated remark, either again Corbyn and the Labour Party directly or against members who try to balance the comments?

Anniebach Mon 19-Mar-18 08:53:28

And without posters who take on the mantle of spoon twirler ?

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 09:03:52

Ad hominem

Anniebach Mon 19-Mar-18 09:09:04

I can't speak Latin but my Welsh is excellent ?

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:14:39

Maybe they have no comments about the artuments themselves, so have to attack the person.

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:15:09

Artuments? That's a good word.
Arguments.

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:16:54

You were saying he was too old before; now you are calling him a Johnny come lately.
Perhaps the way he campaigns is the more honest way. He has been campaigning and winning the artgument since 1983.

Anniebach Mon 19-Mar-18 09:17:03

Dj, do you hate T May?

Anniebach Mon 19-Mar-18 09:18:16

No Dj, he has been campaigning for himself since 1983

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:19:32

No, he's campaigned for the Labour party as an honest labour politician.

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:20:31

"Corbyn is a good man, honest and caring. Sadly lacking in so many politicians."
Who said that?

Anniebach Mon 19-Mar-18 09:20:41

By supporting deselection ? This isn't honest

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:24:02

Ad hominem.

You said it, Annie, before an election.

Anniebach Mon 19-Mar-18 09:24:47

A caring man would respect the grief of colleagues

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:26:24

So why did you say he was honest and caring?
I can't believe you did not know about who he invited to the commons until 2017.

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:31:54

Gerry Adams didn't need inviting. He's been an MP for as long as Corbyn.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 09:32:46

A caring man would respect the grief of colleagues

Ad hominem

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 09:33:50

Is there any chance of discussing policy?

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:38:00

A bit late for that, GracesGran.
Corbyn had a lot to do with the Labour Manifesto at the last election. That's why the party won so many more seats.
Not quite enough, unfortunately.
Martin McGuinness was an MP for 20 years, and deputy to May's best buddy in Northern Ireland.
A very honest stitch up there, I don't think.

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 09:40:58

Here's a thought.
Should democratically elected MPs ever be banned from going to parliament?

GracesGranMK2 Mon 19-Mar-18 09:51:12

There are rules aren't there? If you go to prison for more than 12 months (that may not be accurate) or something similar. Otherwise I certainly don't think you can start banning them just because you don't like their views, but they are not illegal - that's the death of democracy really.
