Simple title so should be easy to update everyone with any bits of knowledge we gain.

Although I sometimes feel my Labour vote doesn’t count for much in my (largely working class) constituency.

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 19:29:04

I presume all those who complain about momentum also disagree with this happening in the tory party.

Sounds a good idea for minority party voters to make their votes count.

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 19:24:01

Hope there is one for the 2018 local elections, although on present form the labour party doesn't need one.

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 19:20:20

Was it BestforBritain, Gina Miller's group at the time?

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 19:18:32

Yes, there was, mostlyharmless. A brilliant idea, I thought.

mostlyharmless Sun 18-Mar-18 19:15:48

Tactical voting? Wasn’t there a scheme whereby you could trade votes with someone in a different constituency if you wanted to vote tactically? Relatives of mine agreed to vote Labour if someone in a different constituency (Probably Brighton) voted for the Green Party?

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 19:13:02

I wouldn't suggest anyone voting for greens in primrose's constituency, as that would be a wasted vote.
Starmer increased his vote by nearly 20% at the last election. I expect him to do even better at the next one, if everyone thinks he might be the next PM.
70% of the vote - not bad.

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 19:05:20

Voting for greens or libdems is not voting against labour in a constituency where labour is fourth on the list.

lemongrove Sun 18-Mar-18 19:01:41

Oh, June mostlyh yes, into cricket season.A lot of years since I went to White Hart Lane.smile

Anniebach Sun 18-Mar-18 18:54:59

Voting for Greens or Libs is voting against Labour Dj, I do wonder why you didn't vote Labour in 2001, a floating voter perhaps ?

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 18:09:21

That's why I said if it's at all possible.
Strangely enough, it works better in the EU elections which are a form of PR.

Jalima1108 Sun 18-Mar-18 17:51:50

I have suggested that they vote to remove a Tory by voting for other parties if it's at all possible.
It doesn't work.
It just dilutes the vote.

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 17:42:49

I have never asked voters to vote against the Labour party, POGS, because there has always been a Tory government since I have been on GN.
I have suggested that they vote to remove a Tory by voting for other parties if it's at all possible. That's not against the labour party.

Sadly Spurs probably won’t be playing any matches in June lemongrove.

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 17:39:41

Annie has said she won't vote for Corbyn. What's the difference between that and me saying I wouldn't vote for Blair?

mostlyharmless Sun 18-Mar-18 17:37:47

Very dark horror type music such as “Jack the Ripper.” Apparently he was a manic depressive.

lemongrove Sun 18-Mar-18 16:58:14

Screaming Lord Such came to our Uni dance, he rolled onto the stage out of a coffin, he was so stoned he couldn’t sing and was boo-ed off.grin

lemongrove Sun 18-Mar-18 16:55:53

What fun mostlyharmless you could see a Spurs game at the same time!

Anniebach Sun 18-Mar-18 16:49:33

Voted for Blair 1997

Not 2001

Not 2005

Brown 2010 perhaps not

2015. Corbyn

Your voting record is confusing Dj

POGS Sun 18-Mar-18 15:44:56

By the way I have voted Labour and Conservative!

I have never been a member of either unless you consider being employed in a job where you were sent to Coventry by some if you did not join the Union.

POGS Sun 18-Mar-18 15:42:26

durhamjen

"I've always found it weird that Annie gets approval for saying that she has voted for Blair every time and for Corbyn once but wouldn't again, whereas anyone who says they voted for Blair once but never again is seen as a pariah, particularly by those who say they wouldn't vote for labour ever."

I think the difference is AB has always been a Labour voter but there are are other posters who have campaigned on GN for posters to vote 'against' the Labour Party and vote for The Greens, National Health Action Party, vote tactically who had no intention of voting for Blair, Brown or Ed Miliband.

This new Labour festival is trying to put fun back into politics though. (Probably because there’s no Glastonbury this year)

Labour Live is coming to White Hart Lane Rec in London this summer! On Saturday 16 June we're hosting a brand new one-day festival of music, art and politics that brings together our incredible movement.

Bridgeit Sun 18-Mar-18 15:35:56

It’s admirable to stand for peace, I think most people & MPs want Peace, but what happens if a situation arises where that choice endangers our country. Would we then require a leader who can make tough choices or one who would not be prepared to action if necessary?I don’t have an answer to this, but I think I would veer towards one who would take action if no other means would protect the country.

durhamjen Sun 18-Mar-18 15:35:06

He must have had a lot of money. Only once did he get over a thousand votes, so he must have lost a lot of deposits.
