Happy to answer Grandad. It's a bit of a diversion really, this is a LP thread.
But a quick answer - there are plenty of views that JRM holds that I disagree with. I could imagine he has opinions on things he has not expressed, or that I'm not aware of, that would make me pretty angry. I have not suggested that there should be an enquiry into Corbyn, I don't think there should be one into JRM. What's to enquire? It's all out there, people can see it.
I can't understand how people can criticise JRM and defend Corbyn. For me, there's not a significant difference. They're both in the wrong.

Hope that explains my views on JRM enough for you Grandad, if not - let's have a longer discussion on one of the Tory threads about it.

Grandad, I'm with you 100%.

However, other posters are not and I was told I was being a bully by asking for an opinion on a previous Corbyn thread.

On this forum, that's quite a serious allegation - it's actually against GN rules to call someone a bully, so they must have felt very strongly about it.

I apologised to the person who felt bullied by me asking a question and for a time after that, we all made an effort to stop asking questions.

The question I asked is
"What about your opinion? Do you think it's OK?"

Just so you are aware. I realise we don't discuss other threads, but I do think on this occasion it's needed to put everything into context. Personally, I find it difficult to have a conversation about anything without asking questions. I'm usually happy to answer any too unless it's a request for personal information about me.

It's probably OK on any other thread - it's just the ones about Corbyn where this has been a pretty recent issue.

Lemongrove, with every respect to your above posting, but I find your concept of a forum member not feeling it nessicary to answer a question requested by another forum member in regard to something they have stated somewhat inconceivable.

In the above, if anyone asks a reasonable question in any walk of life in regard to what someone has stated or done, then to not answer that question is to treat the person who asked the question with disrespect.

Equally, if you or anyone should take the trouble to attend a meeting or just read a forum such as this and then ask a question but was to find that the speaker or forum poster just ignored your question and moved on to another topic or sub topic, does that person deserve your respect or the respect of any person attending that meeting or reading that forum.

In the above, it would make a nonsense of any meeting or forum if statements or aligations can be made without any person feeling the need to answer any question in regard to what they stated. Indeed, In the foregoing all you would have taken to its limits would br a series of unsubstantiated (possibly wild untruthful allegations) by several people, all without having any connection to the statements to each other.

A forum is a place of debate. In that it is for members to make statement and question each other and therefore respect is generated throughout the forum whether anyone agrees or disagrees with what has been posted.

I don't mind all the questions, lemon. It's a bit of a feature on these threads. If it gets too silly, I just offer to start an 'ask Primrose' thread - they soon stop!



It's a good point about asking questions of people though. Some posters really don't like it, especially if it's a tough question.

Oh and the ‘inquiry’ into anti semitism led by Shami C was a disgraceful whitewash, ending with her being promoted to the House Of Lords!

Attending a dinner and speaking as a guest hardly makes JRM a white supremacist btw.
If it is shown that he is a member of a racist group on FB and regularly tweets such things, then that is different.
All this stuff about JC not realising what people are like, groups etc is hilarious.He has been denying all sorts of things ever since he became LP Leader, so have the people around him, protecting him and distancing him from dubious ‘friends’ and groups.He will be a Saint next I expect.

Grandad, thanks for the top tip on respect, however, I have never had any respect from some forum members. You had a fabulous welcome from all sides to the politics forum. That's not an experience that everyone shares.

But just to throw some more petrol onto the bonfire of respect, Corbyn made a few interesting comments up in Scotland (which I shouldn't care about, apparently)

The Brexit deal must ensure companies can't "import cheap agency labour to undercut existing pay and conditions", the UK Labour leader has said. According to STV. (They wrote 'immigrants', but he said labour, so I've changed it)

But it definitely sounds anti-immigrant to me. What's the difference between immigrant and 'imported cheap agency labour'?

The above was a guestion on in regard to your statement that four people over the age of seventy control the Labour Party.

I vote for him and I don't have as much information about him as you do.

Primrose, I think forum members would have far more respect for you if you dealt with the questions you have already been asked, rather than moving on to yet another side issue?

Corbyn got the number of Scottish LP MPs wrong, apparently, in an interview on his way to Dundee for the Scottish conference. Easy mistake when you're dealing with so many few of them. But he was confident the SNP vote will collapse and they'll win 20 more. That's OK, Jeremy, the PR team can't even spell Oliver.

Primrose, you speak of Jeremy Corbyn and others in the Labour leadership in regard to their past record on racism , but at least an inquiry has taken place on that whether you choose to dismiss that or not.

However, Jacob Rees-Mogg has in recent times attended a dinner given by the Traditional Britain Group. At that function he sat next to its president Gregory Launder-Frost, who has been recorded making vile racist statements in regard to Baroness Lawrence who's son was murdered in a racist attack several years ago.

The man Rees-Mogg sat next to ,(Gregory Lauder-Frost) has spouted bile about justice campaigner Baroness Lawrence, who he called a “n*****”.

Gregory Lauder-Frost has also referred to broadcaster Vanessa Feitz, whom he dismissed as a “fat Jewish s**g”.

Jacob Rees-Mogg has come top in a recent poll of Conservative party members as the person they think should be the next leader of the party.

Primrose, do you think that an inquiry should take place into Rees-Moggs past activity and views, or would that be just a whitewash and cover up.

Sorry you’ll have to explain that to me primrose. Corbyn does or not read some racist comments on a FB site and he is guilty of agreeing with the comments. You and millions of others see racist comments in the Daily Mail (for example about Meghan Markle, or immigrants) but are not guilty of agreeing with them.
I don’t see your logic.
Doesn’t a racist act have to be more than just hearing or seeing racism? We would all be guilty in that case.
