Oh I give up .... it’s almost becoming laughable now.

Has anyone asked themselves HOW they came out so much cheaper ?

Chewbacca Sat 24-Mar-18 21:46:21

No gillybob because the main focus seems to be that the petition was started by the DM and is therefore automatically to be discredited. confused

Gerispringer Sat 24-Mar-18 22:23:20

maybe the reason the foreign company is cheapest because they don’t pay all the fat cat bosses huge salaries and bonuses who knows, I don’t , but it maybe useful if we had all the information before we make assumptions based on guesswork. If the Guardian had started a petition for the railways to be renationalised I wonder if DM readers would be signing up as a patriotic duty. Hmm don’t think so.

GillT57 Sat 24-Mar-18 22:54:45

I will say this again; I don't care what colour my passport is. I don't want to leave the EU, I don't want to spend hours in the aliens queue at the airport. I don't give a flying fig who prints the passports. I am sick of the hysteria and hypocrisy.

gillybob Sat 24-Mar-18 23:41:07

Exactly chewwy .

What a load of tosh gerrispringer . Maybe they are doing the work for no profit at all. Maybe they are having a huge laugh at our expense. Maybe they will hold us to random in the future, maybe they are being subsidised by their government (ooops I don’t think that’s a maybe anymore) maybe they can’t do it for the price quoted, maybe they’re outsourcing to Poland, maybe..........

maryeliza54 Sat 24-Mar-18 23:47:33

Aahhh the patriotic DM - remind me again where its owners live and how much they pay in UK taxes.

ninny Sun 25-Mar-18 08:41:36

GillT57 well tough we are leaving the EU whether you want to or not.

ninny Sun 25-Mar-18 08:50:43

Gillybob I care and agree with what you are saying. We will probably hear more about this next week.
Yes Chewbacca wood and trees, pathetic isn't it, also all the Daily Mail haters it's funny though even though they claim they don't read it they seem obsessed with it. Of course the Daily Mirror being a Labour rag is never criticised.

Blencathra Sun 25-Mar-18 08:54:53

Typical DM readers. I read that if the British firm won they were going to be printed in Malta anyway - so much for British workers! I would like to pay as little as possible for my passport - and for it to allow me into EU countries without queuing. The Daily Mail really are the end!

ninny Sun 25-Mar-18 08:55:30

Nearly 100,000 now have signed in just 1 day, the power of the Daily Mail ?

maryeliza54 Sun 25-Mar-18 09:22:40

No response to my point then? The DM is a foul right wing rag that objectifies women, is racist and homophobic whose editor is a friend of TM and it wields disproportionate influence in our society. The Daily Mirror is none of those rhings. I’m concerned ( not obsessed) with the Mail because of its influence

maryeliza54 Sun 25-Mar-18 09:24:02

Blen is that really true about Malta?

gillybob Sun 25-Mar-18 09:33:04

I’ve had a quick on line search of some of the newspapers on the GN approved list (not sure if the Evening Chronicle has made it onto the list yet but it is the local paper so it deserved a look) and can’t find any mention of Malta, mind you no petitions either.

gillybob Sun 25-Mar-18 09:34:16

Aaaah and there we have it ....”who’s editor is a friend of TM” grin

Oldwoman70 Sun 25-Mar-18 10:15:48

" The DM is a foul right wing rag that objectifies women, is racist and homophobic whose editor is a friend of TM and it wields disproportionate influence in our society"

It is also the paper which sells the most copies in the UK. The figures I have found for print editions are Daily Mail 10,636,000 Guardian 3,653,000.

GillT57 Sun 25-Mar-18 10:39:21

Thank you for your charming comment ninny. Such understanding of opposing opinion

Chewbacca Sun 25-Mar-18 11:31:18

Would the petition have carried more gravitas and respect if it had been done in the Guardian or the I? hmm

MaizieD Sun 25-Mar-18 11:33:31

The guardian would never have considered starting anything so ridiculously jingoistic, so it's a bit of a pointless question really, chewie

100,000 people, and counting, might disagree.

petra Sun 25-Mar-18 11:49:50

Let's not forget it was the campaign by the Daily Mail that got the killers of Stephen Lawrence put in prison, not the Guardian.

maryeliza54 Sun 25-Mar-18 12:05:12

The SL campaign is not a get out of jail card for the DM forever - name one other socially worthy thing it has done

maryeliza54 Sun 25-Mar-18 12:07:05

Selling a lot of copies says a great deal about how many dreadful people tgere are who are prepared to read its bile. A lot of people voted for Trump

Oldwoman70 Sun 25-Mar-18 12:16:26

Oh my mistake, if someone disagrees with your opinion or chooses to read newspapers giving differing views (which I do - DM, Guardian, Times and I amongst others) they are all dreadful people!

Cherrytree59 Sun 25-Mar-18 12:26:30

A lot of Holier- than-thou on GN.

Reminds of the 2 Ronnie's sketchgrin

MaizieD Sun 25-Mar-18 12:53:39

Words fail me!

So where those bloody blue passports are printed is equally as important as bringing the killers of Stephen Lawrence to justice?

Anyway, in those days the DM was halfway to being a decent newspaper; not the lying, anti-democratic, jingoistic mouthpiece of a non-resident billionaire
