no thanks. did you see yesterdays headline? talk about stirring things up based on no evidence.

gillybob Sat 24-Mar-18 11:40:20

Oh dear . Maybe you shouldn’t have put the words “Daily Mail” in the thread title Ninny many GNetters are very anti Mail. wink

At least they are trying to do something . I signed earlier this morning . smile

ninny Sat 24-Mar-18 11:47:09

Thanks Gillybob have asked for last link to be removed not safe best to just type in dailymail.co.uk/passports, obviously the anti anything British unpatriotic on here will not be voting. Just coming on to moan.

ninny Sat 24-Mar-18 11:53:05

Over 47,000 now and counting

Gerispringer Sat 24-Mar-18 11:58:17

I'm all for things being made in the Uk, always buy British made furniture, local produce etc, try very hard to avoid plastic tat from China, but doesn't mean I have to support the DM.

ninny Sat 24-Mar-18 12:24:11

You wouldn't be supporting the Daily Mail you would be supporting a petition to have UK ?? passports made in the UK. Unpatriotic not to vote for UK workers and save this UK company and its workforce in my opinion.

OldMeg Sat 24-Mar-18 12:28:17

How very DM!

gillybob Sat 24-Mar-18 12:31:58

I totally agree with you ninny .

ninny Sat 24-Mar-18 12:34:12

Over 52,000 now.

jura2 Sat 24-Mar-18 12:35:29

oh the irony and the hypocrisy sad

you wanted Brexit- well you got it sad

ninny Sat 24-Mar-18 12:44:11

I do want Brexit and I want British passports to be produced in the UK ?? by a British Company.

MaizieD Sat 24-Mar-18 12:44:48

Someone mentioned very quietly on the 'blue passports' thread yesterday that exactly the same thing would have happened under WTO procurement rules (yes, they have rules, too, which members have to observe).

De La Rue lost out in the bidding process because their price was too high.

I'm very sad that this may mean lost jobs in the N.E but I won't be signing this rather ridiculous petition.

ninny Sat 24-Mar-18 12:46:32

Can you image the French or the Germans letting their passport contract coming over to us I don't think so. Stand up for Britain.

ninny Sat 24-Mar-18 12:49:27

I wouldn't expect anything else from Remainers. Unpatriotic EU lovers.

gillybob Sat 24-Mar-18 12:53:48

I didn’t want Brexit either Jura

Questions need to be asked How and Why such a massive difference in prices though MazieD is it because the French government are subsiding their own ? The fact that they may be produced in Poland ( much lower employment costs etc.) ? is it because they will hold us to ransom for more money later on ???? I want answers !

MaizieD Sat 24-Mar-18 12:54:19

The French print their own passports citing 'security' reasons for not putting them out to tender.

We could, I presume, have done that too and avoided all this silly fuss.

gillybob Sat 24-Mar-18 12:56:11

We could have and should have, but we didn’t did we ? Mores the pity .

MaizieD Sat 24-Mar-18 12:57:10

I wouldn't expect anything else from Remainers. Unpatriotic EU lovers.

Oh do stop spouting insulting rubbish, ninny.

gillybob Sat 24-Mar-18 12:59:47

I am a Remainer and very patriotic too . You can be both you know !

Gerispringer Sat 24-Mar-18 13:21:55

"Unpatriotic EU lovers."
well thats a lot of people you have made a sweeping statement about.
I could say some people on here are narrow- minded French- and German- haters. But I won't as it would be totally ridiculous.

OldMeg Sat 24-Mar-18 13:23:37

What is patriotism as seen through the eyes of a DM reader?
