So you have read quotes but no the actual paper, and can from that label them sanctimonious, politically correct etc., and thats not predictable or biased? I've read a few outrageous headlines in the Mail I guess that makes me eligible to comment on their political leanings.

JenniferEccles Mon 09-Apr-18 13:20:15

I have read quotes from the Guardian elsewhere Geri.

I strongly suspect that the foreign company if it does go ahead with the passports will keep upping the price.
Apparently their quote was less than cost price, so how on earth can they do it for that?

I have never believed in accepting the lowest quote for any work.

'You get what you pay for' is a good philosophy in life.

"'the sanctimonious politically correct Leftist Guardian" - ho how you know if you don't read it?
" the oh so predictable anti Daily Mail comments on here, but no, here they are in all their biased glory!"

pot?
Kettle?

JenniferEccles Mon 09-Apr-18 12:44:04

Oh dear. I was really hoping that I wouldn't encounter the oh so predictable anti Daily Mail comments on here, but no, here they are in all their biased glory!

It really amuses me how they profess to hate the Mail, yet seem to know what is in it!

I have got no time for the sanctimonious politically correct Leftist Guardian, so I don't read it, and I have no idea what 'cause' they might be campaigning for.

which I do - DM, Guardian, Times and I amongst others

Another Gnet Superwoman self identifies! Along with the 'completely uninfluenced by any other views at all' brigade we have the multiple newspaper readers

Where on earth do you find the time to read 4+ newspapers every day?

Isn’t that (more than) a bit intrusive and frankly NOYB?
Getting a balanced view of current affairs from a range of media seems entirely sensible. How anybody spends their time is entirely their business and judging by the number of posts on GN by some people, many have time to spend on whatever they want.

Did I read somewhere that De la Rue had a problem with their pension fund and could be trying to rectify that with the high price quoted for blue passports

GracesGranMK2 Tue 03-Apr-18 08:18:24

In so many ways, you really have to be joking.

Nearly 270,000 now and counting. Home Office has extended appeal for another 2 weeks.

Gerispringer Tue 27-Mar-18 04:03:55

20% British passports already printed abroad. Is there a petition about that? The plastic cover and the pages will be made by Gemalto, the secure data will be added in the U.K. not sure if this is worth all the nationalistic DM inspired fury. Plenty of other issues to get cross about.

Blencathra Mon 26-Mar-18 21:37:26

Not many ninny - the petition calling for a second referendum got well over 4million, got debated in Parliament and rejected.

Blencathra Mon 26-Mar-18 21:29:31

I can't remember where I read it maryeliza54 but it is a huge firm- however if they did win the contract because of a petition, which I think highly unlikely, I don't think they would dare not use British workers!

ninny Mon 26-Mar-18 14:15:46

Nearly 137,000 and counting smile

Nor me re the tunnel * Petra*
I preferred the idea of a bridge across from Northern Ireland.
Apparently only 12 Miles between Scotland and Ireland at one point. It seems to work ok for Denmark and Sweden.

Just waiting to read how wrong I am.smile

It's because they believe we had no view other than the Daily Mails view on how to vote (any vote)
I can assure them that if there were no such thing as the internet/ newspapers/ tv/ radio my vote would have been the same.
I didn't even want the tunnel to be built grin

gillybob Sun 25-Mar-18 16:14:57

It doesn’t sound right to me Ilovecheese I definitely haven’t hear anything like that .

gillybob Sun 25-Mar-18 16:05:43

And so knowledgeable of its contents too ninny hmm

ninny Sun 25-Mar-18 15:45:20

What I have observed on GN is that a lot of posters who claim they do not read the Daily Mail seem very bitter, its only a newspaper for heavens sake.

ninny Sun 25-Mar-18 15:39:26

petra I wonder if Keir Starmer signed the Daily Mail petition ? ? ?

Ilovecheese Sun 25-Mar-18 14:41:47

I was just listening to yesterday's Any Questions and Vince Cable said that the new passports would be printed in England, even though the company is not British owned. They just wouldn't be printed in Gateshead. Did any one else hear this? Is he correct?

petra Sun 25-Mar-18 14:40:45

gillybob
It could have been worse, he could have given an interview with the Express shock

gillybob Sun 25-Mar-18 14:30:30

Just as long as he didn’t give an interview for the Daily Mail Petra his comments should be allowed by the self appointed GN press authority .

petra Sun 25-Mar-18 14:25:13

gillybob
Your not alone. Kier Starmer has come out and said the passports should be printed in the uk grin
