A continuation of Momentum/Intertia/Magnetism.

Elastic? Plastic? Or at breaking point?

A thread for Corbyn lovers & haters

OK should I be banned. I gave a talk at a Jewish community centre, for an older age group. Most of them were either concentration camp survivors or the relatives of people killed in the camps. The organiser was 85 and every member off her family who hadn't already escaped to England by some means, was killed in Auschwitz. My talk was about my working life. I enjoyed the response and the subsequent discussion.
I was handed a laminated card, I'm now a Friend of Israel. Does this mean that any contribution I make to this thread is biased. I don't think so.
As for the "safe space" argument. If women like Germaine Greer are banned because they offend students who need a safe space - well, I give up. I've never warmed to GG but hey - she's hardly a monster, is she?

lemongrove Sat 07-Apr-18 19:36:08

I think this safe space thing has got out of hand Iam64 tbh.
But if anybody deserves them it is the group of people you went to speak to.
Welcome to the thread, Friend Of Israel.

trisher Sat 07-Apr-18 20:03:30

So as a "Friend of Israel" how do you stand on the shootings in Gaza Iam64. There have been demonstratins in Israel against the actions. The journalist shot by the way has a 2 year old son and was wearing a jacket marked PRESS. Even in war zones the press have usually not been deliberately targeted.

Anniebach Sat 07-Apr-18 20:18:08

An honour to say hello to such a friend of Israel .

Something is going so very wrong in universities , racist attacks, physical and verbal. Banning of freedom of speech, demands to have monuments removed if the politics of the person they are dedicated to isn't shared by the tender young students . As I posted quite some time ago

I’ve set out my
Opposition to oppression, including the actions of the Israeli government so often trisher that I feel no obligation to answer your question about my response to what’s happening in Gaza. I find it sad but not surprising that you responded to my post I. The way you did.

trisher Sat 07-Apr-18 21:45:24

Thank you for answering Iam64 you must forgive me if I don't keep a list of the stance all posters take on all matters. I do think that the appaling loss of life in Gaza might be treated with a little more respect by some on GN but I acccept that you are not one of those.
Annie what a pity you can't refrain from your ridiculous criticisms for once and acknowledge that Corbyn is right and everyone shoud be protesting about soldiers slaughtering unarmed civilians.

Anniebach Sat 07-Apr-18 21:59:49

Trisher, what a pity you had to drag your constant obsession with Corbyn into this, can't help it can you, carry on

trisher Sat 07-Apr-18 22:18:27

It's a Corbyn thread Annie hadn't you noticed?

Anniebach Sat 07-Apr-18 22:28:42

Then why are you posting about Gaza? Good grief we don't need Corbyn to tell us about what is happening there , I hope he doesn't start doing a daily weather forecast .

You just don't get it do you Trisher , something so serious as this latest trouble in Gaza but you had to bring your usual pathetic attempt at sarcasm to stir things .

Jalima1108 Sat 07-Apr-18 22:30:28

Surely everyone should have somewhere where they can express their views safely.
Again I agree with you trisher

Unfortunately this is not happening in Corbyn's Labour Party.
They get threatened with de-selection.

Primrose65 Sat 07-Apr-18 22:51:45

Perhaps they'll all leave and join a new party. Maybe they'll call it 'LovePolitics'.

Anniebach Sun 08-Apr-18 08:59:09

Corbyn is the cause of so much that is wrong in this country. So much envy, bullying, hypocricy he has brought to politics.

trisher Sun 08-Apr-18 09:12:13

So you knew everything that was happening in Gaza did you Annie? Well what actually gets things done in the world is people in authority giving clear messages, drawing attention to those abuses, condemning them and demanding they stop, like Corbyn has done. Keeping quiet doesn't do anything.
Jalima there are processes in the Labour party for dealing with people who feel they are being abused, No one says anything in the Conservative party of course. They daren't!
Incidently I've had a good look at the Jewdas website. I thought it was interesting and amusing. I thought the information about Yiddish and Ladino was particularly interesting.

Anniebach Sun 08-Apr-18 09:15:19

Corbyn in authority ? Good grief, he can't control the Labour Party without bullying

Anniebach Sun 08-Apr-18 09:23:05

Pity he didn't attend the demo at Westminster against anti semitism , suppose one doesn't protest against friends

trisher Sun 08-Apr-18 09:35:01

Pity you can't acknowledge that he is absolutely right aout Gaza Annie

Anniebach Sun 08-Apr-18 09:48:30

Surely you don't think I listened to him Trisher?

trisher Sun 08-Apr-18 10:00:23

That would be silly Annie I know you never listen to anyone.
But you could acknowledge that speaking out for the people of Gaza is a good thing.

Anniebach Sun 08-Apr-18 10:05:25

Trisher, if you had asked me without the usual verbal attack I would have given my opinion of Gaza, but you didn't , so I chose not to offer my opinion. Your constant sniping at anyone who criticises Corbyn is tedious and your defence of him is to make personal insults to posters.

trisher Sun 08-Apr-18 10:56:52

Annie There was no verbal attack when I first posted. Just a comment about Corbyn speaking out. You didn't respond to it posting instead irrelevant and abusive comments and then accusing me of having a "Corbyn obsession".
I think it is such a pity that you consider your dislike of a politician more important than people being killed.

Anniebach Sun 08-Apr-18 11:09:34

Trisher read your post again asking about Gaza

'Annie, what I pity you can't refrain from your ridiculous criticisms for once and acknowledge Corbyn is right and everyone should be protesting about soldiers etc"

This was a verbal attack Trisher, you do it so often it just comes naturally to you.

trisher Sun 08-Apr-18 11:39:32

Annie My first post about Gaza
Corbyn speaks out about the appalling violence. and Israeli soldiers shooting unarmed Palestinian demonstrators. A journalist was among those killed

Then

Trisher, what a pity you had to drag your constant obsession with Corbyn into this, can't help it can you, carry on

Still if you acknowledge that the situation in Gaza is dreadful and Corbyn was right to speak out I suppose some progress has been made

Anniebach Sun 08-Apr-18 12:02:20

I was replying to another poster, what has racism in universities to do with Gaza? What has university students subjecting to do with G. Greer speaking at a university to do with Gaza? You are not the only poster on this thread.

What's happening in Gaza is dreadful, has been for a long time, I did not listen to Corbyn so no progress there . You consider him a man of power, rubbish , unless you mean his power to destroy the Labour Party. I dislike him and do not trust him as a politician and as a party leader, I realy do believe him to be a hypocrite. I was a supporter of Blair, did not stop me protesting about Iraq, I have no time for blind devotion to a politician. One politician in recent times I always admired was Brown, this never stopped me from saying he couldn't 'do' tv . I wonder if you have a Corbyn shrine in your home you are so blinded to his faults. You deny he supported the IRA when it is widely accepted he did. Best you ignore my posts because I will not stop criticising him if I wish to, I have never had time for hypocricy and he is a hypocrite .

trisher Sun 08-Apr-18 12:51:43

That explains one post Annie but not the Corbyn obssession one. If you wanted to post about Gaza you could have done so then. But as usual you prefer to concentrate on the personal issues. While unarmed people on peaceful demonstrations are shot in Gaza.

Anniebach Sun 08-Apr-18 13:26:12

I do not have to explain anything to you Trisher
