Along with gillybob, glamma and, I think, MissAdventure (?) I'm waiting for a call to say that my daughter has gone into labour. Anyone else got a baby due imminently? Whilst typing this I just got a text from my foster son to say his 3 months pregnant wife has started bleeding. Oh no!
Now finished the thread! Congratulations too glammanana on the birth of little James Robert. How lovely! Anxious times waiting for little ones to come into the world.
Just reading this thread, so a bit late - but now little Evie has entered the world! Congratulations gillybob. Wonderful news and how lovely for your daughter to become a Mum at last.
My DGS3 was 10lb 4oz. There'd been no diagnosis that he'd be a big baby and his brother was only 7lb 2oz. DDIL looked the same size for both pregnancies.
Apparently my DM had been warned she was carrying a small baby and I was 10lb 7oz.
Congrats Glamma! Welcome to the world James Robert! Our DGS was 9lb 13ozs, so was straight into size 2 clothes! Fortunately as our DDiL had an enormous bump, and our DS was a huge baby, I held back from buying clothes until the 'birth day'!
Its a BOY weighing 9lbs 6oz born at 9.25 this morning GD inlaw also went rather quickly from 5cms to birth with no complications at all,he will be called James Robert and DD and I are off to have first cuddles this evening,I need to uy 2nd size bits and bobs now as first size will be a squeeze I think. Thanks ladies for all your kind thoughts & good wishes.
We shall watch this space for news glamma. My daughter went from 3cms to birth in a very short space of time so your daughter-in-law may also find that things accelerate quite quickly. This morning I woke to a text message from my daughter thanking me for my services as her Doula once again and suggesting we have a repeat in 5 years time!!! My reply was NOT in the affirmative. I spoke to her earlier and the little one has a tongue tie that will be cut, probably today. He was feeding quite well, but we know from her last baby that it becomes more of a problem with time so it's best to deal with it sooner rather than later. How's little Evie doing gilly? Is your daughter able to get rest between feeds?
GA Congratulations on your new baby grandson so pleased everything went well in the end and well done your daughter. My GD in law was taken in this morning at 6.30am and is as I type on gas & air so our baby will be here soon and on my hubby's birthday so what a lovely gift he/she will be. No more news on DIL she is still having pains but too far apart to go off to delivery suite poor girl must be so tired.
Congratulations to all the new grands! I think May in this country is the best time to have a birthday, when the weather is generally mild. I hope the babies thrive and the mums recover quickly. One of mine was born at home in May and it was a very special time.
Many, many congratulations grannyactivist so pleased to learn your baby boy arrived safe and well. my DD’s last hour went a bit “pear shaped” too so I understand what you are saying . So frightening for us mothers looking on helplessly and not able to do anything.
Funnily enough our little “Evie” was going to have May as a middle name but considering she was born a week early (30th April) DD and her partner have decided (probably rightly) that Evie April doesn’t sound quite right so she will not have a middle name after all.
Feeling all warm, happy and a teensy bit exhausted tonight . Thank you everyone for all good wishes, I really appreciate every one of them . Xx
Lots of Congrats to you GA and of course your daughter and the rest of the family! Our DGS also has a very distinctive name, as does our DS, and I keep them 'secret', we don't know who's reading! Three boys, that sounds like my idea of paradise, I love, love, love boys! With two big brothers, I'm sure his life will be eventful!
