Now that time has moved on, but with a long way to go, does anyone regret the way they voted ? And would you still vote the same way if asked to vote again.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, I couldn’t see that it had.

Gerispringer watch it MaizeD will be after you.

It does not matter Gerispringer its what we think that matters. I stopped being marked on essays when I left school and Uni. Don't let intimidating behaviour like correcting others put you off. It won't put me off.

MaizieD

All sources stated. Please, read carefully MaizieD. My Mum use to say to me put your head in gear before you open your mouth, I do try to remember that almost every day.

GillT57 now that's what I call brevity!

Tell me Gill why did you vote remain, then I can attempt to tell you why I voted leave. In just a few simple words of course, perhaps even as brief as your posting, I'll have a go.

The case to Remain in the EU is overwhelming. There are more than 1000 Reasons to Remain on this site for anyone who likes long lists-

Varian and Mostly harmless how do I convince you that I am not a bot. I had to look up what a bot is. Just because I thought it might be something really insulting that I should report. But I can cope with being accused of being robot from the Ukraine.
Do you know how silly this sounds!

Would you like me to give you the recipe for treacle toffee or scones I make good scones. Or perhaps we can talk about something that a robot could not talk about. Or maybe you could put up some photo's to see if I can recognise road signs . I am seriously concerned about those of you who are now saying that they think I am a robot from ..well anywhere.
I can't stop laughing...in fact I shall have to dash to the little girls (robots) room.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 15:02:43

Varian give me some. That is not an argument that we are able to debate.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 15:07:12

Varian just been on your activists site as you suggested. Sadly these far left sights do nothing for me. I would like to know what you think. So we can have a conversation about it.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 15:18:58

I should also thank all of you who have supported my postings and as it has turned out surprisingly defended me.

This is something that I did not expect anyone to have to do on my behalf. I thank those who did sincerely.

Although these sites attract people from all walks of life and political interests, it is interesting to me to find that the insults are from mainly just three with one in their wake people, so I refuse to blame this on remainers. It's just people who clearly just don't do long postings, or cope with other people seeing things differently to them.

I have to say I have never been accused of being robot before..and from the Ukraine too. How exotic. This is the best laugh I have had for years.

My son whom I phone normally to ask about mundane things, had his colleagues in uproar when I phoned him and told him about this accusation. Amazing.

He did say, ask for their credentials and get Gransnet to check them out, which apparently they are obliged to do...but I simply can't be bothered, as long as the insult stay within a reasonable range of slings and arrows.

I sincerely thank all of you who have supported me. I thank those who disagree but have debated. To the other three maybe four....I am still here and ready to debate.
Gerispringer I am now going for a cup of tea and today it is a piece of egg custard...home made of course!

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 15:21:58

Thank you Fennel I will try hard to be more concise.

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 15:28:35

Sooooo to conclude ,I’m guessing most people are happy with the way they voted?

MaizieD Wed 09-May-18 15:31:15

Are you trying to wrap this thread up, Bridget? I reckon you've no chancewink

varian Wed 09-May-18 15:32:33

No-one has actually accused anyone of being a bot or a robot, but it is possible. Nowadays so many things that we never suspected existed have turned out to be possible, so who knows?

The reasons2remain site could never be described as a "far left" site, except by someone who believes that Ken Clarke, Chris Patten and yes, even Theresa May are "far left" because, along with a very large number of Tory MPs they believe that it is in the best interests of the UK to stay in the EU. Even TM cannot actually bring herself to deny that is still her opinion.

MaizieD Wed 09-May-18 15:32:43

@Allygran

I have no intention whatsoever of feeding you.

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 15:39:36

Well , MaizeD I thought I would just try to reign it back a bit ?

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 15:42:58

Perhaps my OP should have said YES or NO answers only please ?

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 15:53:23

MaizeD.
Never confuse genuine positive or even negative feedback with being patronising.

It is only patronising when it is not between equals and we all are just that a group of equals attempting to get to the bottom of a very important matter.

I was taught to take compliments and insults well. Having always had good manners I hope I will always say thank you to people who are kind and generous with their comments.

It is simply good manners. It makes the world go round.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 15:54:29

MaizieD Feeding me what?

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 15:58:49

Varian and mostlyharmless these I think speak for themselves.

mostlyharmless Wed 09-May-18 14:15:37
This must surely be a bot!

varian Wed 09-May-18 12:37:22
I have never referred to another poster as "it" smileless. I tend to give the benefit of the doubt and believe they are what they claim to be - but who really knows?

The more robotic, rambling, numerous and incoherent posts could well have originated by a bot in a fake news factory in the Ukraine, then churned through google translate. Perhaps our generation are too trusting.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 16:02:30

Bridgiet

It sounds like some people would like to wind this up. I wonder why?
I will respond as long as the post continues. Once it stops I will stop.

Smileless2012 Wed 09-May-18 16:07:01

I didn't accuse you of referring to a poster as "it" varian that was in Gill's post at the beginning of page 9.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 16:14:38

Brigeit, if you did not want a proper debate then yes it should. But then would that not have been straw poll!

I sincerely thank you for such a great question and everyone for such an interesting debate.

I have also found it very informative and the darker side is rather scary as well. Made less so by the wonderful support and intelligent postings of the majority. Shame it get's spoiled by some who just can't stand being stood up to.

But I am made of tough stuff and will not be intimidated into silence ever.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 16:26:50

One last shot Varian. Who said I was a Conservative. Don't make assumptions about people. This is about Brexit, not our political views. This might be where some debate has gone adrift. Clearly some people are far left and some are in the middle and some are on the right...but I did not notice any far right comments.

But you know there is such a thing as the Fascist Horshoe theory. Google it.
Imagine a horseshoe shape with the opening at the bottom. The put the centre parties at the middle at the top and the right on the right and the left on the left as the horseshoe narrows on each side Fascist tendencies on both the left and the right are formed.

So fascist behaviour is not confined to far right it also exists on the far left as we have seen from far left activist in recent years.

It must be stamped on from where ever it comes. Tolerance is the order of the day in civilised societies. Tolerance, debate and understanding of others views even if you may never agree.

Done.

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 16:29:10

Ahh there it is you see Allygran1, one Gransnetters debate is another’s posion.
Perhaps topics should have a warning system ie

1.just a thought

2.some knowledge advisable

3. Only for the experts

4.Join in at your peril et etc?

Chewbacca Wed 09-May-18 16:31:04

Oh goodness, thank heavens our new expert Allygran1 is having a day off! I am sick and tired
of (a) the extensive cut and paste articles
Well, for my tenpennorth, I prefer this "resident expert" to the one we had until quite recently! At least Allygran1 isnt rude and aggressive with those who disagree with her. And I'm perplexed that the "extensive cut and paste articles" cause such derision too. Rather that than the endless urls to dodgy websites, surely?

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 16:39:15

Without doing a post count, it seems most of us are still happy with the way we voted, it will/would (?) be interesting to see if we still feel the same in 5yrs time .
