Now that time has moved on, but with a long way to go, does anyone regret the way they voted ? And would you still vote the same way if asked to vote again.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, I couldn’t see that it had.

What are you on about?
As you have said to me and other posters, "READ CAREFULLY" and do me the courtesy of not misquoting.me.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 23:11:26

Now for a little while I have behaved in the way that some of you have behaved towards me. It isn't nice is it?

So perhaps you might think before you speak, and be nice rather than adding not very nice asides or posting that people are bots. Nit picking postings instead of commenting on the content, or admitting that you might need clarification etc. It really is mainly just four people.

By the way the tin hat is a good idea, whoever mentioned that I thought that was quite clever.

Mostlyharmless I really don't feel that there have been any heated discussions in the last three days.

The discussion bit has been missing from those who disagree on the whole (one can never generalise) and some have given good feedback or alternative views. But four poster have not.

This thought came after I was accused of being bot, and that I am not what I say I am.. So after it had been suggested the thought went through my head that maybe all was not as it seems.

Personally I am too old to investigate a new supermarket.

pollyperkins Wed 09-May-18 23:10:30

Smileless how can you say those who voted remain cannot accept reasoned and intelligent posts from those who voted leave when that is just what I did!!!! I had thought this thread was refreshing as there was debate/disussion without personal abuse or insults but it's happening again unfortunately. I give up! Goodnight!

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 22:54:43

Gerispringer and GillT57 who mentioned you two?

By the way GillT57 I always want to write guilty57 I don't know why. Anyway Gill it's about what it say's it's about. Why are you taking it personally?

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 22:46:51

GillT57

Night night!

Beu you may not have read the post, where it was suggested that I might be something called a bot. Being a bit slow I had to look it up and apparently it meant Robot and to add to that a bot from the Ukraine. I have never laughed so much for ages.
But on a serious note. It became so persistently silly, the nit picking and the inability to address the issue without an aside that by Lunch time today I did consider the possibility that an infiltration has taken place.

This is somehow reinforced to a degree particularly when you go on the other forums that have political themes and see the same level of activity by a number of the same posters.

To run that high level of activity one has to be spending at least a full day to serve all forums. Who can do that? On the other hand it might be a bot!

However after a cup of tea and this evening a glass of wine the world was a rosier place and infiltration and bot quickly disappeared and my mind moved to another place.

GillT57 Wed 09-May-18 22:33:54

This is getting freaky and tiresome and a little bit weird. Off to bed.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 22:28:28

Bridgiet your charm lies in the fact that you are so balanced don't change that. Even in three day I have picked that much up.

Smileless2012 Wed 09-May-18 22:27:58

Not the best of welcomes to a new member of GN and doesn't give a very good impression.

Some would be deterred but it seems that's not the case with Allygran I'm pleased to say especially as I've been busily polishing a lovely apple to give to teacher tomorrowgrin.

Allygran1 Wed 09-May-18 22:26:25

Gerispringer Oh don't smash up your toys and if you want some cake I make great cake and will send you some if you tell me who you work for.

No heavy stuff at night lets niggle each other shall we?

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 22:25:40

Thanks Lemongrove,

lemongrove Wed 09-May-18 22:23:15

Yes Bridgeit Sometimes it’s easy to spot a bored teenager for an example on GN or even an adult ‘having a laff’ at our expense but the benefit of the doubt has to be given to all other new posters, we were all new at one time and posting styles vary greatly. There has been some hostility directed at
Allygran who has only written a mix of facts and opinions as we all do.

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 22:01:49

Ref posters taking care etc

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 22:00:59

Lemongrove, can you expand a bit on your last comment?

lemongrove Wed 09-May-18 21:54:32

I hadn’t noticed anyone on GN doing that.

Gerispringer Wed 09-May-18 21:52:28

And the other half are busy smashing the toys up and wondering why they can’t have their cake and eat it.

lemongrove Wed 09-May-18 21:41:40

Posters should take care what they say, to slate another poster and infer that they are ‘suspicious’ because a) they are new posters and b) they don’t like what the new poster says
Is taking conspiracy theories a step too far.
Half of GN is likely to have voted for us to leave the EU, those that didn’t are still, almost two years on, throwing their toys out of the pram over the result.

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 21:36:05

In fact I wonder sometimes if I should have entrenched views, it could make life easier. I find that generally there is something acceptable & unacceptable with all major issues

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 21:31:31

Can you give us some examples Joelsnan?

Joelsnan Wed 09-May-18 21:29:31

It's interesting to see how this thread so perfectly shows the process of selective understanding and acknowledgement. Those with entrenched views dismiss or fail to understand any comment that does not conform to their absolute view of right. I wonder if some of this is a defence mechanism, maybe if these views do challenge their 'rightness' they may start to waver in their belief like religious belief I suppose or possibly some are so fearful of change that any potential for this must be beaten down.

Beau Wed 09-May-18 21:29:13

I also have no regrets about voting Leave and would do so again, especially as the EU is plainly going down the route we were anticipating - EU army (as denied by Nick Clegg during the campaign), centralised tax regime, etc.
Regarding 'activist infiltration' of GN, I have to admit that my daughter and I on MN and GN respectively always joke to each other that both sites are infiltrated by Labour Party activists because any opinion not of a lefty liberal slant is pounced on for personal abuse of the poster. Maybe it's not always the case but it certainly is nearly always the case in our opinion, sadly.

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 21:27:07

Yes only time will tell now.Fingers x everyone

Smileless2012 Wed 09-May-18 21:14:14

It will be interesting Bridgeit to see if in 5 years time those who voted leave have regrets or those that voted remain are pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

Like you, I still have no regrets about my vote.

Bridgeit Wed 09-May-18 21:05:02

Well to get back to the subject, I still don’t regret how I voted, I am just running an imaginary scenario in my head of GNs comments 5yrs down the line by which time facts will have replaced the promises, maybe lies, hopes & expectations of us all.

Smileless2012 Wed 09-May-18 21:00:07

That's the problem varian those who wanted to remain can never accept reasoned and intelligent posts from those who voted to leave.
