Unintended consequences of brexit

Let's hope so. It could go either way as the bully-boys of the right-wing press still have enormous power but we must stand up to them.

Well, as I was saying, half the voting population chose Remain (probably more now).
Most MPs wanted Remain and now we see most of the House of Lords too. Even Theresa May wanted to Remain.
She has an impossible task of trying to deliver a Brexit that doesn’t ruin the country while appeasing the extremist Brexiteers on the right of the party.
Many MPs now feel compelled to go along with the Referendum result against their instincts.
But perhaps the tide is turning varian? There seems less appetite for a hard Brexit recently and more talk of some sort of Customs Unions as a compromise.

There is enough hostility in real life about Brexit, without posters on GN being as awful as they can be to posters who happen to have voted the other way.

There are lists of academics/ economists/doctors/business leaders etc giving their point of view for both leaving the EU and for Remaining in the EU.There are very left wing/right wing/ centrists who also give their views for leaving the EU and for remaining in the EU.
All these people, intelligent and eminent and expert in their
Own fields, as well as us lesser mortals have their reasons to think the way they do.
We had the referendum, we are leaving the EU and need to try and get the best deal possible all round, but not at the expense of ending up in a quasi EU situation, the worst of all worlds.

Maizie the point was, that the NFU believe that low standards of animal welfare equate to saving on cost of rearing animals. Therefore cheaper production costs mean that their members, British farmers, cannot compete because their animal welfare standards are higher and more costly and they cannot compete. Love the "non-sequitor thread diverter".

I heard voices raised in the supermarket car park this morning in our solidly “Leave” constituency. It turned out to be three voters talking, annoyed that the referendum had ever been allowed to happen, wanting to stay in, and insisting we need a vote on the final deal.

Anecdotal evidence - 2 of my neighbours have just put their house on the market- when I asked them where they were going I was told- ”Paris”- they are both medics, both Brits. I must say I wasn’t surprised.
