For over a month now the England team at the World Cup have held the nation enthralled by every aspect of their performance in the tournament. This young team went out to Russia with little expectation on them and very few fans prepared to travel with them for any number of reasons.

However, with each match ever more eyes turned towards those young lads as the whole mood of the UK was lifted by their achievements often as underdogs in what became a wonderful joint team and management effort. Even the defeat against Belgium could not deflate their enthusiasm and belief in themselves.

Of course, it all had to end eventually as experience eventually overcome enthusiasm, but what joy and entertainment they have given us all even in eventual defeat. They have made so many in Britain feel proud of our country.

It was a great pity however that this government could not stay together and come out fully supporting those lads as other governments have done.

It would be nice if Eazybee re-read some of her posts before pulling up mine .

You are welcome Annie

Let us hope that England can win the third-place playoff on Saturday, although I would think that all they would want now would be to get home and have a well-deserved rest.

Who will lift the trophy on Sunday, probably France but I would not write off Croatia as they have some very good players in that side with plenty of experience as they demonstrated in the England match by figuring out our weaknesses in midfield and on the left-hand side?

Could be a very good match and worth watching as a neutral.

eazybee Thu 12-Jul-18 19:47:26

Unnecessary, Gillybob.
Anniebach congratulated England on their successes and commiserated when they lost.

gillybob Thu 12-Jul-18 19:36:29

Grandad1943 Thu 12-Jul-18 19:19:39

Lemongrove for your information I am a 25% owner of the business these days. I did own the company in its entirety until 2015, then sold it to retire to four employees that had been with me since I started the business in 2003.

I bought back a 25% share when one if those that purchased the company from me was involved in a road traffic accident that means he will never work again in any capacity.

As regards the Legal Secretaries, one of them we have been training up to become an assignment controller for the last 15 months and that has been very successful. If she attains her higher IOSH certification in the Autumn, that should allow me to retire again (hopefully)

So, Lemon that's how it has all rolled out for me in the last few years.

gillybob Thu 12-Jul-18 19:08:02

Yes, my finger nails have suffered enough over these last few weeks lemon although I think it would have been quite an exciting match .

lemongrove Thu 12-Jul-18 19:06:22

Nope Ilovecheese otherwise you would be ‘goaded’ as you put it.It’s for quite other reasons that some posters think that his / her posts are irritating.

Anniebach Thu 12-Jul-18 19:05:46

I don’t agree Ilovecheese, i am on the left and am not goaded, well I am by the far left

Anniebach Thu 12-Jul-18 19:03:28

Thank you

Anniebach Thu 12-Jul-18 19:03:16

There is no poster named jiggly, would you be polite and use the correct name , thank you

Grandad1943 Thu 12-Jul-18 19:02:26

Jiggly,that should be Niggly.

lemongrove Thu 12-Jul-18 19:02:22

DH just laughed at what you wrote about equality, what kind of man would have written that?
You may or may not have a DH Grandad43 but you do run to your ‘ secretaries’ ......or so you claim!

Ilovecheese Thu 12-Jul-18 19:02:02

I don't think they goad you because you are a man Grandad I think it is because you are left wing.

As regards no one from the Government not going to the world cup, you can't really accuse someone of murder and then say can we come round to yours to watch the football?

I think the England team did really well, and that they and Gareth Southgate are a very good example to young footballers.

Grandad1943 Thu 12-Jul-18 19:01:29

Jiggly you are living up to your name again, calm down my dear, calm down. angry

Anniebach Thu 12-Jul-18 19:01:28

Elton John has a husband to run to

lemongrove Thu 12-Jul-18 18:59:30

gillybob at least we are spared watching England play France! That would have been nailbiting.?

Grandad1943 Thu 12-Jul-18 18:58:22

lemongrove, that's without doubt because I have not got a dear husband to go running to. grin

lemongrove Thu 12-Jul-18 18:56:17

Anyone can call themselves Grandad niggly wink
Have never come across a man before who shouts about the equality act, because he can’t take what a woman says on a forum..... very strange.
