MawBroon Sun 22-Jul-18 22:11:19

And are you saying somebody else was being dishonest?
In what way?

Grandad1943 Sun 22-Jul-18 22:13:41

kittylester, I will not as there are some matters which in the name of decency should not be allowed to go unchallenged if we wish to have a fair and respected society.

Some attitudes are below contempt and that has been shown on this forum today by one member.

Chewbacca Sun 22-Jul-18 22:14:45

Surely we choose our nicknames because they're easy to remember or are a name that means to something to us? Those who chose to change their names due to technical difficulties (like being unable to log in), or for personal reasons, would hardly have chosen a new name that was so similar to their old one that they would instantly be recognised? It doesn't necessarily mean that name changes are "dishonest" does it? There are myriad reasons.

Grandad1943 Sun 22-Jul-18 22:17:00

MawBroon, your post at 22:11 today makes little reasoning to myself and I would believe other members as it is addressed to no one?

MawBroon Sun 22-Jul-18 22:21:59

I am sorry that was unclear Grandad but it immediately followed one from Jura who suggested the changing of a username (mine) had had some dishonest motivation and was an attempt to deceive.

Maggiemaybe Sun 22-Jul-18 22:23:16

It’s a reply to the previous post, surely? confused

Maggiemaybe Sun 22-Jul-18 22:23:54

Cross posted, sorry.

Grandad1943
Be careful what you wish for. There is enough incriminating evidence within these posts for a number of other posters to take action against you. However most are magnanimous and either tolerate the banter, heated though it might get, challenge the poster but get on with it or if it gets too hot they ‘leave the kitchen’.

Grandad1943
Come out of the playground and get over yourself: trolling
and harassment grin
As a health and safety expert you know this accusation won't stick.

Grandad1943 Sun 22-Jul-18 23:14:18

To the two posts above addressed to me, No I will not and believe me I will make it stick.

In that, the first stage is now already in hand and I await that outcome before moving further.

The trolling and harassment of me on this forum will be stopped ether within or outside of the management of this organisation.

kittylester Mon 23-Jul-18 06:47:58

grandad, and do you consider your behaviour to be exemplary? You have been consistently rude. And, what does your threat above actually mean?

janeainsworth Mon 23-Jul-18 08:56:31

“The trolling and harassment of me on this forum will be stopped ether within or outside of the management of this organisation
What exactly does the italicised part of the above quotation mean, grandad?
Your threat constitutes harassment in itself.
No one has harassed you.
You have invited any negative comments by the style and content of your own posts.

Iam64 Mon 23-Jul-18 09:05:44

Ive just caught up with the last two or three pages and find it hard to see the connection with the OP.
Grandad, your comments towards MawBroon seem much more like bullying than anything else. My impression is that you're enjoying playing out on this leisure forum. Maybe its time you took your bucket and spade elsewhere.

Anniebach Mon 23-Jul-18 09:06:21

These threats from granddad1943 are now distressing , our posts are checked by claimed legal secretaries , now threats of something outside of management of this forum being brought in .

Iam64 Mon 23-Jul-18 09:11:42

I've reported grandad1943 as despite finding it difficult to take him seriously, I do believe his comment that harassment towards him will be stopped within or without the management of this organisation, is meant as a threat. Also, he's reported himself so I'm only confirming that aren't I.

Anniebach Mon 23-Jul-18 09:17:08

They are threats Iam and we do not come to this forum to suffer threats

Jalima1108 Mon 23-Jul-18 09:22:53

I think that Grandad's style of posting - bullying, arrogant and belittling of women, invites gentle teasing in order to prick the balloon of pomposity emanating from his posts if he is challenged in any way by other posters.

Unfortunately, this style of bullying is reminiscent of the school yard where the school bully, if challenged, runs crying to the Head Teacher, which is what seems to be happening here.

And isn't using the t word against the rules?

Jalima1108 Mon 23-Jul-18 09:29:50

I expect my post will be deleted - fair enough - but then perhaps the whole thread should be deleted.

Pity, as it brought out the Best of British - humour in the face of possible adversity.

perhaps you need to read the Forum Etiquette, which is quite clear on this subject. It is a question of trust - and I chose names which clearly identified me, because of this need for trust. I never accused anyone of dishonesty. It took me ages to work out who the person in question was before, and who she was before that- and perhaps the reasons for some comments or reactions. That does cause a problem of trust. I am who I am- and would never try to make others believe anything else- despite strong personal 'reactions' to me (or even clear attacks at times). Personally I'd say this is more honest- my view.

Jalima- from 5 days ago from Lemongrove:

'It was a joke jura.....just as this whole thread is one big joke.'

it always seems to be a joke when aimed by a certain group of people at a few others - and yet it is taken very seriously and worse- when it goes t'other way round. Funny that - or not ...

Alexa Mon 23-Jul-18 10:02:22

Jalima, surely the best of British humour in the face of adversity doesn't work unless and until the adversity is common knowledge? I know that I personally am a sort of ChickenLicken, however there is reasonable evidence that the UK is losing its commercial strength, and that there will be shortages.

There are actual ways and means for ordinary people sometimes to store certain preserved foods , tins and so on, which may well become very handy to have in reserve.

I wonder if anybody else heard Nadine Dorries just now on Woman’s Hour?

I hope this links to the podcast -if not it was the last item before the serial so about 35-40 minutes in if you prefer to try Radio iPlayer.

grandad, forgive me if I am wrong but I think you usually post on only the political and news threads and possibly have not been on many of the more lighthearted or chatty threads.
Many of us make mistakes in our posts. Some, like you and me, have a problem with spelling. Others make an error when typing and some because our iPads or other devices have a mind of their own and change the spelling of words.
These errors are often picked up by others (or ourselves) and often result in humourous banter and are frequently more funny than the original post. I have had my mistakes pointed out by others and have never felt offended or personally attacked by anyone and have often had a chuckle at the way my post has been changed by my misuse of words.
I think if you had been on more lighthearted threads you would have found some of the fun, humour, laughter and caring that comes from many GN posters and perhaps would put more into context what you seem to feel is a personal slight to you.
Obviously it is entirely up to you what threads you are interested in and may not wish to waste your time on the more frivolous posts but I do think you may see different characters appearing if you do.

I got Taylor Swift and some cute puppies and kittens from your link maw. I will try again grin
