Re. firms setting up outlets beyond the EU. The investment firm that Rees Mogg co-founded and from which he gets paid £14,000+ a month is to establish a second investment fund in Dublin. Of course, this has nothing to do with Brexit although the firm’s lawyers are advising this because of the probable problems a hard Brexit would cause.
JRM says that he is not involved with any of these decisions, though says he works 30 hours a month for this salary from the firm.

What I was actually saying is that you cannot say ( as Varian did say ) that 48 million people didn’t vote for Brexit, as there were many reasons why some couldn’t, including the ones who are toddlers.
All that ‘matters’ in terms of voting, are those who are entitled to vote.

Lemongrove I've just noticed that you included those too young to vote among the people who don't matter. They are the people who are going to be most affected by the coming car crash.

For those of you who might believe that jagua Land Rover are leaving the uk, they're not, only a small part.
A spokesman for the car maker said:
" This significant investment and technology up grade in Solihull in order to accommodate our next generation of flagship Land Rover models, and the refit of our Halewood plant for our next Epoque is proof that we remain committed both to the uk and to the transformation and growth

It was highly critized at the time for exceptional cherry picking of data
For anyone who is interested in this ludicrous 'fact' there is a report from Fact Check disputing this claim.

There may be some of those company’s which have now been bought by overseas investors (actually most of Uk businesses, finance and infrastructure is now owned by overseas owners).
But there has been a slow insidious move.of true UK company’s to this region utilising indirect EU subsidies (it is supposedly illegal to pay companies directly to move) so of course there are workarounds. Sadly I don’t have all day to trawl for these companies. I will try and spend some time finding more.

I noted that a significant number of the companies named are not British. If British companies are sold off to foreign buyers then they will take decisions which make economic sense to them, not sentimental. I see no reason why Brexit would restore those jobs to the UK.

I said what I thought of it. It's a point of view.

One of the things the EU does with the money is support some of the poorer regions. Interestingly, 7 out of the 10 poorest regions in Northern Europe are here in the U.K.. but we also have the richest region - London. Which accounts for the imbalance. I will be surprised if our poorer regions get much of a handout anytime in the next 50 years.

I’m not sure why Land Rover moving to Slovakia etc is evidence of the EU being a spent force rather the reverse I would think. Isn’t it owned by an Indian company anyway? They want to have easy access to EU markets which is why company wish to relocate post Brexit.

By the time Councils, Assemblies, national Governments, EU Government have creamed off what they need to run (lavishly in some cases) and for their pet projects, no wonder the public (taxpayers) feel as if they are handing out a begging bowl.
