Strawberry has to have pectin in some form added though. I have made it too sloppy and some like glue!

I like making jelly, I hang it in muslin tied with string from a cupboard door handle.

Depends on the sort of jam really-stawberry is easy, so is raspberry. Making clear jelly takes longer. You have to strain it through muslin or a jelly bag. My gran used to tie a piece of muslin between 2 chairs and leave it to drip through.

Chutney takes longer.
My father used to make a big jar of pickled onions, ready in time for Christmas.

As I remember, jam making used to take ages, cleaning and hulling/peeling the fruit, boiling it all up with sugar until it reached the right stages and pouring into clean jars and sealing.Then cleaning the kitchen which always looked like a bomb site.

Well, I suppose if Mrs May has time to watch Strictly Come Dancing, he should have time to make jam.

I'm glad you appreciate Corbyn's jam making I do think in the 21st century some deviation from the sexist proscribed roles is always welcome. Unlike the Mays of course where he always takes the rubbish out (or so they claim)

Jalimea isn't it interesting that one of the arguments used against the education of women was that it would cause them to neglect their domestic duties. Now hundreds of years later you are suggesting because a man makes jam he isn't capable of running the government. Lisbeth Simm said in 1906 I do not think that any woman/s brain was meant to exert itself wholly on cooking food, but I think if she is capable of grasping the meaning of the great social problem I am sure she will manage the other thing
