Well I enjoyed the chuckle nonnie thanks for posting...we could all do with a giggle now and again, even (or especially) in this political climate!
That said, I don’t like the arrogance of KC. Another Remainer MP (like Amber Rudd) who doesn’t reflect the views of their Leave constituencies. Grrr!

If someone retweeted that Petra had said i was sat etc they would know it wasn't me as no one in Southend says "I was sat
Whereas if someone retweeted something from my friend in Doncaster, I would probably believe it.

Politics is so dire at the moment we need things to lighten it if only for a moment. The Daily Mash Brexit stuff has given me a few smiles. Who do you think should be next in line for Brexit Secretary? I think it should be John Culshaw!

I read Daily Mash too Nonnie and my favourite is News Thump, although they admit it is hard to post stuff at the moment as with Brexit and Trump fact is proving more weird than fiction.
Just ignore the killjoys, we need a bit of intelligent political comedy fiction on here to counteract the real political comedy going on in real life!

No I don’t vote Tory either but have never known such a lot of nasty people I feel quite sorry for Mrs. May, I am hoping they don’t get her to resign. Apparently after that awful meeting her h was waiting for her with a large whisky.

Well, I think KC would be quite happy with this fake twitter and likely wishes he had written it as it sums up his true feelings! A few people on here need to lighten up as well, we don't need grammar corrections or posters being affronted on KC's behalf.

I think it's fake because Ken Clarke is old enough to have been taught traditional English grammar. 'I've been sat' is passive and therefore implies that someone sat him in bed. As far as I am aware, he is still perfectly capable of putting himself to bed. It should be 'I've been sitting' - the active present perfect progressive form of the verb 'to sit'.

Ken Clarke has always been " human " anyway. He doesn't care if it snows !

Sat/ sitting. Depends where you live. For some, it's regional.

Nonnie, thanks for posting. Made me chuckle too. And that was my first laugh since flu got me in its grip five days ago. Ended in a fit of coughing, but well worth it!

I suppose I should have spotted that it was fake but my initial reaction was that it was real. I wouldn't be surprised if it reflects some of his feelings though.

Although it was funny, I do think that it is quite important that people should be able to trust that the comments they read actually come from the person they are attributed to.

But it is innocent, just read it! It doesn't try to influence anyone, it doesn't name anyone, it is harmless.

In answer to how I would feel, I have shared the Facebook post which says something along the lines of: If you see a post from me saying their, when it should be there send help, I have been kidnapped! I wouldn't expect anyone to believe I had posted anything out of character because none of my friends would believe it! As someone said up thread, he probably wishes he had said it.

Maybe you should read it again and then you will see it is a simple bit of harmless fun!

How would you feel if people posted on social media using your name, pretending to be you, and using dreadful expressions like 'I've been sat up in bed'?

I'm joking of course, but there is a serious point about re-tweeting and re-posting. People have been tricked into re-posting seemingly innocent memes which have been originally posted by far from innocent organisations. They thus bring those organisations to a wider public.
You have to be sure that what you're promulgating is from who you think it is.
