There is absolutely no point in a second referendum if the result of the first is disregarded. All those favouring staying in the EU I hope you are happy for your grandsons to be conscripted into the EU army to keep the proletariat (we ordinary citizens) under control. We are being manipulated to ensure that the wealthy elite flourish & everyone else struggle to keep them up there at the top of the heap. Corbin et al will hasten the process.

I predict.....
(466 Posts)Theresa May will lose the vote on Tuesday.
Do you agree?
And then what will happen next........let’s see whose prediction is the closest. Perhaps let this thread run about 2 weeks and see who got it right, or nearly right.
Declare a winner just before Christmas.
Over to you ?
Do you think EU will welcome us back to the fold with open arms if there's a second referendum and the vote is to stay? I think we'd be disregarded and treated as second class citizens.
Also wondering what the point of all these Cabinet members going round trying to drum up support is..bit late for that now. I'd rather have seen my MP knocking on my door wanting to know how she should vote, especially if she wants to retain her seat at next GE.
I just want all this wrangling to be over and we know one way or the other.
Wow, stirring up division and hatred in Northern Ireland Blondie49, oh that’s OK I note you’ve done it ‘nicely’.
I'm hoping for and therefore predict a second referendum.
May will still be PM next year and Brexit will happen in one form or another.
Oldbatty I’m loving your quote of “ large Irish lady “ . Nobody ( ok a lot of people) had never heard of the DUP before TM needed them and probably couldn’t care less about the Irish Border and the backstop. I have to visit NI a few times each year and the people there are more British/ English than the British /English . I tell them ( nicely ) that they have never been mentioned on news/debates etc in UK until they propped up government. It is just so deeply ingrained over there
TM will lose the vote on Tuesday.
There will be a vote of no confidence.
A replacement Prime Minister figurehead for the remainder of this government.
We will get a second referendum.
Meanwhile there will emerge a new party of Brexiteers from both Conservative & Labour ranks and they will win a stonking majority at the next G.E.
I'm with you there NigglyNellie. If we had had a halfway competent negociation we would not have had ref -but we did. 'Freedom of movement' has meant we had to implement racist immigration policies (restricting from non Europe) in a desperate effort to keep inflow down. If we don't break free now we will be unable to. The next development is common armed forces - who's to say Brussels will not deploy them against non conformist members. Not betting on any outcome at the moment!! And God help us should a 'charismatic' leader arise. Memories are short.
Not saying which way I voted but leave won so we must agree with the vote if we stay in Europe against the will of the people what's the point of voting I wouldn't bother to do it ever again no general elections of local council that will free up my Thursdays to do something of more use
FYI folks, we here are not exactly shaking in our boots, but are worried about all kinds of aspects of this dreaded vote. We have been told in no uncertain terms that we shall all [at great expense and loss of life] have to apply for a Carte de Sejour Permanente in order not to be classified as an illegal immigrant - despite that we have lived here for 11 years very happily, and without the above documents. It is causing us major headaches and worries as although we have not yet embarked upon this process, many of our fellow UK citizens are in panic-mode [perish the thought that we will be forcibly thrown out but hopefully it wont come to that]. Anyone else in the same boat?
Well, here's one prediction I made that's already come true!
MaizieD: I realise that this will not stop people making this stupid claim about 'Parliament' promising 'once in a lifetime'

Well said nigglynellie!
I predict we will stay in and Jeremy Corbyn will be PM relying on the SNP to support him. People have been brain washed by MSM so unfortunately Jeremy will not get the majority he needs to make the much needed changes to the devastating effects of this cruel and callous Tory government.
All of these people saying keep labour out are they blinkered to the austerity that's happened in this country.
The nhs is on its knees.(waiting to be sold to the private sector friends of the tories) . Then we truly will be like Europe where being we have to pay for our medical help . Well it's plain simple that I will just have to die at a ripe old age of 47.
Because I am currently seeing 6 specialists . Only recently everything fine wrong with health . Strokes , hypoglyceamia, chronic arthritic pain, bowel problems the list goes on and on.
None of these is of fault of my own. Before people say u must smoke or u must drink or be obese etc. No i am infact 65kg and would weigh less if the brexit deal happens and we come out of 3urope because atm I live on fruit and veg and meat. So how will we acquire all our fruit and veg into this country once we quit . It will triple in price almost overnight.
Some people need to take off those rose coloured designer specs they ar3 wearing and see the country and what's happening in it.
How people are literally dying due to having benefits stopped or taking weeks to sort out.
The old cannot put heating on.
The crime rate !!!!!! Smash and grabs that are happening is awful.
The lack of police force to tackle all of this crime. I agree it's a total headache . But if the govt . Paid themselves less wages or less expenses if only for 6 months maybe the pot of money for the country would have more in it. Shame on you all not seeing . The difference in crime figures and food banks etc..
I predict that Theresa May will lose the vote on Tuesday. Slimy Gove will try to take over but David Davies will become PM. We will leave with no deal. Life will become difficult as the EU try to punish us for leaving. Our US and Commonwealth friends will increase trade with us. Things will get better for us as the EU implodes and the younger generation will be grateful that we got them out just in time. The sun will continue to shine, people will continue to be good and bad. Love and hate won’t go away and Prince Charles will make a better job of being king than any of us imagined.
I predict we will be in exactly the same mist of confusion at Christmas
Cameron gave into pressure from his schoolboy chums, the Eurosceptics, so disruptive in the Tory party, the ones that Major called ‘the bastards’ and still does.
Cameron gambled that Remain would win because no one sane would vote against it and at last he could put the bastards and their pressures aside.
BUT He underestimated the rumbling discontent of the unprivileged who saw it as a chance to shake things up. Unlike France and Germany, the UK had put no cap on the amount of the new EU members from the old soviet bloc, low wage countries, that could come here to work. It was a mistake and it was massively exploited by Leave.
It is interesting that the areas who have the largest amount of immigrants voted Remain. Those without any voted on fear from Leave.
I wasn’t at all surprised Cameron walked out on losing, implying ‘come on you Leavers sort this mess out’ But they didn’t they ran away.
So everyone was kind of relieved when sensible Theresa steadied the boat but really it was always going to sink. We’d have been better off for a passionate Leaver to have taken the helm over two years ago and crashed it to smithereens instead of being left with this leaking lifeboat.
The Leavers illusions have been bolstered they are now threatening massive unrest if their Will is overthrown. For that reason it is Theresa who is to blame for keeping this leaky damaged boat afloat. Every sensible person should have left and let the Leavers do it. They should have been made to.
We are heading for the rocks and maybe a new leader will emerge. We don’t know who yet though. That or we crash. A lot of people want to crash. They might think ‘you can’t fall off the floor - where they are. They know they will not gain but will enjoy others pain because they think the system unfair and they deserve it.
It’s a mutiny. Nothing progressive to be gained from it. Of course Cameron walked away when he saw the disaster ahead.
I am a hard Remainer and keep my fingers crossed. I was a supporter of Corbyn till his behaviour on Brexit changed that. His failure to inspire his young followers to vote to stay In. His three line whip on article 50. His limpness over it all in a misguided belief it will get him into power. Unfortunately he has lost the respect of many.
Always used to vote labour but couldn't vote for them now. I don't think Corbyn is a patch on Theresa May.
Good luck to her, whether she wins or loses.
Theresa will loose the vote
There will be a public vote which will include Theresa’s Brexit and REMAIN
By 5+% REMAIN will win and we will settle down in the EU and reform from within.
Anniebach, that sounds like the hokey cokey ?
The 31st March date may have to be extended too.
I predict that the date won't be extended unless we have a General Election or a People's Vote. The EU isn't going to be at all sympathetic to a request for extension if it's only going to give the government more time for internal arguments in the tory party and the slight possibility that a twiddle to the backstop might enable May to get the 'deal' through parliament.
I agree with your last sentence, moxeyns
Well said nigglynellie!
I'm with easybee; I don't think she'll let Tuesday's vote go ahead.
I think the EU will toss her a bone that makes the backstop slightly more acceptable, and she'll try again when the numbers look a little better. The 31st March date may have to be extended too.
What I would LIKE to happen is that we revoke Article 50, as the EU court advises we could do unilaterally, and stay in; the only solution that doesn't leave us all poorer for decades.
Guilty of living in my own world, that if it wasn't broken ' etc etc What were the reasons and benefits for the UK by becoming part of the EU and why do so many now want out.
well I admire Theresa May - it's her colleagues that have let her down - that poor woman has driven herself to a shadow and it's the public who voted to come out of Europe - it isn't her fault - let's face it: why would we want either Corbyn or McDonnel to run Great Britain - they are total idiots the pair of them! Keep going Theresa!
The EU was never going to accept any deal we put forward it is obvious to anyone who is actually running the EU but no names mentioned they want our money?
do your own research and find out why.
there are many remainers in the cabinet some have already quit not got the guts to stand firm and do their job instead of causing more problems.
charity begins at home we voted to quit so quit use the money wisely if the politicians and civil servants are capable ??get on with it .
