I predict.....

Theresa May will lose the vote on Tuesday.

Do you agree?

And then what will happen next........let’s see whose prediction is the closest. Perhaps let this thread run about 2 weeks and see who got it right, or nearly right.

Declare a winner just before Christmas.

Over to you ?

As a vegetarian and a lover of baked beans (especially Waitrose own brand @ 35p) I welcome that news. grin

Anja Wed 12-Dec-18 22:51:25

Re May still being in power this time next year...we will have to defer that prized tin of baked beans until December 2019. I’ll get two in and stockpile (does 2 tins qualify as hoarding?) then at least lemon and GG will have something for next years Christmas Dinner if we get no deal!

GabriellaG54 Wed 12-Dec-18 22:41:02

I claimed it days ago lemongrove grin

GabriellaG54 Wed 12-Dec-18 22:11:05

On the 8th Dec at 11:13 I predicted that Mrs May would still be PM next year. That has proved to be true.
Further, I predicted that Brexit will happen. That part has not yet been completed but it will, and I will claim the prize...grin

My OH. Staunch old-school Tory but a Remainer, has conceded the Tories are heading for defeat in a GE. They have stuffed themselves.

crystaltipps Wed 12-Dec-18 17:02:42

When M Thatcher won her first vote of no confidence she resigned shortly afterwards as she couldn’t work with the revolting ( in both senses of the word) backstabbers in her cabinet. Something like that might happen.

Beammeupscottie Wed 12-Dec-18 16:59:24

The pundits are now predicting she will win tonight but lose the Withdrawal deal in Parliament which will lead to a General Election in January. Guess who will win that? Back to the drawing board?

oldbatty Wed 12-Dec-18 16:49:34

to be fair, she is pretty good at it.

Framilode Wed 12-Dec-18 16:47:56

Trisher she never learns. I agree with your post. Her non answering irritates the hell out of me.

trisher Wed 12-Dec-18 16:21:12

lemon TM didn't answer a single question. It was probably one of the best displays of obfuscation ever seen,so I suppose if that is what you expect she did well. Some prefer real answers

lemongrove Wed 12-Dec-18 14:42:44

May performed strongly at PMQ’s today so I predict she will be PM for another year.
I hope there is a lovely prize for the best prediction Anja

GrannyGravy13 Wed 12-Dec-18 13:23:24

I think she will probably win the vote this evening, my reasoning - Johnson, Gove, Hammond et al do not really want the PM job at the moment. This is just to remind her she is not omnipotent, and if she does win she cannot be challenged for 12 months.

No one wants to be the PM in charge of this almighty mess, whatever the outcome, hard Brexit, TM's deal or whatever else is concocted before 29/3/19.

oldbatty Wed 12-Dec-18 13:04:44

You could chat with Macron?

Fennel Wed 12-Dec-18 11:46:49

Thanks Oldbatty smile.
I think I'll be the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
About 40 years ago I would have loved that job.

oldbatty Wed 12-Dec-18 09:37:45

My prediction for PM is a coalition of Grans from this site.

I think Maizie, Miss A and Fennel would be a good combo.

Let's face it, they would be no worse than what is on offer.

Labaik Wed 12-Dec-18 09:26:05

I am so impressed by the speeches and dignity of the SNP MP's over the past few days [ditto Nicola Sturgeon over the past 2 = years]. They put most English MP's to shame. Especially now when the very group that forced the referendum are now fighting to become PM at a time when the country is disintegrating around them. They're like a pack of rabid wolves [which is being unfair to wolves...]..

Anniebach Wed 12-Dec-18 09:15:32

Boris Johnson ?

Granny23 Wed 12-Dec-18 09:11:46

Well, well, the plot thickens (or sickens) anyone want to predict who will be PM next year?

Granny23 Wed 12-Dec-18 09:09:46

I was not just thinking about the SNP, but also the Greens, Liberals, Plaid ( though UKIP seems to be dead now). In the Scottish Parliament, because of the way it is structured, legislation requires the support of more than one Party in order to pass. This tempers extremism and forces the biggest party to consult/amend any motion in order to garner cross party support.

mcem Wed 12-Dec-18 07:09:20

Yes Granny23! I have pointed out on several occasions that the the 3rd biggest party in Westminster is SNP. The fact that they are currently quite high-profile in the HoC and actively pushing important and relevant points, might just act as a reminder of that.
Unfortunately I know that even if Scotland returned 100% SNP MP's we'd still be sidelined whenever possible. TM is disgracefully dismissive.
It makes me stop and ask myself if I should vote Labour in a GE if that would mean dislodging this heartless and incompetent government. That smacks of voting tactically which I 've never done but frankly I 'm questioning almost everything at the moment (but I do know I' d never support brexit)!

Granny23 Wed 12-Dec-18 00:15:26

I'm getting a bit fed up with the assumption that there are only 2 Political Parties in this Country. Remember that TM is currently only in power courtesy of an agreement with the DUP and recently we had a Tory/Liberal Coalition.

If you have 'gone off' the Tories and can't stand Labour then please remember that other parties are available

MaizieD Tue 11-Dec-18 23:58:48

I tried that once before, Labaik. Was accused of trying to guilt trip them. hmm

The problem with poor old Tinkerbell Brexit is that people just don't believe in it enough. If we all believed it would be as promised...

Labaik Tue 11-Dec-18 23:50:01

Can anyone who voted for Brexit and seen the chaos that it has thrown this country in be proud of what they've done? And they're the ones that claim to be 'patriotic'. I'm in total despair of it all....

MaizieD Tue 11-Dec-18 22:53:57

Would someone please tell me which Labour plans in their manifesto are impractical?

Urmstongran Tue 11-Dec-18 22:35:19

Well, ladies, may I just say how impressed I am by the intelligent degree of debate on this thread at present! That said I’ve enjoyed a large glass of red wine this evening whilst watching an episode of ‘The Crown’ on Netflix and am quite certain I could not join in at this level. It’s been a very entertaining read however!
I think your proposal is brilliant Granny23 and I second it wholeheartedly. However it’s far too sensible to gain any traction.
