Theresa May will lose the vote on Tuesday.

Do you agree?

And then what will happen next........let’s see whose prediction is the closest. Perhaps let this thread run about 2 weeks and see who got it right, or nearly right.

Declare a winner just before Christmas.

Over to you ?

Selsey99 Sat 08-Dec-18 16:56:57

I agree no labour in for goodness sake

Gaggi3 Sat 08-Dec-18 17:19:30

Not at all a TM fan but "Always keep a hold of nurse, for fear of finding something worse."

winterwhite Sat 08-Dec-18 17:32:16

Anja Do you think you should call Time on this tomorrow evening (Sun) - some predictions already look more likely than others? And then start a second thread on Wednesday morning, depending on where we are then.

EllanVannin Sat 08-Dec-18 17:32:53

Whichever way it goes and whatever happens it'll be interesting to say the least. Who'd have thought that 2+ years on that we'd be left with all this crap ? I'd imagined it would have been a straightforward remain with just a few stragglers voting to leave. I could never have predicted the way it went.

Anything can happen now, that's the safest bet.

The Scots were denied a 2nd Referendum "once in a lifetime " was said. So no referendum but how about the MP do what they are paid to do and govern.

I have only ever voted Labour but JC scares me so an election is out for me.

We can get through this.

mokryna Sat 08-Dec-18 18:09:20

How long is a lifetime.
No-on was aware of the lies that were told, money overspent, other countries exerting their influence etc.
How many 18 year olds couldn't vote last time but are now looking for places/ jobs moreover if 16 year olds were allowed to vote for their future why not. Granted there has to be a stop off point but I started work at 15 had a mortgage at 18 but wasn't allowed to vote until 21.

I watched a programme last night with people whose political knowledge I respect hugely. Their thought was that the EU was acting like a bully and not unlike a kind of Mafia.

MaizieD Sat 08-Dec-18 18:41:44

I'd be interested to know who were they, Kim?

Urmstongran Sat 08-Dec-18 18:55:49

Well Anja good luck picking a winner from our myriad forecasts!

Jalima1108 Sat 08-Dec-18 18:57:21

Is there a prize?

Maggiemaybe Sat 08-Dec-18 19:02:21

A tin hat? A multipack of baked beans for our Brexit food hoard?

knspol Sat 08-Dec-18 19:04:22

Agree re Cameron but if T Blair had done the same as all other EU leaders and not allowed an immediate mass immigration of so many other Europeans into the UK years ago then a lot of people might not have voted to leave in the first place. As for what might happen in the future it's anybody's guess but lets face it who would want TM's job? Not Boris, not JC. How does that woman keep going???

Kim19 Sat 08-Dec-18 19:50:04

Programme called 'This week' on most Thursdays straight after Question time. This comment was made pretty much at the beginning and you will find it on iplayer.

charjoy Sat 08-Dec-18 19:59:17

I think TM could pull another rabbit out of the hat.
She has more guts than most of the men!
Who else is there capable of being prime minister??

Jeannie59 Sat 08-Dec-18 21:01:11

The word,' Referendum' gets on my nerves.

Anja Sat 08-Dec-18 21:59:09

I think we have to let it run until we know what happens firstly on Tuesday and in the days following.

I’m only going to judge those who made a prediction about what they think will actually happen, not what they would like to happen. Two different things.

Re a prize? Open to suggestions. I quite like the tin hat ⛑ idea.

Anja Sat 08-Dec-18 22:00:11

A weekend break in Aleppo?

Anja Sat 08-Dec-18 22:01:15

Another rabbit? What happened to the first one charjoy? ?

Saetana Sat 08-Dec-18 22:23:13

I believe Theresa May will lose the vote - the only thing to speculate about is how badly she will lose. Unless its pretty close there will be a no confidence vote by her own party and a leadership contest will ensue. I have no issue with this but I do not want either Michael Gove or Boris Johnson as the next leader of the Conservative Party. Time to let a backbencher take the lead - on both sides of the house they often have far more sensible views and are more respected in their constituencies than most front benchers of either stripe. Not a popular opinion on here, but I would love to see Jacob Rees-Mogg nominated - he is a staunch Brexiteer with an alternative vision for our future relationship with the EU. Cameron can shut up - he ran for the hills as soon as he lost the referendum - whilst I think May is weak, I do not think he has any right to comment.

GabriellaG Sat 08-Dec-18 22:46:46

A lorra lorra wannabe politicians on here.
If some of you have the answers and are smarter than the average bear punter, why not stand as a candidate in your area? So many alternative deals being mooted that there are bound to be a very large number of dissenters when all is done and dusted.
I believe that JRM, a true 'underwriter' of the British way of life, should be heard.

mcem Sat 08-Dec-18 23:01:35

GG have you thought that several posters are or have been very active politically as councillors or party workers and had things gone differently in their lives, several might have been MPs or even been in TM's shoes?
Mind you, your final sentence removed any doubts about your own political credentials!

Pythagorus Sat 08-Dec-18 23:13:04

She will lose the vote ...... she will go back to the EU and they will tinker with it ....... and come up with a revised version ....

GrannyLondon Sat 08-Dec-18 23:46:02

I think it will be a very tight win.
Northern Ireland will beg to become united with Ireland so they can stay in the E U.
GG, JRM yes the British way of life about a century ago.

GrannyLondon Sat 08-Dec-18 23:59:28

AND I’d like to see a Socialist Government in charge.
I’m tired off these Tory spivs making massive profits & making the poor pay.

GabriellaG Sun 09-Dec-18 01:01:22

mcem
Yes indeed. I'm quite well aware that, with the knowledge displayed on here and other threads, some GNers might well have dipped their toes in political waters, if not their whole foot.
As for my last sentence. That's only your opinion. I certainly don't profess a love for British politics. More than half of them have no idea how to make toast never mind run a country but I gladly leave them to it. Whatever the outcome, we have little say in it right now and I will happily live with whatever fate we are presented with. I've no intention of getting into a stew about it as there is more to life than worrying about politics. grin
