If I say "No" Annie what good would that do? It is for most people an accepted view, unfortunately there are at both ends of the political spectrum people who believe otherwise. Looking at what can be done to stop the recruitment of ordinary young people to their ranks is what should be looked at. The situations that begin to plant seeds of anti-semitic ideas and radicalisation are what need tackling. Otherwise by inaction we are all indirectly responsible for the conclusions.

Totally agree trisher, the Israeli state seems to be able to do what it wants without any sanctions from UN all the while USA supports it unconditionally.

What interesting questions Annie but to go back to the basis and origins of anti-semitism. The actions of the US and other countries which have failed to ensure Israel complies with UN rulings is used by anti-semitics to develop and build their ideas. How can this be countered? Is the question that would help develop a real strategy to combat radicalisation and anti-semitism. It is difficult to combat allegations of conspiracy when there does seem to be a real and unchallenged policy of not enforcing UN resolutions on Israel.

There are those who are intent on conflating the State of Israel's policies with the Jewish populations per se. Hence the deluge of hatred that has come their way of late. Jewish communities feel, not unreasonably, that this is history repeating itself. Unless we are Jewish, or from another ethnic group who have suffered such a fate, none of us can know what it would feel like to lose family to genocide, or indeed have a political movement manipulate public opinion against one's ethnicity and religion, so much so, that there is a subliminal message that somehow the Jews control the world's financial world and are simultaneously responsible for all the world's ills. Paradoxically that was once the mantra of the far right, now sections within the far left spout the same vitriol.

I read the article in the ST today and was appalled, I do however agree with trisher's post, that the US's stance in particular, as far as Israel is concerned isn't even handed, one only had to watch the recent Simon Reeve programme when he went to both Israel and Palestine to realise that. Nevertheless there is now a virulent wave of anti semitism that has reemerged and it doesn't help that it is being fostered by a sector within a party that prides itself as being set up on high ideals. The contentious mural in particular gave credence to the pernicious subliminal theory that some love to put forward, that Jews control everything, including instigating all wars. Shameful!

One of the things that would put a stop to anti-semitic ideas taking hold would be if the UN decisions that Israel is in breech of were pushed by other nations and properly acted upon. One of the reasons for believing in a world wide conspiracy would then be removed.

Day6, if you review my above posts you will witness that I have not made up any lies in regard to Muslin voting preferences. I have just made some " supportive comments" on GrannyGravy13 posts.

Also, there are many instances of racism against Muslins in the Tory Party sighted on various media outlets, but of course they will not appear in the right-wing extremist press such as the Daily Mail, The Sun, or the Times or Sunday Times.

No doubt the above publications are just trying to take public attention off the Conservative party in parliament tearing itself apart.

Just because some members of the LP have lost their way, doesn't make the actions of the other lot any more palatable. Cruel people.

Muslims aren't a homogenised mass that all think and act the same way, we do have Muslim mps across the political spectrum for heaven's sake. Similarly I heard, black conservative MP, Kemmie Baddenoch, comment that there is an assumption amongst some, that Labour have ownership of the black vote.

There are on both sides of the Jewish/ Muslim controversy extremists who spout unacceptable and untrue rubbish. Some will undoubtedly join political parties. The Labour party has at least a means of suspending and dealing with such people. Instead of using this for political point scoring and denigration of the Labour Party it would be good to see a real and sustained effort to understand and uncover the reasons for radicalisation (particularly of British born Muslims) and to develop a strategy for combating it, especially among young people. Pretending it is purely a LP problem is ridiculous.

Oh and Conservative council locally contains many Muslim members. I'd like to know why you've made up a lie about Muslim voting preferences too Grandad.
