Labour suspends official who blamed ‘all wars in the world’ on Jewish people

Andrew Gilligan
December 16 2018
The Sunday Times

Mohammed Yasin pictured with leader Jeremy Corbyn

"A senior Labour Party official shared anti-semitic material blaming Jews for “all the wars in the world”."

"Labour’s West Midlands regional organiser, Mohammed Yasin, was suspended last night after The Sunday Times approached the party with a dossier of his activity on social media. Labour has launched an investigation."

"For more than two years Yasin, not to be confused with the Labour MP with a similar name, shared anti-semitic posts and 9/11 conspiracy theories, praised a homophobic preacher and described his former leader Tony Blair as a “child-killer”."

Labour's links with racism/antisemitism just won't go away. It really is time for the party to sort itself out.

" The way to prevent Iran funding Hammas is to address the Palestinian problem and insist the UN rulings on Israel are upheld."
But how?
Given that the present rightwing govt. in Israel is backed to the hilt by the USA.
And Trump's early promise to solve the problem seems to have fizzled out.

trisher Thu 27-Dec-18 11:54:30

You are right PECS I think the assumption is that the Palestinians should not only accept what has been done to them but should bow their heads and say "thank you" politely as well.
POGS if you don't understand that the problems with Iran are the results of Western interference and therefore different to Saudi which is purely a matter of choice, I can't help you. The way to prevent Iran funding Hammas is to address the Palestinian problem and insist the UN rulings on Israel are upheld.

PECS Thu 27-Dec-18 11:05:41

Trisher it is OK to ignore the daily humanitarian degradation of Palestinians by the Israeli government forces. They are only of Arab origin so don't have a right to expect to be treated as people. It is OK to denigrate their legally elected leaders as terrorists and ignore the terrorist origins of modern Israel. The destruction of ancient olive groves, the illegal land snatching, the redirection of water courses, controlling of electricity supply, building a wall, controlling checkpoints to prevent access to hospitals and work, the several 100s of under 16s in Israeli detention..it's nothing they are only Palestinians. Israel has a powerful & highly sophisticated armed force to defend itself from stones.

Why is Iran another question when it is the backer of
Hezbollah and Hamas to name just two terrorist organisations. ?

If Saudi Arabia is brought into the equation then so must Iran as that is part and parcel of some of the Middle East troubles.

POGS Sun 23-Dec-18 22:10:10

trisher

I asked :-

' Why do you think Hezbollah and Hamas are blacklisted as Terrorist Organisations by so many countries?'
--

Are you of the belief so many countries are wrong in doing so, including the European Union .?

Anniebach Sun 23-Dec-18 21:58:09

If keeping communication links open is desirable what A pity Corbyn was too busy to accept an invitation to visit the
World Holocaust Remembrance Centre in Israel

trisher Sun 23-Dec-18 21:39:02

I think that one of Hamas's problems is that it started as a terrorist organisation, but then so did the state of Israel. The question should be POGS Why is it that the social work undertaken by Hammas is never mentioned, or the efforts and proposals it has made for progress to peace and why can't it be allowed to move on? I don't know. I do think for some these things provide fuel for anti-Semitic ideas and Jewish conspiracy theories.
Iran is entirely another question. The Revolution there was caused by the Americans seeking to dominate it. The resulting state may not be what we in the west would want but it has a right to decide its own government and our history in that area isn't exactly honourable, selling chemical weapons to Saddam Hussein for use against Iranians was despicable. I always think keeping communication links open is desirable.

His past is easily forgotten or refuted by some but others find it of more interest, especially as he could become Prime Minister one day, hence the lenses is sharply focussed on character and connections.

Absolutely, which makes Williamson and Corbyn's actions very worrying. The "I have forgotten" or "I wasn't aware" excuses hardly inspire confidence in the leader, his acolytes or the Labour party.

POGS Sun 23-Dec-18 20:39:46

Anja, Trisha

Why do you think Hezbollah and Hamas are blacklisted as Terrorist Organisations by so many countries?

Or do you believe that to be ' innacurate information'?

As for Saudi Arabia being raised it could equally be asked about the relationship between Hezbollah / Hamas and Iran/Syria.

The Middle East is too complex a subject to just assume Saudi Arabia is the main protagonist and in the west , thus far, Iran and it's allies are the bigger problem to the west. There are failings all round.

Of course mentioning Iran brings us back to Corbyn and his past appearances on Iran's State Television , PRESS T.V. It is the hypocrisy of who and what Corbyn deems to be ' friends' that arouses so much suspicion and accusations of hypocrisy, at least to many not all. His past is easily forgotten or refuted by some but others find it of more interest, especially as he could become Prime Minister one day, hence the lenses is sharply focussed on character and connections.

Anniebach Sun 23-Dec-18 15:23:59

Men !

Anja Sun 23-Dec-18 15:19:20

Are you obliquely thinking ‘stupid men’ then? ?

Anniebach Sun 23-Dec-18 14:48:35

trisher. Corbyn uses the same excuse as you.

The anti semetic wall mural ? ‘ I didn’t look closely

The anti semetic group ? - ‘ I didn’t read the posts

The wreath laying ? ‘I was there but I don’t think I was
involved

trisher Sun 23-Dec-18 14:20:51

Stupid -yes! Careless-yes! Anti-semitic-NO!
If you sign a petition without fully investigating what you are signing it is a silly thing to do. But that doesn't mean you share the views of the person in question. Really this is becomng something of a Star Chamber.
And the real tragedy is that true anti-semitics are laughing because with every silly accusation you are actually recruiting to their ranks, but you are too busy using the subject for political gain to consider what is really going on. As for the right wing press, do you really expect me to take their rants seriously?

Day6 Sun 23-Dec-18 14:01:41

* trisher* - but really it's pathetic, how some people try to blacken someone's name.

You mean the national papers? The story is out there. Yet another Labour MP involved in an antisemitism gaffe.

They are giving themselves the bad publicity. How can you defend such stupid 'mistakes' by men who want power, in a Labour party with one racist scandal after another following it? Their hostility and discrimination towards Jews is shameful, and they bluster afterwards - after being found out - that they made 'mistakes'.

I'd have more respect for Labour supporters if they were concerned too.

trisher Sun 23-Dec-18 10:59:24

No one is sweeping anti-semitism "under the carpet" but really it's pathetic, how some people try to blacken someone's name. Someone signs a petition to allow a band like the Blockheads to play without checking the credentials of the person playing with them, and they are labelled anti-semitic. I hate to bring it up but such behaviour typified fascist regimes where people were denounced by their children for failing to comply with the regime's regulations.

Chewbacca Sun 23-Dec-18 10:19:09

Correct Anniebach. It's never a good time to sweep anti semitism under the carpet and as Christmas is all about Christ, King of the Jews, now would be the perfect time to stamp it out.

Anniebach Sun 23-Dec-18 10:01:25

Christmas is not a reason to protect anti semetics ,

Anja Sun 23-Dec-18 05:20:55

Eh bah gum lass lighten up! It’s the early hours on Sunday 23rd December ....nearly Christmas.

Peace and good will to all men (and women) and all that. Try getting a good nights sleep and you’ll feel better in th’morming.

Day6 Sun 23-Dec-18 01:10:38

Stop Press: You just couldn't make it up.

Yet ANOTHER Labour MP, Chris Williamson, a vociferous supporter of Jeremy Corbyn, has been branded a 'Jew Baiter' as he is embroiled in support of a musician known for his antisemitism, holocaust denial and hatred of Jews.

www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/chris-williamson-labour-mp-signs-petition-gilad-atzmon-blockheads-islington-council-1.474213

How many days go by without someone from Labour being exposed in this way?? It's dreadful.

This Labour MP has supported an anti-semite and then blustered he wasn't aware he was. Has Jeremy Corbyn written a guide to getting yourself off the hook? grin

In his rush to promote his right-on-ness, Williamson did no research. The lack of attention to detail isn't what you would expect from a group who want to run the country, is it?

Williamson, back pedalling like fury apologised. "Since then I've learned that Atzmon, a former Israeli soldier, is not confined to the jazz world. I am told that in various blogs and in speeches he has adopted antisemitic language^

I wasn't aware of this until after I tweeted the petition.

^As soon as I was informed, I deleted the tweet"

Antisemitism clings to the Labour party. It's disgraceful.

Is this an attempt to win the Islamic vote, maybe? hmm

I would phrase that differently- how many tens of thousands of lives have been saved due to UK intervention?

How many tens of thousands of people have been murdered by this county poking its nose into places it shouldn't?

ps and killing innocent children. So, presumably, you would have been happy to have helped to kill the two young children in the Warrington bombings, one aged 12 and one aged 3.

I am appalled.
You have shown your true colours.
You are no pacifist.
