A small number of back benchers will announce they are leaving the party this morning.

Chuka Umunna is one who may be among them.

This might interest some.

Every Leave constituency here where the MP voted Remain.

I am in the middle of cooking so haven't checked out Tory defectors Soubry, Allen and Wollaston yet, but I imagine none of the Independent Group would face happy homecomings from the voters in their constituencies.

If they set themselves up as Independent (Remainers) at the next GE, it would give the Remain voters in their constituencies a pro EU candidate (even though we hope Brexit issues have been resolved by then!) I'd like to see the outcome of that.

"The MP (MP Fiona Onasanya) currently sits as an independent in Parliament, having been suspended by the Labour Party after her conviction." From BBC website.

Mawbroon

That is why I asked the question and expanded it to All MP's in my post.

I was thinking of MP Fiona Onasanya who was kicked out of Labour before she was found guilty of perjury, convenient. She is now an Independent refusing to allow a bi - election.

Ex Lib Dem MP Stephen Lloyd who ' Resigned the whip' now an Independent.Ex Labour MP Kelvin Hopkins

Ex Labour MP Ivan Lewis who ' Resigned from the Labour Party'

Ex Labour MP Jared O'Mara ' Resigned from the Labour Party'

Ex Labour MP John Woodcock ' Resigned from the Labour Party'

Ex Labour MP Frank Field ' Resigns Labour Whip.'

Thank you Andy. Much appreciated.

I do hope the electorate of Luton are wise as to the goings on of their wealthy Labour MP Andy

Ah - they are. This from the local paper.

"Markus Keaney, chairman of Luton South Constituency Labour Party (CLP), said: “There is no chance of him getting re-elected without standing on a Labour Party ticket. “He will be absolutely annihilated and he will be confined to the dustbin of history where he belongs.
“As a CLP, we’re very disappointed that a lot of us put aside political differences with Gavin in 2017 to knock on doors and work towards his increased majority – which he only got because of Labour’s 2017 manifesto .”

My MP voted Leave but we, his constituents voted Remain

Pretty vile I would say.

A traitor indeed...

He's the bloomin' Foreign Secretary!

andycameron69 Wed 20-Feb-19 17:26:46

This so called Independent party is funded by Gavin Shuker. Labour MP South Luton, where I live.

Here 72% of us voted Leave in the referendum

He avidly supports remain despite that, so goes against the will of democracy nationally, and my own Constituency..

Pretty vile I would say.

A traitor indeed...

best wishes

Badass Baz says he made a "formal complaint" about Labour letting Derek Hatton back in on the same day Luciana Berger quit.

Nobody was speculating that Israel was donating money but that the group Friends of Israel may be.

Annie & others why do you think criticism of a country implies hatred for its people? There has been a lot of criticism of the Venezualan government but we do not equate that with hatred for Venezuelan people.

Annie You know that my father grew up in what is now Israel. He lost his family home. My family is dispersed all over the place. This was due to a political ideal not because of Jewish individuals. It is almost impossible for me to express my legitimate views on Israel without accusations of anti-Semitism . In the past you have asked me what Palestine had to do with the Labour Party. My answer is just as much as Israel has.

Day6 Wed 20-Feb-19 17:14:54

In my opinion to even speculate Israel could give money to these 11 MP’s because several are Jews is anti semetic.

So we musn't mention it, even though it has been reported in several papers, and then dismissed? That it happened remains a fact Annie.

It is not an 'attack' or a 'smear', merely a report of something that happened. Don't be too quick to label innocent people. That is quite offensive.

Anniebach Wed 20-Feb-19 17:04:44

It is against the law for other countries to donate money to any political campaign in this country .

In my opinion to even speculate Israel could give money to these 11 MP’s because several are Jews is anti semetic.

Carry on, I left the party because of racist attacks and smears , I certaintly don’t want to read it here

PECS Wed 20-Feb-19 16:56:48

Not every mention of Israel is anti-semetic! It would be inappropriate for any political party to be funded by a powerful lobby group for another nation whatever that nation was!

As it is there is no evidence to suggest that is the case. The gossip has rightly been swiftly squashed. Again if it had not been Labour would have been slagged off for not doing so..but is equally s being sneered at for do denouncing it! No win !

Day6 Wed 20-Feb-19 16:52:16

There is much on twitter from anti semites saying the same as you Day6

Annie, I am reporting what I read, in an online GN debate. ie: looking at all the angles. That does not make me anti-semetic!! Get a grip!

I abhor all types of racism.

POGS Wed 20-Feb-19 16:46:56

Listening as I type to Parliament ' Live' ANTI - SEMITISM DEBATE.

Barry Gardiner is doing his best but nobody is fooled and as with other Anti - Semitism Debates the evidence is as clear as a pike staff.

Labour changed when the Jeremy for Leader/ Corbyn/Momentum party took over the Labour Party.

Anniebach Wed 20-Feb-19 16:43:43

in my opinion this gossip is anti Semitic, the 11 who have left their parties are not all Jews

PECS Wed 20-Feb-19 16:40:01

There is bound to be speculation, as LB is a former director of Friends of Israel and has been a victim of anti Semitism, that it maybe where any funding for any new political group might be coming from. There is no evidence this is the case. Just gossip.

Anniebach Wed 20-Feb-19 16:38:59

Anti semites ? It would explain Labour HQ insisted the MP gave a full apology. There is much on twitter from anti semites saying the same as you Day6

Day6 Wed 20-Feb-19 16:30:19

Yes, the Israel connection to the new group was mentioned in a couple of reports yesterday. Like I said, Labour paranoia maybe?

PECS Wed 20-Feb-19 16:29:17

Baggs not sure that title will help their political careers! grin I quite like Tigger's unbound energy and enthusiasm for anything and everything as long as he has friends! wink

Day6 Wed 20-Feb-19 16:28:47

why did they vote for her

As mentioned, she was dropped into a very safe Labour seat. She couldn't lose. Not all constituents vote for a person, many vote for a party.

Anniebach Wed 20-Feb-19 16:27:05

Day6 maybe Israel as well ?

A labour MP said similar yesterday and HQ demanded she made a full apology . Think there was a fear of being sued .

Day6 Wed 20-Feb-19 16:26:43

Seems both main political parties are in disarray

They are, without doubt, but it is the dummy-spitting Remainers who have caused waves by defying their leadership at every turn. Most political commentators are saying that the anti-semitism within Labour has been a very convenient coat-peg on which Europhile Remainer MPs can hang their hats.

Make no mistake, this is a pro Brussels, pro EU group and as I mentioned yesterday, Blair is likely to come along shortly to bolster it or at least endorse it.

PECS Wed 20-Feb-19 16:26:28

because Annie in GE people usually vote for the party not the person.. otherwise parties of all colours would not drop in up & coming outside candidates!

Anniebach Wed 20-Feb-19 16:23:59

If Luciana’s constituents disapproved of her , why did they vote for her

Southern and privately educated? ?

Day6 Wed 20-Feb-19 16:19:59

(L Berger) she has always been regarded by the local people as an MP who was parachuted in to a safe Labour seat.

Yes, was reading about her yesterday. She is southern, and privately educated.

I nearly threw up this morning listening to former Conservative Heidi Allen go on (as she joined the Remainer Party) about "how much she LOVED her constituents"

She wants them to love her back presumably when there is a by-election. hmm
