'Great news, 'ISIS bride' is stripped of her British citizenship.
Javid got it right, thank goodness.
We need tough and determined decisions in these cases.
I'd vote for any party which stuck to their guns...metaphorically speaking, of course.

Terri Sometimes I press send and then read it back and think 'what on earth does that say?'

Jabberwok Thu 21-Feb-19 10:20:56

Picking people up for grammar, spelling, punctuation and so on is just plain rude, end of!! If you are in doubt as to what somebody means, then of course you can, (tactfully!) ask, but never correct. Gabriella, your comments about Annie were quite unacceptable and I suggest you give your forthright attitude a bit of thought before you cause serious offence!

TerriBull Thu 21-Feb-19 09:46:07

Yes KatyK my phone goes rogue when it feels like it, sent my husband a thumbs up emoticon to one of his texts, which came out as question marks, leaving him quite puzzled grin

KatyK Thu 21-Feb-19 09:38:01

My phone often changes my words to one it considers to be correct!

TerriBull Thu 21-Feb-19 09:23:30

Lets not forget Annie is bilingual, and one can't expect those who have more than one language to be precise with their spelling all of the time.

sodapop Thu 21-Feb-19 08:34:50

Thanks Marydoll just what I was going to say.

Marydoll Thu 21-Feb-19 08:16:30

Totally unnecessary for you to pick Annie up on her spelling, Gabriella! ?

BlueBelle Thu 21-Feb-19 07:56:48

Well she doesn’t have dual or duel citizenship, Bangladesh have said she doesn’t belong to them and a person cannot be made stateless, so she will be back to her place of birth which is UK
Oh Gabriella go and have a drink and chill out

Marmight Thu 21-Feb-19 07:50:46

It must be amazing to be so perfect, however, in answer to your comment (para 2), read the last part of my post from the word 'even'...
Like Jane I do hope you feel more refreshed after a good sleep.
I won't comment further on 'your' thread.

Jane10 Thu 21-Feb-19 07:27:07

Hoi Gabriella! That's enough. I hope you got to sleep and wake up in a pleasanter mood!

GabriellaG54 Thu 21-Feb-19 04:01:32

I do things my way, and don't take kindly to being told what I should and shouldn't do regardless of whether or not the meaning is clear.
Do you know for certain that it was an error?
Plenty of people on here can't spell and that's a fact. Should you let them carry on in ignorance?
Why do we learn English language in school if it doesn't matter how we spell? Ridiculous.
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

GabriellaG54 Thu 21-Feb-19 03:53:21

She's never going to be an asset to this country so keep her out...unless, of course, there are some of you who don't mind the government tipping up more of your taxes to keep her and 'her?' offspring for the next 60 years. ??????
She sure as heck won't ever be offered a job here, not that she'd be looking.
Who's to say it's her child anyway?
It might just be a ploy to get herself into the UK...young mother...sob ?...je ne regrette rien but pity me. I was a foolish 15 yr old and now have a child. Yeah, pull the other one. ??

Marmight Thu 21-Feb-19 03:48:31

Don't be so pedantic Gabriella, it's a simple spelling mistake and even if it wasn't, we know what Annie meant.

GabriellaG54 Thu 21-Feb-19 03:36:36

Dual Anniebach
A duel is a fight.

Chewbacca Wed 20-Feb-19 16:56:18

She was made to serve more than one ISIS man before she met this one

That's not what SB said in her inital interview yggdrasil. She told a CNN reporter: "When we first crossed into Syria we were held in a couple of houses because we were suspected of being spies. We arrived in Raqqa, where we were placed in a "house for women." Here, she said, she "applied to marry an English-speaking fighter between 20 and 25 years old."

Doesn't sound as though she was forced into anything there does it?

Jabberwok Wed 20-Feb-19 16:15:05

I think he's been captured by the Kurds. He could well be dead by now or at least imprisoned with little hope of them ever being reunited. I wouldn't think any marriage between them would be recognised in any country particularly in the West. Whose to say if he is indeed the baby's father? This is the problem, we simply don't know who is what or what is who!

RosieLeah Wed 20-Feb-19 14:08:45

What has happened to this supposed husband? Was she perhaps planning to bring him to the UK? I wonder exactly what their plan was.

yggdrasil Wed 20-Feb-19 13:52:23

"The child is just as much claim to Dutch as British nationality."

Was there any marriage between her and that Dutchman? That is doubtful, except as ISIS defines it, which has no international significance. She was made to serve more than one ISIS man before she met this one, who seems to have been better than the others, but could now be dead.
This is no 'warrior' who might prove a danger in the future, this is a damaged young woman who was radicalised at the age of 15 and at least deserves compassion

Jabberwok Wed 20-Feb-19 12:11:54

Exactly suzied!

suzied Wed 20-Feb-19 11:46:28

Very unattractive person no desire to have her in our midst - but will she be more threat to the UK if she goes to Bangladesh?, given that most radicalisation/ terrorist planning goes online these days. She will be bringing this child up to be a jihadi no doubt. At least if she were in the UK, we could charge her with terrorist offences, lock her up and take the child into care.

Jabberwok Wed 20-Feb-19 11:38:15

That is true, but could it be that she is afraid of showing remorse bearing in mind the Isis supporters who are undoubtedly in this camp? How can we know what her genuine frame of mind is? Is she playing the game or is she genuine? Is baby for real or even exist? So many imponderables!

Telly Wed 20-Feb-19 10:52:44

On the face of it, it seems like a good decision. However it would seem that there will now be lots of legal wrangling so as usual the lawyers will be the only winners. Incidentally I wonder who is paying for the legal advice? Legal aid? I also wondered about the baby and the fact it was literally kept under wraps. The child is just as much claim to Dutch as British nationality. She has no remorse for her actions so it does follow that she does represent a danger to society.

Jabberwok Wed 20-Feb-19 10:42:45

You're right! The first two? We can't categorically know of their existance! Presumably new baby can be verified? but then again, it could be someone else's!! Perhaps my concern for her is misplaced! What a conundrum!

Urmstongran Wed 20-Feb-19 10:33:48

Is it verified or just recounted that 2 previous babies died? Has she had a baby now? How would we know?

Jabberwok Wed 20-Feb-19 10:25:50

Well, yes, hiding baby, or appearing to does seem odd! Who knows what's really going on in this young womans mind. She's already lost two babies in horrible circumstances which, as many on here will agree is very traumatic, and perhaps has made her over protective of her third little one? I'm not excusing her or even particularly pitying her, just trying to see what maybe a wider picture - or not, who knows? I still think she needs to be in a place of safety where experts can interview her and try to make a proper assessment of what exactly is going on in her mind and deal with her appropriately.
