Well it is £16.8 thousand pounds surely we cant expect her to pay that herself out of the vast amount she takes off the taxpayers? This parasitic family makes my blood boil.Anyone else who wouldn't pay their rates would find themselves in court or vacating the property ...WHY should they be different ?They still USE all the services dont they?

lemon Is she paying NO! She's appealing! If she'd just paid fine but she hasn't. She can afford to. Others who can't afford to are made bankrupt and then have to pay the costs of the bankruptcy. It's disgusting!

Btw £3928 is the rate for band H in Aberdeenshire!

mcem Thu 21-Feb-19 16:59:04

Band D here £1634 currently and 3% increase to come.
I assume Balmoral would pay band H council tax on the castle itself but the going rate for business rates on the estate or perhaps the house is included in the estate as part of the business.

lemon try reading- IF ONLY

lemongrove Thu 21-Feb-19 16:51:18

Who says they won’t pay? They are appealing against it, hardly the same thing.

trisher Thu 21-Feb-19 16:32:42

If only she WOULDN'T pay. I believe lots of councils now are making non-payers bankrupt in order to get their hands on the property. Can you imagine HRH up in court and forced to sell something (Oh I know it's impossible, but it is a way of highlighting what is happening. There was a programme about it on Radio 4 and one man who committed suicide just before the bailiffs arrived)
It is disgiusting that someone who has the means to pay won't and someone who hasn't can be hounded so badly.

Thanks PECS, I just took quick look at the site, silly me

Anniebach Thu 21-Feb-19 16:05:17

Why are bands here not one sum for one band , band A is
£44,000, the only band with one sum

PECS Thu 21-Feb-19 16:03:23

Annie Not sure those figures are quite right.. they are more than Her Maj is being asked to pay! think that must be the value of the property not what you have to pay!

Elegran Thu 21-Feb-19 15:52:43

£ 1,682.84 & £1,893.21 is my area's band C & D council tax for 18/ 19. I do not live in Weymouth though!

mcem Thu 21-Feb-19 13:53:26

Those figures were for Feb 2019 on Telegraph website and I just put them out there to give some realistic comparison. I simply picked at random one from North of England, Scotland and Wales to compare with Ken and Chelsea. I believe it confirms the unfairness of council tax.

Jalima1108 Thu 21-Feb-19 13:42:34

I don’t give a fig how much wealth people have as long as they pay their due’s.
I get more annoyed about the likes of Phil Green.

gillybob Thu 21-Feb-19 13:41:47

Mines much higher than that mcem

gillybob Thu 21-Feb-19 13:40:51

The poorest areas tend to have the highest council taxes .

mcem Thu 21-Feb-19 13:39:58

England's highest annual charge @ band D is £1726 in Weymouth.
Lowest annual charge @ band D is £678 in Westminster.

mcem Thu 21-Feb-19 13:30:04

A few random examples of council tax rates (band c)
Ken & Chelsea. £998.29
Gateshead. £1669.00
E. Renfrew £1450.64
Bridgend £1532.00

Anniebach Thu 21-Feb-19 12:54:01

We know she pays her rates gilly ?

POGS Thu 21-Feb-19 12:49:08

Gillybob

I am more surprised at your council tax payment.

That is very high.

gillybob Thu 21-Feb-19 12:48:54

I don’t think we will ever know Annie smile

Anniebach Thu 21-Feb-19 12:42:08

Doesn’t she gilly ?

Jane10 Thu 21-Feb-19 12:39:17

I agree PECS. All businesses (and people) should pay their taxes. No reason for estates etc to be exempted. Historical hangover that people just didn't know about? I certainly didn't.

gillybob Thu 21-Feb-19 12:34:31

I don’t give a fig how much wealth people have as long as they pay their due’s

And does she annie ? hmm
