Yes, there WERE hundreds there who were not eligible to vote - by virtue of the fact they were in pushchairs, or baby slings!
There seemed also to be many people who had been too young to vote in the referendum, but wanted their voices to be heard.
It was very family friendly with children and grandparents there in abundance. Some people from the reaches of the very far north had set off yesterday afternoon and we saw flags and banners representing all areas of the UK.
Loads of fun banners and placards too- liked - “Ikea has better cabinets”, “Fromage not Farage”. It was also good that the message from the speeches were - reserve your criticisms for the liars, not the lied to.
Gosh there are some sulky comments both on GN and elsewhere about the March and the petition aren’t there? Such petulance and toys all over the floor
Yes, the comment about the numbers not being a surprise because London voted remain. I personally know about a dozen people who were on the march, some with children, who came from all over the UK and from abroad too- at great cost having to stay overnight, and others getting up at 2am to be there on time. It was not at all a Londoncentric march.
It’s good to hear that there were lots of you not from London. Listening to the BBC news, they seemed to imply the numbers were so great because London is a remain area. ( I.e. just people from London there!). Wecouldn’t Go but DD and two GC went. They’re from Lincolnshire. Train packed most going on march.
On the train travelling back to North Wales. What a fantastic day Marching and chatting with people of all ages, from all areas of the UK and of all Political persuasions. It was a peaceful March everyone sharing a common goal, to get another vote. So many of us did not know what we were voting for. We know so much more now. If MP’s can have more than one vote, why can’t we?
From the petition thread, from Icanhandthemback:
'But, just because they are marching, it doesn’t mean they are all eligible to vote.'
so, you good people who were on the march- did you meet lots of people who looked like they would not have the right to vote? Russians, from Mars or Timbuctu?
bravo GN friends - btw, was there 100s of 1000s of Russians there - sent direct from Putin to falsify the numbers?
Just asking - because of the accusations re The Petition. Thanks.
On the train now, travelling home after an exhausting day. Was it worth it? Yes, absolutely.
Will it change Anything? Probably not, but at least I added my voice to the million others. It was a very friendly march.
You all looked amazing - thank you, merci, Danke, grazie. Proud of you GN wonderful marchers x
Yes a good day, all very friendly and good humoured. Great speeches.
Brilliant day at the march. Everyone polite and in good humour. Only fly in the ointment one brexiteer who was shouting abuse in Parliament Square. Says a lot. Home now, and exhausted.
Well done to all the peaceful protestors and safe journey home. You've done what you can and nobody can say anything about the numbers. Thank you all for trying.
What a fantastic day. A million peaceful people marching through London.
We are now back on our coach just about to leave. We set off at 8am, but we met some people on the march who had left Orkney at 2pm yesterday!
So proud of all those who will be marching peacefully and in good humour today. I absolutely wanted to be there, but family has to come first right now.
There with you in spirit 100%. I wonder if the BBC will, yet again- give it hardly any coverage at all.
Bravo x
The problem we have is that neither party wants a divorce but one party is prevented from saying that loud and clear because mischief-makers got us into this stupid situation.
Those of us who have been through relationship divorce know that all divorces are always difficult, and the party that doesn't want the divorce will throw up endless obstacles.
The European Union has been exceptionally tolerant of the appalling waste of time and money caused by the tiny majority of UK voters who were fooled into voting for brexit. The EU negotiators have bent over backwards to accommodate idiots like Boris Johnson, David Davis, Dominic Raab and whichever other quitter is now the brexit secretary.
They have patiently put up with the ludicrous demands of these brexit fanatics and carefully explained the rules of the club that they are trying to make us leave. They have made concessions, which they had no obligation to do, and eventually reached a withdrawal agreement with Theresa May.
Then she goes back to the EU wanting to renege on that agreement because she can't get it through her own party, let alone parliament. They politely refuse to break their rules which are observed by 27 other countries just to keep the Tory Party in power in the UK.
In the meantime the EU, all 27 other countries and businesses all over Europe and indeed all over the world, have had to waste countless hours and billions of £s preparing for the eventuality that the UK leaves the EU, with or without any kind of agreement.
Like most British people, I just want this wasteful nonsense to stop and when it does we will owe the EU27 and the rest of the world an abject apology.
Don't blame Europe for 'being difficult" i.e. not giving us the moon on a stick. Blame lies within her own party - the so called ERG and the DUP for not supporting May.
Varian - I think another people’s vote is a waste of time .... that’s what got us into this mess. May as well ask our dogs and cats!
The people voted out. TM is trying to deliver this. Europe are being difficult - why wouldn’t they be? Many MPs are thwarting any kind of deal - why wouldn’t they? Some didn’t want to leave and the rest are being unrealistic. Labour, or what used to be Labour, are trying to use the situation as political leverage. So let’s ask the people!?!? Do you want to stay in or accept the deal?! Why not just let the rabble take over the country? We are not far off it already.
Corbyn and his front bench have let the country down. They have not provided the opposition we sorely need to this appalling Tory brexit government. If this brexit nonsense is not stopped, they must share the blame.
A cross party motion for the people to have a vote was put forward yesterday, the speaker dismissed it . Cable was one named, Corbyn wasn’t or one of his shadow cabinet
An interesting piece in the brexit-supporting Telegraph today-
Unlike the path to reach this point, the process of revoking Article 50 would be fairly simple.
The government would send its notification to the European Council in writing – in much the same way as it started the process.
The ECJ's ruling said that this notification must follow “a democratic process in accordance with national constitutional requirements”.
While this part of the ruling is open to interpretation, it is logical that given the UK Supreme Court ruled that Article 50 could only be triggered with a vote of parliament, it would also need to be revoked by a vote of parliament.
It is also valuable to note that the court ruling stated the decision to revoke Article 50 must be “unequivocal and unconditional,” meaning that the UK would have to make clear that it wished to maintain its EU membership rather than revoking the notification in order to extend the Brexit transition period.
Would the EU have to approve such a move?
The UK could revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU without any permission being needed from the other member states.

I believe that it would best for Parliament to vote to Revoke Article 50 as explained in the Telegraph. However if they fail to do this, the question must be put to the people in a referendum on whether to accept May's deal or Remain in the EU.
well we cant,
it will happen. I am awake to this exciting fact
