Any fellow Leavers who would like to use this thread to post GOOD NEWS (away from Remainer doom & gloom)?

How about this for starters:

Norway’s $1 trillion (£753 billion) sovereign wealth fund – among the world’s most respected investors – has just confirmed it will boost its UK holdings. “Over time, our UK allocation will increase,” said Yngve Slyngstad, the Norwegian Fund’s CEO. “With our 30-year-plus time horizon, current political discussions don’t change our view,” he added, reaffirming his commitment to Britain even in the case of a no-deal Brexit.
This kind of clear-sighted, grown-up analysis contrasts starkly with the endless doom-mongering we get from subsidy-hungry politicos at the CBI. It’s precisely because Britain will thrive after Brexit that we attracted record foreign direct investment last year, beating the US, with only China attracting more. Even British start-ups raised almost £8  billion in venture capital during 2018 – some 70 per cent more than their French and German counterparts.
Boeing has opened its first manufacturing plant in Europe – in Sheffield. Technology-driven investment is piling in – not just to London but to Manchester and the North-East too. And, as Brexit-bashing stories about planes not flying are trumped by reality, investors from China to the Middle East are flocking to a country just judged by Forbes magazine as the “best place in the world to do business” for the second year in a row.
Yes, overseas investors are taking advantage of the weaker pound, which makes UK assets look attractive. But that’s how exchange rates work – which is why Europe’s monetary union is so crippling for many of its members.

Sorry for the long post but I’m not keen on links!

GG I don’t like reheated ready meals, so I don't frequent the ‘Spoons, I apologise if you’re offended by the mispelling. I do occasionally see the big Eurotruck going in there with their deliveries and chat to the nice girl from the Czech Republic who works there. So it’s not all bad.

Our democracy was corrupted by foreign interference, illegal overspending and the lies of the crooked leave campaigners.

They blamed the EU for problems caused by successive UK governments, made promises that were undeliverable and fooled people into voting to damage our country and make themselves poorer.

Gosh varian you must be pretty determined to have posted on THIS forum before 7am!

And not to be curmudgeonly Grandad yes, you’re posting GOOD NEWS! You and your workers are the beneficiaries of extra paid work which for any individual, has got to be pretty darn good. Bank the money in case further down the line much leaner times are a-coming (according to some Remainers) but at least you’ll all have a cushion to sit on whilst you ride out that uncertainty!

More Japanese firms plan to quit the U.K. from today’s Independent.

The Independent is a staunch Remain newspaper. It organises and supports anti Brexit people’s marches and petitions. Sigh.

Anyway this is a GOOD NEWS forum!! Maybe all you gloom buckets would like to start a separate thread so that you can depress one another to your hearts content (and us lot can swerve it)? Funny really why you don’t.

You all seem to get such a frisson of excitement shooting us down if you can on HERE and searching for negativity wherever you can. Sad really. Must make for a bad tempered and depressing outlook! Of course we will soon expect tohear how you are all ‘realists’ who care more for the economy and Britain than we do .....

Different experts =
Different viewpoints =
Different votes at the polling station. (remember that??)

Might as well make the most of it as we ARE leaving!

You're as much of a comic as andycamerongrin

What on earth makes you think that we would leave this thread alone? It's a gift

Urmstongran Tue 05-Mar-19 08:04:42

I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist! Hey ho.

Yes I suppose andyC and I are optimists. No, not delusional. Just happy people.

There are some of us about. ?

PamelaJ1 Tue 05-Mar-19 08:52:27

Another optimist here but I’m leaving now.
The pessimists have beaten me.
I’ll go and be happy elsewhere.
Have a good day.

Urmstongran Tue 05-Mar-19 08:58:16

I don’t blame you PamelaJj this site could have been so uplifting.
It’s wearisome keep getting shot down.
But that’s what miseryguts do best.
Sadly.

MazieD
What a hypocrite. You are doing the very thing that you castigated me for doing.
If you don't agree with correcting glaring spelling errors then that's your prerogative, however, don't 'points score' by telling me what I should and should not do.
Moderators? Yes.
You? No.

andycameron69 Tue 05-Mar-19 09:07:19

another day closer to No Deal. Exciting times

No deal is the only true exit.

Treason Mayhems deal is remain.

Out we go, I am elated and thank you for such a great thread.

grin grin grin

GrannyGravy13 Tue 05-Mar-19 09:09:30

I think those who voted remain should give up on their negativity and embrace the UK not becoming a Federal State if Europe, a nice way to celebrate lent!!

andycameron69 Tue 05-Mar-19 09:10:46

GG so true, a great post

grin

Nobody KNOWS what will happen when we leave. Many "experts" put forward their opinion - which are as varied as there are experts.

I am uncomfortable with those who seem to be relishing the thought of UK failing so they can say "I told you so". I prefer to think we are much more resilient - there may be tough times ahead but we will get through them.

Urmstongran Tue 05-Mar-19 09:59:06

Well said Oldwoman take a recommend ??

Oldwoman70 Tue 05-Mar-19 10:07:00

Thanks Urmstongran - as my super-powers include either my posts being ignored or killing threads this may well be the last post here grin

Urmstongran Tue 05-Mar-19 10:15:05

Nah! This wonderful uplifting thread WILL continue! Keep posting oldwoman as it might end up just you and me hehe! (the mean people are quiet - maybe somewhat chastened now Ssh! ?)

Oldwoman70 Tue 05-Mar-19 10:31:52

Probably googling any apocalyptic theories they can find so they can post lots of links!

The Royal Horticultural Society’s magazine reports what taking back control really means. Michael Gove, the Secretary of State, is banning slug pellets – well ahead of those Brussels bureaucrats.
?

Urmstongran Tue 05-Mar-19 11:12:59

And yesterday Iain Duncan Smith, the former Conservative leader, said: “It is crystal clear that the Government has to keep no-deal on the table and whip against an extension.
“That’s what she has said for two years. She has to oppose anyone trying to take it off the table and to reject an extension. That will make the EU sit up and understand that we are serious.”
?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 05-Mar-19 11:19:29

Let’s hope so Urmstongran ??
