Extending Article 50 is the best route to getting the final say for the people. MPs voted on several amendments this evening - including one that contained a people's vote, which failed.

Best for Britain and the People's Vote campaign have been clear - today was not the right time. Events are moving fast and we need time to build the consensus and the majority in Parliament for a vote that can win, very soon.

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 19:31:16

yeah let us have loads of referendums to please those who lost the vote,,,,with the biggest voice

empty vessels make the ..................

Gonegirl Thu 14-Mar-19 19:27:47

Actually, just one more referendum could be enough. People know now what a mess Brexit gets us into.

varian Thu 14-Mar-19 19:26:47

Or a new meaningful vote in the HOC every day in the week?

Gonegirl Thu 14-Mar-19 19:26:11

Well, it sounds like it could be end of June. (sorry andy)

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 19:24:42

we may be able to have a a new referendum every month maybe?

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 19:23:37

well let us have loads of referendums and see what happpens
how many shall we have until remain win? if ever?
those words " could" mean nothing

oh and I am allowed my opinion by the way

smile

Gonegirl Thu 14-Mar-19 19:23:02

Where do you get these names from andy? The "new porker". grin

janipat Thu 14-Mar-19 19:14:14

Andy, why are you so terrified of another referendum? Possibly because you know remain would win by a large majority?
I think your giggle giggle in the face of what experts believe could be shortages in many areas, and particularly in cancer treatments, is vile. Do you really think yourself so much better informed in all areas than the experts? Donald Trump syndrome!

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 19:13:37

the new porker is a left wing rag, so silly

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 19:12:20

you love to prove point nonsense...

Education is not the same as intelligence

No, it isn’t Anna.
But education broadens people’s view of the world and teaches them to think objectively.

anna7 Thu 14-Mar-19 18:32:13

Notentirelyallhere- I hope you are joking re your comments about limited intelligence and factory workers. There are plenty of MPs with public school educations who have got us into this mess and plenty of factory workers with intelligence and common sense. Education is not the same as intelligence.

varian Thu 14-Mar-19 18:21:53

How many meaningful votes in parliament?

andycameron69 Thu 14-Mar-19 18:20:18

yup just leave no eu deal wto the best, simple I say the only option in law. now how many more referendums shall we have?

varian Thu 14-Mar-19 18:19:34

EU membership has been great value for money. The cost of Brexit so far (and we have not even left) is a tragic waste.

‘Britain’s agonising national humiliation’ is how the New Yorker describes it.
That’s a polite way of saying ‘laughing stock’.
It’s easy to blame the politicians.
It was ‘the People’ who elected them. We all bear responsibility.

he economic impact of the Brexit vote is being felt even as the clock ticks down until Britain’s scheduled 29 March exit date.

Last May, Bank of England boss Mark Carney told MPs that the cost of Brexit to the UK economy was already £40bn and counting.

Giving evidence to the Treasury Select Committee, Carney said the result of the 2016 EU referendum had already knocked 2% off the economy, leaving each UK household £900 worse off, on average, than they would have been had voters opted to remain in the bloc.

That was “an awful lot of money” for families struggling with high inflation and stagnant wage growth, he added.

Our country is the laughing stock of the world, it’s so embarrassing. We’re making ourselves look idiots

What a strange thing to say or even think nanasam

Does it worry you? No me neither.

Our politicians are the laughing stock of the world maybe, (DEFINITELY the laughing stock of the UK - self serving, pompous, self-righteous elites, most of them) but I don't suppose many people in bars in....Italy, Estonia, Latvia, Germany etc, etc, are creased up laughing or even talking about Brexit. It is OUR concern.

Our elected representatives have made a complete hash of it. We voted OUT and could leave with no deal. The Remainers have made that course of action impossible. I am angry - but not so much that it is going to effect my daily life. my goings on. That's why we may be scoffed at in Europe but I don't imagine many ordinary mortals are following proceedings closely and waiting with baited breath for our next move, or cock up.

We are only significant because of the BILLIONS we pour into the EU every year.

I do not blame EU bureaucrats one bit for saying "Enough!" I wish a majority of MPs could say the same in the House of Commons and determine we leave as promised asap, deal or no deal.

notentirelyallhere Thu 14-Mar-19 18:09:07

It's interesting how many of you are allowing yourselves to be wound up by someone obviously intending to do that. Might be Nigel Farage, the level of comment is similar. God help us if people who view the world so simplistically find their way to influence and power. I'm beginning to think life was better when you needed a public school education to enter politics and those of limited intelligence and capacity were confined to life in the factory. Oops, the excitement of the day is breaking my recent promise to myself to avoid this forum, silly me.
