That said, here is some GOOD NEWS for U.K. holidaymakers!

Today, in the Graun:

‘The uncertainty over the future of the UK’s relationship with the EU has generated an unexpected no-deal bonanza with holiday companies slashing prices to Europe in April.

The price drop has come in response to the public’s nervousness about passports, car insurance, health insurance and the value of the pound in the event of no deal.

In an analysis of more than 100,000 holidays across more than 25 providers, Travelsupermarket found significant discounts when it compared the coming Easter break with last year’s.’

Germany makes stuff people want to buy washing machines, ovens, heavy machinery, cars, etc etc that’s why they sell more stuff to China. Simples.

Mea culpa Grandad it certainly started out that way and that was my intention.

Then it got hijacked and ‘lost the plot’ (see the multitude of downers comments on here!) so guess what? I stopped trying to hold it together as it was being assaulted by all sides.

Even my little ‘recommends’ gained opprobrium!

So, from my perspective it’s become ‘good news plus’!

Urmstongran, as the opening poster on this thread you stated that its purpose was solely to promote only "good news" in regard to Brexit matters and in that you have chastised those who you consider to have placed "bad news" regarding brexit in the thread.

However, you are now implying in your above posts that a "no deal Brexit" would be "good news" for Britain when very many would consider that situation coming about to be the worst news possible in terms of their employment etc.

Therefore Urmstongran, in the above you have proven that this thread is solely to promote what YOU consider to be good news, and in that the rediculas reasoning you had for opening this thread.

What is so galling about the EU is the smoke and mirrors. It’s never as egalitarian as it promotes.

This, from Jennifer Rankin in the Graun this morning on a piece explaining the CU:

‘Proponents of an independent UK trade policy outside the EU customs union say Britain must forge its own deals if it is to take advantage of the world’s fastest-growing economies. However they have never explained why Germany manages to export more than three times the value in goods to China than Britain does, while also being in the EU customs union.’

Funny that.

So yet again, nothing gains a majority vote yet again in the indicative votes!

Could we be heading for Leave on WTO a week on Friday?

Clean and decisive.
Be still my beating heart!

Ahh Thankyou Urmstongran. Good to know it’s cheered you up.

Urmstongran Mon 01-Apr-19 18:48:33

Love it Bridgeit ? that was SO clever!
Take a recommend lady for cheering (some) of us right up!

Farage might have tried to challenge brexit, that is why DC made it clear that it was a one off, once in a lifetime, etc, in order to prevent such a challenge going anywhere! As we now know that backfired, and what was an attempt to squash any dissention on the part of leave was in fact a home goal, one of many!! Since then it's been a tissue of lies, self interest and complete rubbish, to the point where I simply don't care what our pathetic self serving politicians vote for! A JC government? Who the hell cares?!!

Bridgeit Mon 01-Apr-19 18:15:11

Some of you want to Brexit Here ( Brexiteer tra la tra la)
Some do not want this to hear ( tra la tra la)
One of us asked for a happy note.
The response has been a little mote ( no tra la)
So I am doing my best, to raise the bar ( tra la tra la)
I am confident this won’t go far,
Unless you ladies join in & sing
Some positive notes for this Brexit thing .
In years to come when we are gone, who then
will sing a Leavers song ??????
Perhaps an ode to sad remainers OR perhaps Europe may again reclaim us.!! ??

Urmstongran, just like Farage was going to contest the referendum if it was a narrow win.

Lemongrove

I'm aware that pople don't agree with me, I just thing it's impossible to have a lighter thread.

lemongrove Mon 01-Apr-19 12:00:16

It was The Guardian Dinah so it’s a given that ‘not everyone agrees with Urmstongran’
I don’t think ( on GN) that everyone agrees with your views on Brexit either.
Urmston attempted a lighter thread that’s all.

Double bluff April Fool's joke from The Telegraph-

"British April Fool's jokes have been banned this year under an archaic parliamentary order, amid warnings the public can no longer tell the difference between reality and farce.

The statute from 1653 states that the issuing of false reports is strictly prohibited and punishable by the splitting of an offender’s ribs.

Officials in the Cabinet Office have taken the unusual step of asking media outlets to refrain from publishing the traditional stories on April 1 in case they trigger panic buying or spark riots.

The original statute was imposed by Oliver Cromwell when he became convinced that the public's mocking of his warts was undermining attempts to crush royalists after the civil war."

About 2 weeks ago I read a post on the Guardian which jokingly referred to Gransnet and the topic of Brexit, good news and kindness and I immediately thought that I should look at this. I have just realised that the referral was to this specific thread and am relieved to note that not every one agrees with Urmstongran. I'm pleased to note that there is not much agression but to believe that there could be a Brexit thread without any doom and gloom is perhaps a little naive.

lemongrove Sun 31-Mar-19 21:16:42

Urmstom yes, I saw it, what a classic! grin

I very much doubt whether leavers are interested in clicking on biased links.
How sad, to keep pushing a dead agenda an, in the end, having to concede defeat.
I may even allow myself a small smile on that day.

Urmstongran Sun 31-Mar-19 20:16:59

My post isn’t good news.

Did anyone see Andrew Marr's interview with Major today? It was an absolute classic.

After listening to Major say we should have a soft Brexit or Revoke Brexit or have another referendum between Soft Brexit and Revoke Article 50 (ie. a Remainer stitch-up 2nd referendum), Marr played 3 clips of Major before the 2016 Referendum saying if we vote Brexit there wouldn't be another referendum, we'd just LEAVE and we'd be gone and would have to make the most of it. He was saying all that assuming Remain would win.

Now they've lost he's completely contradicted himself and watching Marr screen that old video whilst he's sitting there today was some of the best telly I've seen all year. Well worth a look on iplayer if you didn't see it. The old fool has completely undermined himself and all the Remainer arguments at the same time. Best he head off to pasture and tend his roses.
