Just joined GN and I thought this would be the place to ask. On the news today I heard them talking about getting rid of Mrs May and getting a “proper brexiteer”.
What’s one of those?

Well after the dog’s dinner the HoC have come up with (so far). ... the customs union which is not a customs union would not mean frictionless trade so it's back to the backstop which can only be a backstop if it is actually a backstop.

It's bloody ridiculous.

No wonder NF’s Brexit Party is badly needed.

maryeliza54 Sat 13-Apr-19 08:33:36

Of course many people will vote for Nigel - many people have voted for wicked right wing populists in the last century and much good it has done us all.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 13-Apr-19 08:13:06

crystal

Yes I have been trying to find a policy intent from The Brexit Party, but so far failed. Be grateful if you find out more you could give me the heads up please.

Urmstongran Sat 13-Apr-19 08:11:19

You can sneer all you like many people will vote for him.

crystaltipps Sat 13-Apr-19 08:01:15

Perhaps Nige lovers can tell us what the difference is between The Brexit party and UKIP? Don’t they want the same thing? Haven’t they got the same people in them? What are their policies on climate change, education, health and social care? Interesting.

P.s. it’s Malaga, not Marbella (couldn’t afford that even 15 years ago when we bought out here. And our place is tiny. Not entitlement at all. If you saw it you’d feel mean saying so. Do you ever comment Lily65 that way to the grans on here who live in large detached houses who employ cleaners and gardeners? No, thought not.

Urmstongran Sat 13-Apr-19 07:45:36

Different horses for different courses ladies.

It is very heartening to find that the vast majority of posters understand the “dog whistling” that is taking place from individuals like Farage, Johnson et al., and the evil intent behind it.

Ginny42 Sat 13-Apr-19 07:12:20

Urmstongran, I think your last sentence is the most chilling statement I've read about Brexit anywhere, and you purport to speak for all Leavers? Really?

A 'clean Brexit' is a disturbing concept as we try to unpick the complex fabric of our nation's life for the last 40 plus years with the least damage to our society. To sever the legal, financial and cultural links we worked hard to set up, you and Mr Farage think we can just lop off the umbilical chord which has tied us to the nations of Europe, like snipping through some string.

He excites you? Have you listened to Farage's verbal assaults in the EU Parliament, the very place where he has earned a good living and from which he will draw an excellent pension? That does not seem to me to be the act of an honourable person. A responsible person does not-threaten to ' put the fear of God into our politicians.' That is rabble-rousing and totally reprehensible. At a time when politicians are fearful for their safety, some members of our society don't need Farage urging them to put the fear of God into them. That is a threatening behaviour.

Nigel is one of the despised elite establishment - as for Rees Moggs .......hardly representative of the workers. Definitely from the elite - talk about power grabbing. They talk the talk but definitely won’t be walking the walk!

Lily65 Fri 12-Apr-19 22:54:24

UG God help you if Nige excites you. Do you not see that your ivory tower with your little crash pad in Marbella is all about wealth and entitlement?

maryeliza54 Fri 12-Apr-19 22:49:38

Urm you can’t sign a petition to deselect an MP - what utter rubbish. How incredibly politically illiterate some people are.

Urmstongran Fri 12-Apr-19 21:56:25

Stereotypical nonsense Lily65 when have I ever stated I despise immigrants? Such nonsense! I love Europe. I don’t like the EU.

Farage excites me because he supports a clean Brexit. He speaks for us Leavers.

Urmstongran Fri 12-Apr-19 21:53:12

It just gets better ....

There’s an article in the Castleford and Pontefract Express and the Wakefield Express on Monday - apparently More than 23K people have signed a petition on Change Dot Org to deselect Normanton Pontefract and Castleford MP Yvette Cooper (This is now 31.5K) The petition accuses Cooper of failing to represent her constituents and calls for her to step down as MP !

Here we go, here we go, here we go ! ??

Lily65 Fri 12-Apr-19 21:52:11

UG, sorry but why are you excited? Why do you own property abroad and yet despise immigrants?
Why does Farage excite you?

I just don't get it.

Brendon Cox “Hope not Hate”

We must all of us take responsibility for our language and people who have the most responsibility are those would be leaders.

Farage’s “ Fear of God” speech falls way below that standard.

Urmstongran Fri 12-Apr-19 20:43:38

Well I’m excited about NF’s new Brexit Party.
Go Nige!

Mr Farage revealed some of the 70 Brexit Party candidates who would be fighting the elections, with Annunziata Rees-Mogg perhaps the best known. Some may remember Ms Rees-Mogg, Jacob’s sister, from her days as an A-list Tory candidate who David Cameron was very keen on campaigning as “Nancy” Mogg. In her new Brexit Party guise, she declared that it was impossible to “stand by” while “our democracy has been so betrayed”. Incidentally, her Eurosceptic verve is not to be sniffed at – Jacob once described his sister as “my Brexit conscience who ensures I do not go soft”.

Protesters blocked the road outside an Aldi store in Neston. Wirral because it's German. They demanded that Brexit should happen now, shouting, 'This is Brexit and 'We are here'.

They used cars and camper vans to close the road. It might have had greater impact had one of the vehicles not been German.

This is much nicer

Whitewavemark2 Fri 12-Apr-19 17:19:49

carly I think a “proper Brexiteer” includes the disaster capitalist elites like Rees Mogg, who will make a killing if we crash out of the EU.
They are hoping to make a bonfire of our tax and environmental regulations like water and air quality, that exist in order to make our life tolerable.
Rees Mogg has already indicated how relaxed he is to see pollution rise to Indian levels “we could say, that if it is good enough for India, it is good enough for us”
The dark money that helped achieve Brexit, will be put to use to achieve a de-regulated post brexit Britain.
They will fight as hard and dirty as they did to win the vote.

Some people would be able to move abroad and of course some already have second properties abroad.

Lots of other people have way more to worry about than a slight increase in the cost of breakfast cereals.

crystaltipps Fri 12-Apr-19 16:36:58

Yes there is a lot of I’m alright jackery about.

CarlyD7 Fri 12-Apr-19 16:12:29

A "proper Brexiteer" is someone, in my opinion, who wants a hard Brexit (i.e. that we leave the EU without a deal). They keep saying "we'll be alright" because THEY will be alright, because they're usually people with a lot of money. Prime example is Nigel Farage who in 2017 said on LBC radio that if Brexit was a disaster he would "move abroad". Of course he can - having a German wife and millions of ££. Or maybe Jacob Rees-Mogg who has made millions out of the plunge in the value of the £ from his investment company (head office in Dublin). This is an interesting discussion!

crystaltipps Fri 12-Apr-19 16:04:06

Yes I agree some very childish posts have been made especially those ones with numerous irrelevant lists and emojis.
