hmm I wonder how many 'Remain' MPs have offshore accounts, Cayman Isles, IoM...certain Swiss cantons...

EllanVannin Wed 27-Mar-19 13:26:05

They're all the damned same, looking after their own interests------all parties. You never see any local MP's except when there's a GE. Well they can all bog off !!

oh my - principles? oh my oh my- earned millions in last few years on if tax haven businesses- paying not one penny towards our NHS, schools and services. If you call that 'principled' then there is no answer to that.

He's a jolly decent chap who just happens to be awfully well connected.

Liking the irony of your title, maryeliza

Jacob Rees-Mogg’s Company Accounts show c£103M profit over last 5 years, but paid ZERO UK corporation tax as ultimate ownership in Cayman Islands. No contribution for schools, hospitals, roads, defence, public services, welfare etc. No wonder he is keen to avoid new EU tax laws.

If thats the tory view of principles god help us all !!

This man of principle has amassed a lot of money in off shore accounts in the Cayman islands, defends off-shore investments thereby avoiding paying tax in the UK and thinks food banks 'rather uplifting'.

" By the way Beammeupscottie do you actually know what a grockle is?"

Obviously not.

Eazybee I am with you

I think he’ll support May’s deal even though he claims it is worse than remaining and has voted against it , but then oust May and try to gain power with Bojo.

Beammeupscottie

"This man represents everything people hate about the Tories;"
-----

You use the word ' HATE ' which is in fact the crux of the argument behind most comments about not only individual Tory MP's but about Tories in general.

I have often noted GN posters use the word ' HATE ' when referring to the Conservatives and to be honest if the mindset is to ' HATE ' then as sure as night will follow day there will be no debate nor discussion as that is an impossibility in the eyes of those who ' HATE'.

eazybee Wed 27-Mar-19 11:52:05

Yes , Jacob Rees-Mogg is exactly that, a man of principle.
He, and many others in the Conservative and Labour party are attempting to find a way out of this morass that Theresa May's criminally inept negotiations have landed our country in, fuelled by the refusal of a number of Remainer voters to accept the result of a democratic vote.

And such a pleasure to hear an erudite man who expresses himself clearly and grammatically, so that even the most biased and prejudiced members of society are able to understand what he says.

maryeliza54 Wed 27-Mar-19 11:47:59

Frankly what type of MP he is is irrelevant to the fact that after all his posturing he is flying in the wind with regard to which way to vote on Mays Deal. He’s always wanted no deal because that way he’ll make most money but in the face of no Brexit, he’s going for a delayed Brexit - it’s all about what suits him. This man has no principles whatsoever. I have more time today for those members of the ERG who at least are sticking to their guns.

25Avalon Wed 27-Mar-19 11:47:44

By the way Beammeupscottie do you actually know what a grockle is? It is what the locals call a holidaymaker visiting Devon or Cornwall although in Cornwall they are also called emmets.

MawBroon Wed 27-Mar-19 11:47:36

Saw the title and spluttered my coffee everywhere!

Gonegirl Wed 27-Mar-19 11:46:15

I think he always sounds like a consultant giving out really bad news. Those poor children. Imagine being told off for some misdemeanour by him! Must be terrifying.

25Avalon Wed 27-Mar-19 11:39:25

He happens to be a good constituency MP as all of us who voted him in are well aware. Not all voters were tories either. Why are you so rude about him? As Eleanor Roosevelt said "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

Beammeupscottie Wed 27-Mar-19 11:30:55

This man represents everything people hate about the Tories; the entitlement to rule; putting Party above people; a fossilised view of what Britain is to-day. All presented with a kind of charmless witlessness in a measured tone that the upper class adopt when talking to the grockles.

maryeliza54 Wed 27-Mar-19 10:54:06

He’s really stuck to what he believes in hasn’t he? His supporters must be so proud of him ( not to mention Nanny of course). So he gets the chance to change his mind but the great unwashed don’t?
