I can only assume these people know what they are doing.

And let's never allow the most important decisions about our country to be made for fear of standing up to the likes of EDL, UKIP, BNP, Farage, Tommy Robinson or Vladimir Putin.

Lily65 Tue 09-Apr-19 14:48:16

I suppose a few of them might dig out coloured leg warmers and give a hearty rendition of Fame.

James O'Brien outlines how Brexiteers have found themselves blaming the Queen for the current state of Brexit.

www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/james-obrien/brexiteers-blame-queen-for-mess/

Some brexiters have never forgiven her for wearing that nice blue hat.

Kandinsky Tue 09-Apr-19 15:41:39

If brexit doesn’t happen, Tommy Robinson will probably end up being our next MEP.
You’d have to laugh wouldn’t you.

jura2 Tue 09-Apr-19 16:03:09

No I wouldn't laugh- at all. And if anyone did- they would seriously be in need of their head looking at, for sure.

The hard right is posting death threats all over the place, to Anna Soubry and now Yvette Cooper, and others- of the most despicable and disgusting form, Farage is saying he would take up a gun - inciting violence- all illegal of course.

So if you find it funny - shame on you.

Kandinsky Tue 09-Apr-19 16:09:36

If TR was voted in by the British public it would be democracy in action.
Not sure how you can argue that.

suzied Tue 09-Apr-19 16:21:43

Just shows democracy isn't all its cracked up to be. Ditto Trump, Hitler, Mussolini, Berlusconi, Erdogan etc. You can argue the people don't always make the best choices. But a healthy democracy is one in which you can challenge and oppose the status quo without fear of intimidation, violence. imprisonment or worse and people can change direction if negative consequences of choices become apparent.

jura2 Tue 09-Apr-19 16:57:29

So Farage is now saying he will pick up a gun- the dreaded Mark Francois says the 'Perfidious Albion' will destroy the EU if we don't get ERG's way- social media is full of death threats, rape threats and more ...

and they blame the Remainers - of course, the latest vilest comments blaming our Queen. How despicable.

And JOB, as so often, has got it spot on:

She was chosen (TM) by a process which is an integral part of our own system of Parliamentary Democracy- the one Leavers keep saying we need to go back to - but only when it suits them.

maryeliza54 Tue 09-Apr-19 17:50:40

I wouldn’t describe that that was how she was chosen

GabriellaG54 Tue 09-Apr-19 18:29:48

His words were taken out of context.

If someone says that their boss held a gun to their head as a way of explaining that he had given that person a deadline by which to finish some work, only a fool would imagine that the gun and threat were real.
Are you a fool?

Funny...that NF was a laughing stock when he announced that he was going on the recent 200 mile march.
No-one on here believed that he was really walking the whole 200 miles but you are very willing to believe that he meant khaki>rifle>front line when he gave that speech.

For anyone to spread those words as being a threat or say that he absolutely meant that he would physically take up arms rather than the metaphorical context in which it was cloaked, is to fall in line with the 'Emperor's New Clothes' brigade.

If you want to foment anger...carry on. I can't say that it would be on the conscience of those who choose to repeat it, as they are, imo, devoid of that aspect of morality.

James O'Brien is the only commentator on FB who gets more comments than likes.

GabriellaG54 Tue 09-Apr-19 18:37:41

Something more.

^^Mr Farage said: “We can spend two years with this farce, there is a big, big world out there and I am beginning to think that perhaps Mr [Yanis] Varoufakis is right when he says about negotiating with the EU it is a technocracy that is desperately clinging onto its own exorbitant and illegitimate power.

“You may have crushed Greek democracy two years ago, you ain’t gonna do it to us.”

maryeliza54 Tue 09-Apr-19 18:38:17

And your point is? I follow him on Twitter- that’s his real platform

maryeliza54 Tue 09-Apr-19 18:38:38

That was to petra

jura2 Tue 09-Apr-19 18:53:01

GG54 'His words were taken out of context'

what do you mean. He said it in a speech given to Leavers- and the context is that of already one murdered MP, and disgusting death and rape threats made to MPs like Anna Soubry and Yvette Cooper, and others, all over social media, FB and Twitter, and during marches and on the streets. THAT is the context sad and it is seriously dangerous. Probably illegal too as inciting violence.

Oh the irony. And I'll take you right back to your own comment above- there is no fixing that.

It’s time this thread was wound up, it’s unpleasant.

Not in my name ... the hate.
Not in my name ... the narrow mindedness.
Not in my name ... the sheer ignorance of it all.
Says it all
Don’t engage with fascist enablers who say things but don’t “mean” them aka “lies”. Plenty of them around.

GabriellaG54 Wed 10-Apr-19 06:30:43

Name names then smarty.

This thread seems to have gone way off topic - please resume to the original discussion.

well I think I have a solution, divide the Country in half length ways East & West, (makes a change from North & South )build a Hadran style wall down the middle, swop
lives, toss a coin for who gets which side, (perhaps remainers should be on the right closer to Europe,) each side separately governed etc etc that should sort it out. ?
