What do we think of Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party?

Whatever side of the debate you’re on he is very watchable.

I wonder how they’ll do in the elections ( if we have them )

Firecracker123 Thu 09-May-19 07:32:57

Yes I agree Urmstongran and we're not handing over £39 billion.

crystaltipps Thu 09-May-19 07:38:06

No we’d be spending double that on replicating everything.

Firecracker123 Thu 09-May-19 07:42:50

DUP politician Sammy Wilson said the Irish Border is a red herring. "There's no real problem, as the EU have now confirmed. If they say in the event of no deal we'll not be putting up any border, then what's the issue?"

Urmstongran Thu 09-May-19 08:29:52

Yep. Different tactics and that £39,000,000,000 would have been a huge inducement to ‘negotiating’ around that Irish backstop!

Who on earth goes in to bat for the country and says ‘you know what - we won’t walk away from working something out - we will just sit here and see what you’d like to offer us?’

Crazy stuff.

It’s been said the EU don’t want to open the WA because they themselves are delighted with it! No surprise there then.

Firecracker123 Thu 09-May-19 08:45:30

Yes certainly crazy stuff. I can't help thinking that the PM and the most ardent Remainers who want to sign us up to the worse deal (Treaty) in history must be getting back handers or promises of something in the future because why keep pushing this WA Treaty.

Could you explain why this is in any way relevant to the negotiations between the EU and the UK? Firecracker123?

The EU feels it needs a hard border at the only land border they have with the UK. This is because we are talking about doing deals with countries they have chosen not to (as yet). They are also aware they have to protect their member Ireland. Nothing the DUP can or have said will alter that.

Lily65 Thu 09-May-19 09:47:02

the " old chestnut" is pretty damn important.

Jabberwok Thu 09-May-19 10:11:18

If the referendum was only advisory, why did MP's sign up for article 50?!! Why go into a G.E on the back of delivering Brexit? Why not just refuse the advice and carry on as usual! Surely those who signed and were elected by fooling their constituents that they were serious in delivering Brexit are every bit as guilty of deceit and duplicity as the people running both those campaigns, probably much more so, as people actually believed their MP's! Sadly they were mistaken! A hard lesson now well learned! Not sure that many people will fall for the 'Dominic Grieves' of this world again!

Urmstongran Thu 09-May-19 10:53:57

Correct Jabberwok well said.

Watch out Yvette Cooper, Anna Soubry, Jess Phillips and all the other MP’s who have decided their vote is worth more than yours or mine. Their days in the HoC are numbered and they bloody well know it.

Nigel will hoover up votes and it serves them right. Leavers gave them the chance to deliver Brexit and they fudged it. Bye bye!

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-May-19 10:59:30

There is a lot of water to go under the bridge before we get the chance to vote for Farage at a GE.

I doubt that many MPs are quivering in their boots at the thought of him entering parliament.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-May-19 11:16:11

There are a number of articles looking at the lobby group calling itself the Brexit Party.

It is the first party since Mosely in the 30s. Which is based on conspiracy theory and emotional response.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-May-19 11:28:09

Twitter Ian Dunt

“What will the Brexit Party do if elected?
We don’t know because they won’t tell us.
What are their policies?
We don’t know.
How can we assess their performance if elected?
We can’t
There is absolutely no basis available to exercise individual judgement
There’s just emotion. A perpetual scream of betrayal, and conspiracy theory.
You can’t trust anyone, so trust this party, and base that trust on feelings, which can’t be challenged, rather than on ideas that can.”

Urmstongran Thu 09-May-19 11:28:28

They will in time.

It is said revenge is a dish best eaten cold. We can wait.

And of course there’s a lot of emotion being released into the Brexit Party. 3 years has been a long time watching Remainers in charge of Brexit. Time to move on!

trisher Thu 09-May-19 12:58:32

Whitewavemark2 When Nigel comes to power questions like yours will be strictly censored.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-May-19 13:03:07

Mosely mark 2.

That is the worry

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-May-19 13:13:22

Money laundering now being whispered.

moggie57 Thu 09-May-19 13:19:04

i'm all for brexit party. theresa may been farting around long enough. and we all had enough of the tory party anyway..... money money money...last three years debating a deal .no deal just leave. no 73 billion to europe........well done nigel farage...with you and brexit all the way...

GracesGranMK3 Thu 09-May-19 13:32:11

The Farage party haven't got the music yet Whitewave and they do say the devil has all the best tunes; it will come. Watch and weep; that's how it makes me feel.

When losing the argument bring in the Nazi taunts, laughable if it wasn't so pathetic, Remainers losing the fight and the plot it seems.

GracesGranMK3 Thu 09-May-19 13:59:43

No, Firecracker, (Thu 09-May-19 13:37:17) just feeling very sad about the direction our country is taking.

I see you didn't answer my question by the way. All emotion and no reason as has been said and that is just what that song depicts.

Lily65 Thu 09-May-19 14:12:35

I watched that song a couple of days ago, thinking very much the same thing GGMK3.

And as for " Remainers losing the fight", this is something bigger and far more terrifying.

Urmstongran Thu 09-May-19 14:24:02

Desperate posts here - fascism, money laundering.

It couldn’t possibly just be that us Leavers have found one party to represent our voting wishes whilst Remainers will have theirs split between Greens (love it, let’s forget about the lies over EU diesel emissions!), Lib Dem. or independent parties.

The smears will doubtless continue about the Brexit Party.
Hey ho.

Urmstongran Thu 09-May-19 14:27:12

The Brexit party has announced the former Tory-supporting businessman Mike Greene as its candidate for the Peterborough byelection.

Greene, who appeared on Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire, will stand for Nigel Farage’s new party on the 6 June.

GabriellaG54 Thu 09-May-19 14:40:33
