Well Trump has been invited by those at Buckingham Palace to come to Britain for an official state visit. So we can all forget about Brexit, and stop wringing our hands in dismay at Farage and his antics, and we can turn our attention towards a new fashion, hating Trump.

Discuss.

The ‘real’ IRA as they styled themselves, never accepted the Good Friday Agreement, it put a halt to their lucrative criminal activities, no doubt the self styled ‘new’ IRA are the same criminals and thugs.
Two or three teenagers are being hunted for the murder of Lyra McKee, I wonder if they feel big men now? !

Here we go again with the idiotic Corbyn, refusing to attend the dinner, he really has been raised above his real pay grade. He continues with rebellious back bencher antics......who can seriously imagine this plonker as a PM.
That’s a rhetorical question btw, as I know he has a few fans on here.

Interesting Whitewave he wanted the very opposite to the IRA .

After the Brighton bombing Corbyn invited 2 IRA members to Westminster, suppose now he is party leader he won’t invite members of the new ! IRA

Callistemon Fri 26-Apr-19 19:48:06

Grandad1943 what's your opinion on the murderers who think of themselves as the New IRA who killed Lyra McKee? Do you feel so sympathetic to them?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 26-Apr-19 19:12:04

Voice of a radical

“During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die”

After this speech Nelson was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Apologies should be apartheid in my post above, not Aspartate. confused

Grandad1943 Fri 26-Apr-19 18:58:33

Anniebach Quote [Still puzzled, Mandela a radical ?] End Quote.

Anniebach, of course, Mandela was a radical. He was opposed to the Aspartate government of South Africa, who at one time was accepted as the legitimate government by almost all governments in the world.

The above made Nelson Mandela a radical for change and viewed as a freedom fighter or even as a terrorist by Margaret Thacher.

Anniebach Fri 26-Apr-19 18:47:53

Still puzzled, Mandela a radical ?

Anniebach Fri 26-Apr-19 18:46:26

Cannot see any similarities between the rupublicans of N.I
and the Black South Africans during ,Apartheid , grandad1943 can, by comparing them.

Grandad1943 Fri 26-Apr-19 18:32:44

Anniebach Quote [Wonder if the families of the Birmingham bombings think of the IRA as freedom fighters] End Quote.

Well, Tony Blair eventually negotiated the Good Friday agreement with the IRA, and they most certainly consider themselves as "Freedom Fighters."

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 18:19:38

Did you mean properly btw because it works ( although in a different way from probably) ?

Grandad1943 Fri 26-Apr-19 18:18:59

Callistemon Quote [ Are you saying the people who just killed that young journalist are freedom fighters then, Grandad1943?] End Quote.

Callistemon, I am saying that the Causes people represent can be viewed entirely in a different light given the passage of time. No one sanctions indiscriminate killing in support of any cause, but radical elements will always attach themselves to freedom causes.

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 18:18:23

Here we go again. Yawn.

Anniebach Fri 26-Apr-19 18:15:54

Corbyn properly thinks snubbing the queen and the American President will get him more votes .

And he praised President Chavez !

Wonder if the families of the Birmingham bombings think of the IRA as freedom fighters

Jabberwok Fri 26-Apr-19 18:15:48

Surely not!! Perhaps J.C does?!!

Callistemon Fri 26-Apr-19 18:09:55

Are you saying the people who just killed that young journalist are freedom fighters then, Grandad1943?

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 18:05:14

I’m sure they’ll meet him this time don’t worry

Jabberwok Fri 26-Apr-19 18:04:06

I think P.C and P.W should meet D.T! It's the position of President you're insulting, not the person!

Grandad1943 Fri 26-Apr-19 18:00:29

kittylester Quote [Bit rich of Corbyn when he is happy to hobnob with the IRA and various other lawless organisations.] End Quote.

One persons terrorist is another persons freedom fighter kittylester.

I seem to recall that Marget Thacher once addressed Nelson Mandela as a Terrorist, while Winston Churchill spoke of Gandhi as a half-naked Fakir.

How the passage of time can change any perception.

kittylester Fri 26-Apr-19 17:54:01

I have no idea maryeliza, I would be grateful if you would explain as I suspect it wasnt kindly meant.

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 17:53:01

Just looked it up, Wills wouldn’t meet him either. Utterly shocked ??

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 17:52:19

kitty you know very well what my post meant. ?

kittylester Fri 26-Apr-19 17:50:37

Please explain your comment to me, maryeliza

maryeliza54 Fri 26-Apr-19 17:49:58

Didn’t Charles snub DT when he was here last year?

Callistemon Fri 26-Apr-19 17:48:25

but a welcome from all - apart from Prince Charles, Jabberwok!

Grandad1943 Fri 26-Apr-19 17:42:30

Jeremy Corbyn is not part of the Government or Crown establishment. Therefore, it is for him to decide if he wishes to attend the Trump state visit functions, and in not doing so I feel he will have the support of the whole Labour movement.

Although, thinking about it I expect the likes of Margret Hodge and Margret Beckett will find fault with the above as usual. No doubt Hodge covertly recorded on her phone Corbyns statement to the media that he would not be attending any of the state visit functions. grin
