Names are coming along at a regular basis, and with May having a meeting with Brady today, it is likely that she will be persuaded to give a date of her departure.

So let’s start looking at who would make the most suitable Tory leader.

The first out of the hat is Boris Johnson.
His first hurdle is facing court to defend the charge of lying before the referendum.

I’ve started another thread for those obsessing over Corbyn etc. You can chunter away there to your hearts content, and leave this thread for the Tory Leadership.

thank you

To bring a touch of humour ( and vulgarity) into the 'Who will be the next Tory leader?' discussion.

Fab spoof on News thump today, showing Larry the Downing Street cat stood at the podium announcing he is throwing his collar into the ring.

Someone commented that 'Larry is the only one in Downing Street who licks only his own arse' grin

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 11:56:08

Yes the rest are busy licking other people’s.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 12:04:12

I shouldn’t have said that????

GillT57 Tue 28-May-19 12:08:42

Too late WWMk2, I already had said it! Larry also would ask to leave and then change his mind.......

Callistemon Tue 28-May-19 12:39:51

Just picked up Corbyn is a crafty old fox He isn't capable of it. He is just a nasty little man, the kind who will tread on your toe because he knows you have corns.
sorry, I know this thread is supposed to be about the next Tory leader, but cannot leave that unchallenged. grin

M0nica, Corbyn would be offering soothing ointment, home-made from marigolds from his allotment but telling you he is unsure whether you should use it or not as he can't make his mind up about it.

Ilovecheese Tue 28-May-19 13:44:24

It's hopeless! Only five posts in and the thread is being deflected .

Labaik Tue 28-May-19 13:48:38

Tim Wetherspoon says that Johnson would make a great PM because he has experience of running a magazine for several years. I honestly don't know what this country would do if we didn't have people like Tim guiding us...

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 13:50:19

labaik ?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 13:53:09

Rees Mogg is supporting Johnson- says it all really

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 13:55:33

That’s no surprise surely

Labaik Tue 28-May-19 13:56:08

Could anyone visualise, a few years ago, that someone like Tim would be one of the first people to be consulted on matters of national importance? This taking back of control is wonderful, isn't it...

Callistemon Tue 28-May-19 13:58:13

It's hopeless! Only five posts in and the thread is being deflected
and so it continues with Larry the cat!

who is going to get it back on a sensible track?
suggestions in a box post please

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 13:59:15

Kit Malthouse fancies his chances. Not sure about him, must do some reading

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 14:02:11

JRM upholder of moral values, anti- abortion and divorce backs liar, racist, serial adulterer, abortion payer, multiple wives, mistresses and children haver in various combinations - yep, that’s about right.

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 14:04:14

Don’t you think the name Kit Malthouse sounds like a character in a book? ( sorry Call no help at all)

maryeliza54 Tue 28-May-19 14:05:19

We used to have a nearby pub called the Malthouse - it was a bit of a dive.

Labaik Tue 28-May-19 14:07:26

'Don’t you think the name Kit Malthouse sounds like a character in a book?'..Cold Comfort Farm, perhaps?

Callistemon Tue 28-May-19 14:10:17

still off track then
hmm

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 14:13:15

call we are discussing Tory leader candidates, so what’s off thread?

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 14:15:11

Cats, pubs, books ?

GillT57 Tue 28-May-19 14:16:31

actually my comment re Larry the Cat was intended to bring a bit of humour into the thread. Bloody hell

GillT57 Tue 28-May-19 14:17:24

Kit Malthouse sounds like a hipster brewer. All hops and beard.

GillT57 Tue 28-May-19 14:18:48

At least Rory Stewart has been decent enough to state that he will not work with Boris.

Labaik Tue 28-May-19 14:18:56

Well, Larry is the only strong and stable [and pretty dignified, too] thing in this country at the moment. Can't not give him a mention [imo].
