Remainers keep asking for a Confirmatory vote well in my opinion this is it. All voters have one Vote use it today to vote Leave or Remain at your polling station.

Official results on Sunday night but feel free to do a GN vote here as well if so inclined.

Why do you detest Macron mycat? Do any of his policies affect you in any way?

lemongrove Sat 25-May-19 22:14:51

You can detest a politician without their policies affecting you Welshwife......after all, I detest Sturgeon.
In any case I have read that quite a few French people detest
Macron.

lemongrove Sat 25-May-19 22:15:24

Meant to add......with or without his policies.

maddyone Sat 25-May-19 23:44:39

Macron comes across as quite arrogant, perhaps that’s why mycat doesn’t like him. I’m not keen myself really. To be honest, I don’t much care for any politicians, wherever they live, and whoever they are. I think they probably go into it thinking of the people they’re about to serve, but they seem to forget that once they’ve been elected, and the vast majority of them look after themselves, hence the expenses scandal, and accusations of the gravy train in Brussels.

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 10:50:56

I detest Macron as he’s an arrogant man. I don’t like arrogant men.

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 10:52:26

WelshWife

Do you only have views on people whose policies affect you?

Don’t you have views on international figures? How strange

Welshwife Sun 26-May-19 11:05:30

I do have opinions on international figures but strangely those policies of Macron do affect me directly as I live in France.
When he was elected President he was the one who initially stood out and few of the other candidates did and the run off was between him and Marine Le Pen - so the French went for the safer bet! I had no vote in that election but I have voted this morning.

Nonnie Sun 26-May-19 11:05:44

mycat I accept your apology but would point out that 'only joking' is an expression used by bullies when they are caught out and trying to cover up. I am disgusted with the way I have been treated about this, sad that grown adults can be so bitchy and think it is 'fun'.

What happened to me is not about our differences of opinion but about something which should never have happened, the man behaved badly and should not be allowed to work in a polling station again.

Posters who make it clear they don't trust what I said should look to their own minds because it says far more about the way they think than anything they know about me. It suggests that they would come on here with falsehoods. I defy any of you to find a lie from me anywhere on Gn. It gives great cause to wonder about the judgement of those people. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.

Welshwife Sun 26-May-19 11:08:06

Well said Nonnie

maryeliza54 Sun 26-May-19 11:26:35

I don’t always agree with Nonnie but she’s always open and willing to debate points and I’m sure she would never have posted something that happened personally to her unless it were completely true.

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 11:32:02

Christ almighty what a monumental fuss about a minor incident.

I already apologised that I upset you. It was a joke. If you can’t accept that up to you.

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 11:38:09

I suggest Nonnie, that you are on a path so narrow that there is no room for any freedom of expression.
Some posts sound as if they come from a brand of porridge oats and you take umbrage so swiftly and seriously at the slightest thing.
Lighten up.

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 11:40:49

We don't actually care Nonnie. It's not the end of the world.
What is the matter that you make mountains out of grains of sand?

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 11:53:12

As I said Brexit seems to have robbed the country of a sense of humour.

People see those who disagree with their leave or remain stance as ‘the enemy’ and light hearted fun or discussion is impossible.

The sooner this is settled the better and hopefully we can all get back to a normal sense of proportion and move on.

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 11:55:55

Roll on the floor and giggle, dance naked around the garden at midnight with a vodka mule...anything to free oneself from the restrictive truss of whatever it is which limits you.
I'm sure there are some ways we could help you remove the barricades. A day at a time...eh?
Have a good BH. smileflowers

Calendargirl Sun 26-May-19 12:12:42

Re Nonnie’s post .

As stated by others, if the poll clerk handing out ballot papers showed bias of any kind, then he should not be doing the job. I am a poll clerk at elections, and impartiality is considered of the utmost importance. Not a trivial matter.

Nonnie Sun 26-May-19 12:18:10

Thanks Welshwife & Maryeliza yes, we don't have to agree to have reasonable debate but there is no excuse for bitchiness/bullying.

Have you noticed that all the comments about lightening up etc are just what bullies say when they are pretending not to be bullies. Say something bitchy and then blame the person who calls them out on it.

Freedom of expression is fine but to suggest that I am not telling the truth is not freedom of expression it is playground bullying. Calling bitchiness 'a joke' is just another thing nasty bullies in the school playground do.

If this had happened to a leave voter you would have all been up in arms and so would remainers. Your judgement is clearly not to be trusted. No, you are not going to drive me away and I will not sink to your level.

mokryna Sun 26-May-19 12:20:40

Welshwife How did you vote this morning in UK as I have been unable to vote because I am living in France although I asked for my rights as a postal voter, it was refused.

mokryna Sun 26-May-19 12:22:05

PS I also was not allowed to the French Presidential vote

Nonnie Sun 26-May-19 12:24:56

mokryna I think that you have to have lived outside the UK for less than 15 years, was that the reason?

mokryna Sun 26-May-19 12:26:58

Yes but am still British!!!!!!

mokryna Sun 26-May-19 12:27:11

English

mokryna Sun 26-May-19 12:31:13

Because I felt so English I didn't take dual nationality so therefore deprived of French Presidential voting. So that equals not vote anywhere.
How can people say they don't want to vote as it too much of a bother after all the suffragettes went through to get the woman's vote?
It makes me quite angry

Nonnie Sun 26-May-19 12:39:10

Sorry mokryna no idea why that's the rule though. Can you get French nationality and keep your British one? Think that might be a good idea in case it all gets nasty. I know lots of people who have gained DN because of Brexit. I think the only country that has come out strongly saying they was the Brits is Portugal.

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 12:40:20

Gabriella

So that’s how you spend your evenings I always suspected grin
