This poem just about sums it up for me today.

Yes, she's resigned. But the nasty, vindictive vitriol coming from so many people this morning is unworthy of the rest of us.

Poor woman. She did her best. She worked so hard and for so long, without any useful help from the rest of them. And now all people can do is kick her when she's down.

Personally I think the whole country should give her the biggest and best bunch of flowers possible, and say THANK YOU FOR TRYING SO HARD!

Now let the vitriol continue....

I really think she wanted to deliver Brexit but there were too many in the house doing their own thing instead of the will of the people .. . They literally mocked the vote calling people stupid thick and uneducated . Big mistake . TM is better off out of it .may she go on to enjoy her life without the baying mob that parliament has become .

I feel extremely sad for Mrs.May, she's worked really hard and done her best, with no help from her dreadful ,so called colleagues. Not one of them deserves to be the next P.M.,but whoever takes over,I hope they are treated with the same contempt as Mrs.M.

Gonegirl Sat 25-May-19 18:37:13

That is absolute ROT to blame her for the Grenfell Tower fire. That is pure vitriol.

Gonegirl Sat 25-May-19 18:40:39

WhitewaveMk2 are you really blaming that lot on this one woman. Do you really think that anyone can govern a whole country entirely on their own?

You do seem to have some hate filled opinions.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 25-May-19 18:42:18

The article is saying that May as PM of the Tory Government was ultimately responsible for the disaster. They outlined the reasons why.

JohnD Sat 25-May-19 18:50:58

Perhaps she should have left the job to the Brexit team instead of getting rid of them all, and then she could have concentrated on looking after the Country.

Anniebach Sat 25-May-19 18:52:54

using a tragic event for political point scoring ?

Gonegirl Sat 25-May-19 18:54:51

Yes. A load of lefties shamelessly using a tragic event for point scoring. As Ab just said.

Lindaylou55 Sat 25-May-19 18:57:52

As my daughter said yesterday, everyone is talking about mental health and bullying yet they all thought nothing of bullying and backstabbing her. IF she had been gay, or a person if colour their behaviour towards her would not have been tolerated, they should all hang their heads in shame!

Jabberwok Sat 25-May-19 18:58:16

How on earth can TM be held responsible for the tragedy of Grenfell Towers? This tower block was built in 1974 for goodness sake when TM was 18 years old!!!!! I'd be pointing the finger at lets say Harold Wilson's government, maybe Jim Callahan, Mrs T, T.Blair, but hardly Theresa May!

Elvive Sat 25-May-19 18:59:46

I think she did her best and she wasn't up to the job.

crystaltipps Sat 25-May-19 19:03:15

A load of lefties to blame? Surely it was the extreme right wing Brexiteers in her own party who refused to back her deal as it wasn’t Brexitty enough? What’s wrong with being in a customs union? Turkey is and guess what - it’s not in the EU, ditto Norway which is also in the single market but not in the EU. Before the referendum We were told we could be like Norway. Now it’s all unacceptable , no wonder noone can agree. We were sold a pup.
.

I can see that you followed the Grenfell case really closely...

The flammable cladding was installed in 2016 when the block was refurbished.

If the buck stops at the top doesn’t say much for the top man/men of the Labour Party .

Mrs May has behaved with dignity, something lacking in some party leaders.

So easy to say ‘she should have done this ,or shouldn’t have done that. She faced the unknown.

As for the constant ‘the referendum result was leave by a small majority’. Any athlete coming in second can say , he/she only won by 4 seconds, I demand a re-run.

A MP who wins a seat by only 500 votes can be challenged ?

Missiseff Sat 25-May-19 19:15:00

Christ, if that was her doing her best, I dread to think what her worst would have been. Good riddance, long overdue. Now I fear the takeover. What a mess.

EmilyHarburn Sat 25-May-19 19:15:51

It was an impossible job Theresa May accepted. I do not know if anyone else in the party was better qualified. She did her best. She got no help from MP's but plenty of back stabbing. I am happy at the way she delivered her resignation speech. The end was heart felt and OK in my view. She will be 63 in October. I hope she goes on to some enjoyable job or position before she retires as she was born 1 October 1956 and has a few more years to go.

Amagran Sat 25-May-19 19:19:54

Gloating over another person's humiliation is not good. However, TM is not a saint and while she may have done her best, it sure as eggs wasn't good enough. Her downfall was not brought about by her colleagues, toxic as many of them may be. Her downfall was the result of her own pig-headedness and unwillingness to listen to alternative views, other than those of her husband, and her unwillingness to compromise or consult. She chose to forget that the uk operates a parliamentary democracy, as did Cameron when he facilitated the referendum in the first place.

MaizieD Sat 25-May-19 19:27:26

^ Any athlete coming in second can say , he/she only won by 4 seconds, I demand a re-run.^

And if the person coming second knew for a fact that the winner had been taking illegal performance enhancing drugs, Annie?

Win at any cost is fine? It's the winning that counts, not how you do it?

And to think that I've always thought you had principles, Annie

Amagran Sat 25-May-19 19:27:31

Anniebach, the Leave campaign was predicated on overt lies. Those lies were enough to sway the relatively small difference between Leave and Remain. The campaign also benefitted from dubious financing.

Skynnylynny Sat 25-May-19 19:30:04

Under her watch West Indians were sent back to the Caribbean to die, did she cry for Grenfell victims?, the poor have got poorer, there are more food banks than ever. She cried selfish tears for herself. Do I feel sorry for her - no way!

Joplin Sat 25-May-19 19:30:31

I agree with Gonegirl & thought there were some lovely tributes on the 1st page, also agreed with whywhywhy & Jabberwok amongst others. I even wished T.May could have read them. But they became more & more vitriolic, even, like Peardrop50's post, quite patronising about T.M.'s intellect. From her background I'd say she did pretty well to become Home Secretary then PM, only the 2nd female to achieve that. So it isn't just the politicians & the papers who delight in kicking her when she's down. What a shame.

Anniebach Sat 25-May-19 19:44:40

Really Maizie ? Rather a slur on those who voted to leave.

Anniebach Sat 25-May-19 19:48:58

Hell bells, ‘ did she cry for the Grenfell victims ? What a silly
question, who can say yes or no ?

She didn’t turn up for the cameras, hug victims and declare loudly ‘I feel your pain’.
