True Kate Hoey stuck to her guns alright. She opposed tighter handgun control in the face of an increased terrorist threat. She was in favour of hunting and even took children on firearms training sessions.

It is a just pity she did not resign twenty-nine years ago as she was never a true Socialist but a typical Blairite type who took over the party in the early nineties.

Still, they are all being rooted out now, and the Labour Party is becoming a much better place without them, and long may that continue.

I agree - he’s been the Leavers secret weapon because of his ‘dithering’ (true feelings) for the last 3 years!

If the LP get someone else to steer the ship - Keir Starmer/Tom Watson/almost anyone - the Tory party might have a fight on their hands.

But we fear not. It’s all too little and too late now for Labour and Corbyn won’t go unless he’s pushed. Well not until the next GE when he may step down (Brexit achieved!) and he will toddle off to check his runner beans.

Politics is a funny old game.

Kate Hoey and Corbyn went through the same lobby for years to vote against most things EU related.

Only one of those MP's stuck to their guns, what is now widely called being a ' conviction politician'.

I think there will be quite a few MP's at the next election who will jump before being shoved. I am certainly not accusing Kate Hoey of this I am making a generalised comment. I think Kate Hoey has been a good Labour MP.

I do hope Ex Labour MP Frank Field sticks to his word and fights as an Independent candidate AND WINS.

If JC became PM and if he embarks on a nationalisation “project” I hope he is going to pay Market Price. Lots of pension funds invest in Utility Companies and those with occupational/private pensions could take a hit in their pockets.

LP need to realise that it’s not just the so called “posh rich Torres” who have investments.

The EU elections were mainly a protest vote for either leave or remain almost half and half.

First there is the continued haemorrhaging of Labour’s voter base as we saw in last week’s European elections.

YouGov shows that fewer than half the people who voted Labour at the 2017 election now back the party. Instead, some 43 per cent of 2017 Labour voters are supporting pro “People’s Vote” parties (Lib Dems, Greens, Change UK, SNP, Plaid Cymru).

Second, even card-carrying Labour party members are looking elsewhere. Some 41 per cent joined Alastair Campbell last week and voted for other (mainly anti-Brexit) parties in the European elections.

Third, Mr Corbyn’s personal ratings are abysmal. Asked by YouGov who would make the best prime minister, 23 per cent of voters backed Theresa May, even though she had resigned as PM the previous Friday. But an even smaller number — just 15 per cent — backed Mr Corbyn. To put it bluntly: he cannot beat the Tory leader in an opinion poll, even when she is politically dead.
