The equality and human rights commission have launched
an investigation

Grandad1943 Thu 27-Jun-19 09:03:00

Well, if some forum members wish to bring racism back to the forefront, they should also consider making some post on this Independent Newspaper report on islamophobia in the Tory Party.

Report begins here:-
Four out of ten members of the ruling Conservative Party would not want a Muslim citizen to be prime minister of the U.K., a new poll has revealed on Tuesday.

The poll was carried out by YouGov and the anti-racism group Hope Not Hate as part of a survey that is measuring the scale of Islamophobia in the governing party and found that a similar number of Tories were in favor of putting limits on the number of Muslims entering the country.

According to the poll, more than two-thirds of party members believe the conspiracy theory that certain regions of the U.K. are being governed by Sharia law.
Report ends here.

There is much more information in the full artical which can be found by following this link:-

Now wait for the "diversion of thread" complaints, with no reference made to the disgusting racial attitudes contained within Britains ruling government party.

Lord Faulkner has just spoken out against Williamson .

Anniebach Thu 27-Jun-19 08:55:15

He was filmed speaking out against the apologies for anti semetism in the party.

Fact, but he will be defended by some.

Grany Thu 27-Jun-19 08:51:21

He was filmed getting rightly angry at the false accusations of antisemitism against the party and wanted to make a stand against this.

He is not anti-Semite what a ridiculously thing to say nor are the many Labour members. As I said it was found that the Tory Party has more anti semitism and the country as a whole. I don't think the government would do much about it same as with their anti muslim racism.

Anniebach Thu 27-Jun-19 08:43:58

Wrongly accused ? He was recorded and filmed , I agree he is back where he belongs, an anti Semite in an anti semetic
party.

Grany Thu 27-Jun-19 08:36:00

Chris Williams is an innocent man hard working for the Labour Party who was wrongly accused glad he is back in the Labour Party where he belongs.

Media are weaponising anti-semitisim against the Labour Party (which is the real shame) when it was found that the country as a whole and Conservative party has more anti-semitisim than Labour.

Anniebach Thu 27-Jun-19 08:13:33

Yes decent MP’s, decent party members and decent Labour Party supporters

POGS Wed 26-Jun-19 23:43:33

So no surprise Labour MP Chris Williams is back in the fold after his suspension .

I think there will be decent Labour MP's feeling a sense of despair today.

The Board of Deputies do not seem very happy with the Quakers decision

www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/quaker-boycott-divestment-israel-palestine-profit-from-occupation-board-of-deputies-1.472765

GracesGranMK3 Fri 14-Jun-19 13:52:13

No POGS, it isn't.

I agree Eloethan. Perhaps it's all the thinking in silence smile

POGS Fri 14-Jun-19 11:24:03

The action the Quakers are taking is not being antisemitic though is it.

Eloethan Fri 14-Jun-19 10:51:27

Well done to the Quakers - always ready to put into practice what they believe in, even when it threatens to make them very unpopular, as with slavery and prison reform.

GracesGranMK3 Thu 13-Jun-19 20:24:06

"Quakers will not profit from the occupation of Palestine"

Britain Yearly Meeting has become the first church in the UK to announce that it will not invest any of its centrally held funds in companies profiting from the occupation of Palestine.

The move follows a long history of Quakers working for a just peace in Palestine and Israel. This involvement has, says Recording Clerk Paul Parker, “opened our eyes to the many injustices and violations of international law arising from the military occupation of Palestine by the Israeli government.” “

Court grants new exclusion zone at Anderton Park Primary School to keep students and staff safe

Humanists UK Education Campaigns Manager Dr Ruth Wareham said: ‘It is excellent news that the law has prevailed in keeping students and staff safe from these ugly protests that undermine equality and respect for all. While people still have the right to show their objections to RSE, it must be in a way that is not threatening or harmful to children and others, and those protestors must also understand that this type of inclusive teaching is enshrined in the Equality Act.

Anniebach Thu 13-Jun-19 19:30:08

That could explain much

Fennel Thu 13-Jun-19 19:22:21

Like trisher Iv'e just read Grace'sGran's post on the last page, and admit it went over my head.
Some of us are less sensitive than others.

Anniebach Thu 13-Jun-19 14:30:43

Thank you trisher well played ?

trisher Thu 13-Jun-19 14:02:56

Just read GracesGran's post Annie I suppose having patience could be seen as conferring some superiority. It was after all one of the virtues and therefore something which made a person better.

Anniebach Thu 13-Jun-19 13:50:21

It takes one poster to start unpleasant exchanges of posts , you are fortunate not to be on the receiving end of that one
poster Iam

Iam64 Thu 13-Jun-19 13:47:10

Eloethan, thanks for reminding me it’s wiser to avoid getting embroiled in the exchange of irritable, often rude, exhchanges between the same individuals.

Thanks POGS, this is such an important issue. It’s true of course that home is the biggest influence as children grow up. That adds to the reason for school, youth and sports groups to seek to provide a wider perspective

Anniebach Thu 13-Jun-19 13:12:35

ttisher sorry I can’t help, I have never known a superior human being, GracesGran does, perhaps you didn’t read her views on superior human beings

Bridgeit Thu 13-Jun-19 12:58:34

.??trisher, did you actually read my post?

trisher Thu 13-Jun-19 12:12:49

Bridgit do you not realise that the two are inevitably linked that poverty and inequality lead some to rascism and intolerance because they think others are receiving better treatment. That the arrival of refugees, immigrants, or other strangers into their communities means they see those people as being treated better than they are. That the absolute poverty and the appalling conditions in other countries brought these people to our country anyway. So thinking dealing with one problem means ignoring others is entirely untrue.
Annie as I don't know any "superior human beings" I am unable to comment but if you tell me who they are I will try to find out more.

POGS Thu 13-Jun-19 11:34:35

Eloethan/Iam64

I agree with you both over the subject of the content and method of what is being taught re LGBT issues in schools and the points you have made. Had the content being taught to infants been of a more sexual nature then possibly I too would feel it was unnecessary and a step too far at such a young age but my understanding is that is not happening.

Eloethan:-

"The recent television series about British Asian (primarily Muslim) and British white children swapping schools, demonstrated quite clearly the sorts of prejudices (on both "sides") that were already very apparent. They were older children, but this distrust would have been built up over childhood."
----

I watched the programmes on the ' pupil swap' between the 2 schools in Lichfield and Birmingham and whilst it came as no surprise, at least to me, the stereotypical views re race, gender etc etc the children held were openly on view and undeniably due to cultural influences which are for the most part obviously formed within their respective homes.

Bridgeit Thu 13-Jun-19 11:26:41

We will never ever have equality, children are still starving, humans don’t have a roof over their heads, clean water , any say in what happens to them ...... the list is never ending , there is a big bad world out there.
There are so many issues to tackle ..... we who are not so badly off , should get over ourselves & look outwards at the bigger inequalities! Instead there is too much focus on being miss monikered ! Really!
