GGMK3, I believe it is GnHQ who adjudicate if they perceive a post has broken Gn ethos/ rules ,but it seems you have taken it upon yourself to do it for them. Agree or disagree but it is really not for you to police others posts.

If one thing is sure it's that people who post regularly on the politics threads are perfectly capable of deciding when and what they want to post and don't need any help from you or me. I certainly haven't said anything about any rules but yours is a standard comment we see when people have nothing left to add to the discussion. I have made an offer, corrected a misconception and explained why I disagree with someone. All that comes within the rules as far as I'm aware.

Because it isn’t a discussion Iam, it’s been a game for most of the thread ,how to insult but stay within the rules. Loads of epistles very little discussion

I tried for discussion many times Annie but scroll through the thread no one is willing to discuss the realities of the situation. They much prefer to post accusations and so-called evidence which has very debatable foundations. Question this evidence and they simply use insults In the end there is nothing to do but reply in kind.

I do not insult posters trisher , I post facts about Corbyn

Bridgit one of the questions I have posed on the question of anti-semitism is why the IHRA definition was adopted by the UK as it stands when a parliamentary sub-committee recommended additions for legal clarity (post on pg 17) Now it seems to me that by not adopting the proposed additions the UK has actively encouraged those who believe that there are Israeli forces influencing such decisions. It's not something I subscibe to but I am sure there are others who imagine such things and every effort should be made to destroy such ideas.

So an Israeli official casually walked into the Labour Party conference and offered a £1m bounty. The embassy received a list of names sent by Joan Ryan.

This is not a conspiracy theory we have seen video evidence. It’s not anti-Semitic calling it out.

I agree with the poster who said there is a sort of Macarthyism going on at the moment. Any expression of disapproval of the Israeli goverernment's actions will bring about a bombardment of loud accusations of anti-semitism.

Well, that's obviously ridiculous. I, and many others, have criticised MPs who have accepted lavish travel arrangements and hospitality from the Saudi Arabian government. There was also much criticism of MPs accepting similar "perks" from the Sri Lankan government, following disturbing reports of the alleged massacres of Tamils.

What these countries have in common is the serious - and commonly acknowledged - abuses of human rights which have occurred, and, in some cases, continue to occur. The nationalities or religions of the majority populations in these countries is not the issue - the behaviour of their governments is. Disliking and strongly criticising the mistreatment of ethnic and religious minorities and women in Saudi Arabia doesn't suggest hatred of people of Arab descent or Muslims. Respected political commentators such as Peter Oborne has often stated that Saudi Arabia uses its strategic/military/ economic power to influence British governments. Why is it OK to say such a thing about Saudi Arabia or any other country but not about Israel?

I have looked back over my posts and other than suggesting Bridgeit doesn't play the "fragile" card I cannot see where I have laid down any so called rules. But Annie has. Where people have tried to expand from the obsession with Corbyn we are told no, you may not talk about antisemitism in general, no you may not discuss the new IHRA definition, no you may not discuss the role of the police. You must come back to the title which is yet another of Annie's anti-Corbyn rants.

And yet so many of us are worried about religious and racial discrimination. We are concerned that all is being done but what do we hear about? A woman who like clicked "like" in a video without checking out each and every comment. That is so ridiculous that I cannot see why we have to give it any time whatsoever and yet we are dragged back to this nonsense time and time again.

I abhor racial and religious discrimination but that was not why this thread was set up and we are not going to be allowed to discuss it in the round. There is just one reason for this thread and there are some who will try and bring us back to it however interesting it gets by discussion the subject in full.

Bridgeit you apologised for going off topic, perhaps mistakenly I thought this meant you wanted to engage in a real discussion. I wouldn't exxpect a detailed analysis but perhaps an opinion?
I personally find it very worrying that of the 31 countries involved in the discusssions of the IHRA definition only 8 have so far adopted it as policy. I believe that this is to do with the legality of it and the clauses that it was proposed were added would have helped. It seems to me that any fight against anti-semitism requires at least a definiion that most countries can use to have any hope of success.

This whole thread just goes to show that religion is the root of all evil.
If you meet a stranger, in general, you have no idea of their religious beliefs. Why then would knowing those beliefs cause you to have a different perception of that person?

GGMK3 and Trisher Actually, Jews are not only a religion, they are an ethnic group (whether secular or religious), according to The Race Relations Act...this from HoL Select committee on Religious Offences:

".....The Jewish community is covered by the provisions of the Race Relations Act .....which recognises the Jewish and Sikh communities as distinct racial groups. Subsequent cases brought before the courts have upheld the ruling. As a result, the Jewish community is afforded protection against incitement to racial hatred"

I have a wide range of opinions and I'm not really aware of what’s going on in Israel, only what I glean from the media. Do you?

Catholics shouldn’t be attacked for the actions or positions of the Vatican, Muslims should not held responsible for terrorism, then Jews should not be conflated with Israel.

It's when JC was recorded as saying ..."Zionists don't understand English irony..." as an ethnic Jewess I found that extremely insulting and hurtful. He is not fit to be a leader, let alone the future PM, on that quote alone. He, and his minions, are dangerous.

As for conflating democratic Israel with the theocratic absolute monarchy that is Saudi Arabia, where women don't have equal rights and where you can be stoned to death for being gay, there is no equivalence.

I have only seen post after post on the many relative threads that clearly show posters clearly acknowledge expressing disaproval/criticising the Israeli Government is NOT antisemitism.
