Labour anti-semitism

I was going to copy the whole of this article but it is simply too long. Sadly I know that means those, whose only intention is to constantly set up or add to threads out of spite and malice towards one person will not read it.

It is not necessarily my opinion. I do not know enough to have formed a solid opinion but I worry about all states that want to set themselves up for only one "race" whatever that race is.

I hear much the same from the racist and hate-filled anti-Islamic posts I read on another forum that come from those who associate themselves with either the Tories or, it used to be UKIP and is now the Brexit Party or, indeed, their great glee in having 'joined' both. They want 'England for the English' or 'Britain for the British' and what they think we should do in order to get it doesn't bear thinking about.

I totally believe in the existence of Israel and that international law should apply both to protect it and hold it to account. I also believe in all our anti-discrimination laws and that they apply equally and without exception to everyone.

I have never believed that any form of apartheid was right however and I find it really difficult to understand why any country just for one race is not an apartheid state. I feel really saddened, although I can sort of understand why the reply to an attempt to create an 'Aryan nation' brought about the feeling that an only Jewish nation was the answer but I would question if it actually is.

I would also question trueblue's statement that "So if someone is anti-zionist, it usually means they don't want the existence of a Jewish state." I imagine there are some who feel like that just as there are some who have very extreme views of what Israel should be but I doubt that everyone who is concerned about the path that country is treading has any wish for it not to exist.

I would march against any form of apartheid, white, Nazi, or whatever and I strain to see what difference there is in the views of a small number of some who are pro-Israel.

Boris Johnson the leading contender to be our next Prime Minister has described Muslim women wearing traditional dress as "Looking like post boxes." A well thought through comment that will undoubtedly enhance ethnic harmony in this country, I am sure.

Once more living up to his given title of Boris (The Buffoon) Johnson.

And in his recent anti semetic attacks he said someone within the party was working secretly with the Israeli embassy .

Why can't all the Muslim community use the Mo Salah example of unity ? He's loved in Liverpool for bringing home the prized cup to a city which he also loves. You'll find lesser of a divide in Liverpool than anywhere else in the country.

dinahmo Zionism means the establishment and development of Israel. It's basic tenet is to accept that Israel should exist as a Jewish state.

So if someone is anti-zionist, it usually means they don't want the existence of a Jewish state. The only democratic state in the Middle East.

So anti-zionism IS seen as anti Semitism. Even if someone agrees with the existence of Israel, the over concentration of criticism and vitriol against Israel as opposed to real pariah states in the world, makes it so obvious.

The UN has 48 resolutions against Israel and only 2 against countries like Syria & North Korea. Makes one wonder!

Britain’s largest Muslim organisation has called for a formal investigation into Islamophobia in the Conservative Party.

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) sent more than 20 pages of evidence to the Equality and Human Rights Commission in the wake of the government’s refusal to adopt a proposed definition on Islamophobia.

Its complaint accused the Tories of “ignoring” calls for an independent inquiry on anti-Muslim hatred and failing to take action against Islamophobes in its ranks. Boris Johnson, who could be the next prime minister, and MPs including Bob Blackman, Zac Goldsmith, Michael Fabricant and Philip Hollobone were named in the dossier.

Harun Rashid Khan, secretary general of the MCB, said: “The concerns of Muslims at large about Islamophobia within the Conservative Party have fallen on deaf ears. We have taken this step after an unprecedented number of cases have been brought to our attention, suggesting a culture within the Conservative Party where Islamophobia is not only widespread, but institutional. We now request the EHRC to look at all the evidence and investigate this matter with great urgency.”

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), requested more information from the Conservatives on Islamophobia earlier this month.

No Free Speech isn't being denied. Peter Wiseman (sorry if I have his last name slightly wrong) isn't an MP but he's part of the national executive. He was censured for anti semitic comments some months ago, apologised and said it wouldn't happen again. During a discussion with an American author, he made comments implying that the Israeli embassy was behind allegations of anti semitism in the Labour Party because they want to undermine Jeremy Corbyn. He's been suspended, quite rightly, pending investigation.

The Labour MP who recently said that he thought that the Israeli Embassy was whipping up a lot of these anti-semitic accusations of the Labour Party, has been suspended. Why? It's ridiculous that he cannot say what he believes to be true, without risking his job and being called anti-semitic.

And it seems to me that free speech is being denied here!

I have told you on more than one thread Anniebach and I had some very cross words years ago as she defended Corbyn and the Labour Party to the hilt and did not believe antisemitism was a possibility in the Labour Party.

Some people just look and listen to what surrounds them and find their opinions and beliefs have altered.

Where your point falls flat on it's face is there was a thread called ' Islamophobia in the Conservative Party ' to name just one.

You are a prevalent poster against the Conservative Party and Conservative individual MP's on the ' 'copious ' anti Tory threads. Along with other posters who like yourself feel the Labour Party should be somehow be out of bounds for debate, ( a case of ' Do as I say not do as I do ) when the thread subject is the Labour Party I have to ask why you cannot accept ALL political parties are debatable on GN whether we as individuals like it or not.

Given antisemitism in the Labour Party has been discussed on GN for 3 years and it is as current an issue to date I think it warrants to be kept in focus . Islamophobia in the Tory Party equally if and when evidence is provided should be debated too. As for ' political point scoring ' that can take various forms ..

IMV, all this plus the continuing NI debacle, clearly shows that religion is a force for evil, each thinking theirs is the one true faith.
If it weren'/t so abhorrent it woukd be laughable. A man-made situation through and through.
Even the vestments worn by one of the the clergy at the recent visit of Her Majesty and Donald Trump to the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, would keep a 'disadvantaged' family for many months or even a couple of years.

There wasn’t racism in the Labour Party, the party had been the home for Jews for 100 years. Ed and David Milliband both up for leadership. So many good Jewish MP’s for so many years, respected , admired, loyal to the party.

I long for that broad church to come back and I will not join the ya boo the tories are as bad which I truly believe is used to distract from any talk of anti semetism in Labour

Grandad, I agree with your comments about what seems like a growth in all manner of racism, islamiohobia, anti semitism, homophobia, I’d add misogyny to that list but I’m sure there are other forms of bigotry and oppression we haven’t named but acknowledge live amongst us.
My impression is Annie tends to focus on anti semitism within the LP because of her longstanding involvement and support for that party.
The LP has been the traditional home of so many in our Jewish communities who feel disenfranchised. Of course I’m aware they’re one section, others in their community remain at ease with and support the LP.
The broader issue is the rise of extremism, with its hatred of ‘difference’.

Anniebach, there have been continuous and widespread complaints about Islamophobia in the Conservative Party, as you well know.

The Tory party executive refuse to state just how many complaints in regard to the above they have received and continually refuse to set up even an internal inquiry into the issue.

However, as i have stated in my earlier post, Islamophobia, antisemitism, homophobia, and general racism resides in all sectors of our British society. Therefore, to accept that in a political party or any other organisation is to accept reality.
