so, as many of us expected- Trump has made it clear today that privatisation of the NHS must be on the table as part of a Trade Deal. And so are animal and bio safety and wellfare- and so much more.

How can that be 'taking back control' as desperate for Deals will be at his beck and all, with our begging cup - and not just him, China, Russia, India and others (with 1000s of visas - talk about limiting immigration ...) sad

And still they will say 'Project Fear' sad

Those in the Brexit believer bubble think the NHS will be getting £350 million a week so no deals needed. That kind Mr T and lovable Nigel don't want a piece of the NHs do they?

as everyone keeps saying that the NHS needs more money throwing at it every year,

The NHS has deliberately been kept short of money by the tories so that they can say that state funding isn't working and sell it off.

One thing we can be pretty sure of is that the pharmaceuticals will go after the NHS. They have been trying to break the price restrictions put on the drugs by the NHS. Drugs in the USA are a huge price.

The US ambassador signalled this in an interview on Sunday. They will cherry pick the sections that are most profitable. Heaven help us.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 04-Jun-19 20:37:53

No - we want to leave Europe and THIS. Is what it will lead to.

Is everyone aware that our blood plasma supplies are owned by a Chinese company. The Chinese bought it from the Americans who bought it from the uk.
So even if the Americans buy any of our NHS services there's no telling who's hands they are likely to end up in.
'We' wanted globerlisation. This is where it leads to.

Labaik Tue 04-Jun-19 20:30:21

...and how long will that be....?

Ginny42 Tue 04-Jun-19 20:19:07

Hancock has come out and said the NHS will not be on the table on his watch.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 04-Jun-19 20:11:52

That’s because she’ll know how it will play out in the country. She has always known the score and brexiters have tried and will continue to keep a lid on the implications of the deal if they possibly can, or at the very least put a good spin on a very worrying situation.

This is totally messing with my head. What on earth has the NHS got to do with Trump. I couldn't believe my ears or eyes when I saw him on TV.

TM looked grief stricken.

Interesting too that if we do anything with which The USA disagrees like Mexico, China and Others they will slap tariffs with no thought for WTO rules.

GillT57 Tue 04-Jun-19 19:41:07

For those still in denial about privatisation of NHS and Farage's involvement; a year or so ago during the tragic case of Charlie Gard, the then leader of UKIP was appearing on US television saying that cases like this only happened with a socialist health care system. Still happy to support him? For those who deem everything that does not back their own view, I am sure I can find a link if you can br bothered to read it.

I don't see a problem with American firms competing to sell their drugs to the NHS as do other companies elsewhere, or for them to offer private medicine schemes, if people wish to take them up.

A trade deal does not mean selling off the whole of the NHS to the USA. That's ridiculous. For a start it would be a very unprofitable business, as everyone keeps saying that the NHS needs more money throwing at it every year, so what company would want to take that on!

But what about the poor people, everyone will cry! However, with over 70 million people ( probably a lot more than that which is not admitted) living here and the UK population increasing by hundreds of thousands every year as well as unlimited people from abroad using our NHs for free, I don't know whom you think will pay for the NHS to continue for free at the point of delivery for ever.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 04-Jun-19 19:21:14

Oh yes! How’s the court case going?

Parsley3 Tue 04-Jun-19 19:19:40

Yes, the NHS will indeed be an attractive market for the USA. Why would they not want to include it in a deal?
We are sitting ducks.
But as trade deals take years to complete what are we going to do in the meantime? That promise on the side of the bus is our only hope.............?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 04-Jun-19 19:16:51

Everything I listen to about our relationship with the USA today, post Brexit is telling me that we will be much the weaker partner. It is so worrying.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 04-Jun-19 18:53:06

Trump must be the only businessman in the USA who doesn’t know what the nhs is. We can be dead certain that pharmaceutical companies, medical suppliers and health insurance companies amongst others have their eyes on what is seen as a very lucrative market.

DoraMarr Tue 04-Jun-19 18:46:56

From the guardian today:

“When you’re dealing on trade, everything is on the table. So NHS or anything else. A lot more than that,” he said, although May appeared to have to explain to Trump what the NHS was before he answered the question.

A No 10 spokesman said only that there was a review of the Huawei plans under way and declined to say whether the NHS could be part of any trade deal.

Thank goodness we are still members of the European Union and not at the mercy of this chancer.

We need to Revoke Article 50 asap.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 04-Jun-19 18:37:36

There was an American commentator today who said that the U.K. will inevitably be in a weaker position post Brexit and might find it difficult to defend the NHS from the vested interests in the USA

Ginny42 Tue 04-Jun-19 18:35:52

Beginning to smell the Arabica anyone?

Dinahmo Tue 04-Jun-19 18:30:48

Length of time taken to produce a trade deal. Sometime after the referendum a trade negotiator was interviewed on the Daily Politics. She said that it had taken 7 years for a trade deal with Canada to be agreed and she demonstrated the height of the document - around 8 inches. She also said that there are insufficient experienced personnel in the UK to negotiate such deals.

Parsley3 - Trump said that it could be on the table and when pressed, said that it would be.

annep1 Tue 04-Jun-19 18:30:14

Just heard this on the news. Shocked. I so wish we could stay in the EU.

GillT57 Tue 04-Jun-19 18:29:38

Oh for heavens sake. Some of you need to wake up and smell the coffee. Also I am not a 'leftie' nor am I scaremongering. I truly despair. Sticking your fingers in your ears and singing la-la-la may be how you deal with important issues but it will let you down eventually as will Farage.
