Trump's idea of a negotiation is the other parties to the deal doing everything his way.

Well, Donald Trump certainly told all in the UK that the NHS is the price Britain will have to pay for any trade deal with the United States.

Ha ha ha ha ha. Now that is scaremongering.

And which prime minister or secretary of state for health is going to be the one to sell it off then.

This is definitely a popcorn moment as the Project Fear machine cranks up again.

Perhaps this might be a good place to repost the 2016 interview with the former head of the WTO:

I think he'll know a thing or two about trade negotiations hmm

So far I have read that "The NHS is on the table" in relation to the USA being able to provide life saving drugs for patient uses at cheaper prices. A saving to the NHS.

Hmmm. A different perspective.

Well, Donald Trump certainly told all in the UK that the NHS is the price Britain will have to pay for any trade deal with the United States.

I wonder how those that support Brexit and the Farage dictatorship known as the Brexit Party have to say about that. Farage has many times demonstrated in his past words and deeds that he has little regard for the NHS.

How long does it take to negotiate a trade deal?

The answer to that might well be "How long is a piece of string?" grin

The 'experts' I follow usually reckon it in years. I suppose it depends on how desperate one of the countries is to do the deal. Of course, being desperate puts a country at a disadvantage in negotiations. I really can't see that countries that already have a deal with the EU market of 500 million people are going to be falling over themselves to do a deal with a country that has only 65 million potential customers. Certainly not on the same terms...

This disaster is exactly what many 'experts" were talking about

Can you confirm GillT that 'this disaster' IS a fact please.
I am very surprised I haven't seen the 'breaking news'

as many of us expected- Trump has made it clear today that privatisation of the NHS must be on the table as part of a Trade Deal.

What?

I haven't read that. Really? Dealing involves a two way exchange.

We can say no. If it's not a deal then it's bribery, and he would be called out on that, surely?

I shall look for links.

Is this a fact, or some Remainer scaremongering? Could you point me to a link please?

Someone commented recently that we are signed up to over 700 trade deals of various kinds through the EU and we will have to make a decision to renegotiate or leave everyone.

How long does it take to negotiate a trade deal? And how long will it take to reconsider and renegotiate anything up to 700hmm

GillT57 Tue 04-Jun-19 16:14:21

Not a lot of comments from leave supporters so far? This disaster is exactly what many ',experts" were talking about and they were dismissed. Just what will it take for people to realise this is a huge mistake? We keep being assured by Brexit supporting politicians that people knew what they were voting for, so did anyone on here vote for a privatised NHS? Makes Johnsons red bus lies even more so.

It is very worrying but not unexpected.

Here is what Dr Paul Hobday says in video about our NHS and how you can help.

Watching our country disintegrate is like a slow creeping death. All the gains of post war Britain are being gradually eroded so that the less fortunate will become even more without. The Market isn’t the solution now and it never has been for the majority of the population. Now we look as if we are on the road to being the next state of the USA.

Yes, it is certainly a fearful future for many, me included

so, as many of us expected- Trump has made it clear today that privatisation of the NHS must be on the table as part of a Trade Deal. And so are animal and bio safety and wellfare- and so much more.

How can that be 'taking back control' as desperate for Deals will be at his beck and all, with our begging cup - and not just him, China, Russia, India and others (with 1000s of visas - talk about limiting immigration ...) sad

And still they will say 'Project Fear' sad
