Well, there's 10 left in the race to be our next Prime Minister and voting starts tomorrow.

Who would you LIKE to be the next leader of the Tory party?

And who would you BET on?

Elvive Fri 14-Jun-19 11:20:55

yes Blinko, me too.

M0nica Fri 14-Jun-19 11:19:42

Callistemon Does that count as real life? Brussels has been, until recently merely an annexe to Westminster.

"The way for politicians to allay their anxieties about leadership debates is to have as many as possible.
"So you can make a cock-up in one and say something sensible in the next. So that's the way to do it."
The interview was part of Sky's campaign to make sure debates happen.
Twitter users have been sharing the video as a reminder to Boris Johnson about the claims he made just ten months ago.
Presenter Tamara Cohen said: "Remember this? @BorisJohnson backing Sky's campaign to Make Debates Happen. He says: 'My feeling is that they are essential....'"
Tory councillor Thomas Kerr wrote: "Common sense from Boris here, take it we'll see him take part in the #ToryLeadership debate on Sunday then ....."
Twitter user @BevansFur ysaid: "Yet more flagrant hypocrisy from the biggest buffoon in British politics."

No Annie; and I agree with a lot of what you say about Corbyn. But everything that happens or is written about you turn it into an anti Corbyn tirade. A weak opposition has fuelled the crisis that this country is in and I hold Corbyn responsible for that and am very angry about it.

Anniebach Fri 14-Jun-19 11:00:47

Labaik are none of Johnson’s misdemeanours from his past ? And surely comparing one party leader with a soon to be party leader isn’t sniping

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:54:43

ginny42 ????

FarNorth Fri 14-Jun-19 10:54:31

Rene72 I'm sorry you're having an awful life with an obnoxious bully.
I can't imagine he'd improve whether Corbyn got in or not, tho.

Ginny42 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:51:18

One man's cringeworthy is another man's sound common sense.

Labaik Fri 14-Jun-19 10:47:18

Why are people happy to bring up everything that has happened in the past but then happy to ignore all of Johnsons misdemeanours/lies etc? Annie; I agree with you about Corbyn. As a Labour voter [till now] I've always regretted the fact he was chosen as leader, but your constant sniping at him is uncalled for.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:47:14

I don’t think any of us thought that the country would be gripped by such madness.

I’m beginning to wonder how far more we have to fall.

Blinko Fri 14-Jun-19 10:44:12

I think Boris is probably a manipulative narcissist. It's hard to tell through the continual bluster. Having said that, don't most MPs lie at some point, or at least change their views over time?

Saying this, at the grand old age of 72, I have never before lain awake at night despairing that this country is on the road to disaster. I hope I am wrong.

Callistemon Fri 14-Jun-19 10:44:08

I said not long ago that Boris would never be PM.

Must polish my crystal ball, it looks a bit smeary.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:42:18

I can remember in something like 2015 the big joke at which we all merrily laughed was that a Trump would be running the White House and Johnson would be PM??

Callistemon Fri 14-Jun-19 10:40:41

Good God, a privately educated, Oxbridge graduate, who has spent the whole of his adult life in the the hot house of political London.
M0nica didn't he spend years in Brussels as a European correspondent, the author of many Euromyths?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:40:09

annie I knew I was on a loser but I live in hope. I guess as long as you keep the stalking confined to GN it is doing no real harm.

Margs Fri 14-Jun-19 10:38:22

A pity Mister Blobby isn't in the race, but failing that why not Blundering Boris?

Imagine.......Donald Trump running the White House and Boris just running amok.

And they say you can't make it up.

Callistemon Fri 14-Jun-19 10:36:01

Larry the cat is the best candidate-and he lives at Number 10 already!
Larry is rather like the Queen - sees Prime Ministers come and go grin
He has a few years to go to catch up with HM though.

Callistemon Fri 14-Jun-19 10:34:06

^Johnson is avoiding tv interviews, reminds one of Corbyn
who refused to take part in any tv debates during the referendum campaign, he even went on holiday.^
Oh, I wonder if Johnson thinks that is a good tactic, then - be enigmatic and you will win.

Anniebach Fri 14-Jun-19 10:32:51

And all I did Whitewave was gently refuse your request

Labaik Fri 14-Jun-19 10:31:12

So Ch4 are going to leave a chair out for Boris. Perhaps they should put a tub of lard on it...I understand it was Boris who said these debates were great and everyone should take part. He seems to have forgotten that everyone can now access most things that people have said/written over the years...

Anniebach Fri 14-Jun-19 10:29:38

Petra I asked Elvive the same question, she chose not to reply

petra Fri 14-Jun-19 10:27:45

Elvive
We once had a poster by the name of Lilly65. She was often sneery about Urmstongrans apartment in Malaga.
Have you picked up the baton as Lilly65 seems to have left us.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jun-19 10:20:43

I’m not arguing with annie I see no point. All I’m gently suggesting is that you keep to the correct thread so that we don’t have to read the same thing over and over for 2 years now????.

Elvive Fri 14-Jun-19 10:19:11

"We don't expect our politicians, our prime ministers to be saints, but we do require a basic level of morality and integrity."

Anniebach Fri 14-Jun-19 10:16:08

No Whitewave. truth is truth and should not be stifled , once a belief in the Labour Party, sadly no longer
