"The way for politicians to allay their anxieties about leadership debates is to have as many as possible. "So you can make a cock-up in one and say something sensible in the next. So that's the way to do it." The interview was part of Sky's campaign to make sure debates happen. Twitter users have been sharing the video as a reminder to Boris Johnson about the claims he made just ten months ago. Presenter Tamara Cohen said: "Remember this? @BorisJohnson backing Sky's campaign to Make Debates Happen. He says: 'My feeling is that they are essential....'" Tory councillor Thomas Kerr wrote: "Common sense from Boris here, take it we'll see him take part in the #ToryLeadership debate on Sunday then ....." Twitter user @BevansFur ysaid: "Yet more flagrant hypocrisy from the biggest buffoon in British politics."
No Annie; and I agree with a lot of what you say about Corbyn. But everything that happens or is written about you turn it into an anti Corbyn tirade. A weak opposition has fuelled the crisis that this country is in and I hold Corbyn responsible for that and am very angry about it.
Why are people happy to bring up everything that has happened in the past but then happy to ignore all of Johnsons misdemeanours/lies etc? Annie; I agree with you about Corbyn. As a Labour voter [till now] I've always regretted the fact he was chosen as leader, but your constant sniping at him is uncalled for.
I think Boris is probably a manipulative narcissist. It's hard to tell through the continual bluster. Having said that, don't most MPs lie at some point, or at least change their views over time?
Saying this, at the grand old age of 72, I have never before lain awake at night despairing that this country is on the road to disaster. I hope I am wrong.
I can remember in something like 2015 the big joke at which we all merrily laughed was that a Trump would be running the White House and Johnson would be PM??
Good God, a privately educated, Oxbridge graduate, who has spent the whole of his adult life in the the hot house of political London. M0nica didn't he spend years in Brussels as a European correspondent, the author of many Euromyths?
Larry the cat is the best candidate-and he lives at Number 10 already! Larry is rather like the Queen - sees Prime Ministers come and go He has a few years to go to catch up with HM though.
^Johnson is avoiding tv interviews, reminds one of Corbyn who refused to take part in any tv debates during the referendum campaign, he even went on holiday.^ Oh, I wonder if Johnson thinks that is a good tactic, then - be enigmatic and you will win.
So Ch4 are going to leave a chair out for Boris. Perhaps they should put a tub of lard on it...I understand it was Boris who said these debates were great and everyone should take part. He seems to have forgotten that everyone can now access most things that people have said/written over the years...
Elvive We once had a poster by the name of Lilly65. She was often sneery about Urmstongrans apartment in Malaga. Have you picked up the baton as Lilly65 seems to have left us.
I’m not arguing with annie I see no point. All I’m gently suggesting is that you keep to the correct thread so that we don’t have to read the same thing over and over for 2 years now????.
