Not acceptable to leak documents contravening Official Secret's Act - treason indeed- and as WW2 says- because it puts UK security at risk.

I think the paper would say it was in the public interest (that's what they usually come out with). It is fairly obvious it wasn't. I am biased because I don't like IO's attitude or her political stance but they do need to find out where this came from. There is talk of more on Sunday.

Isabelle Oakshot knows who leaked this. Do hope MI5 or is it MI6 are interrogating her.

An American ambassador has just said that the US is bullying the U.K. and getting away with it.

It seems that Boris has lost a lot of any respect he had managed to claw back over his cowardice on this. So the EU hold him in no respect and probably a large number of his own parties MPs share that view (again). How on earth can he be our PM?

Conspiracy theories / the kangaroo court will inevitably be believed and made by some but until it is factually established who , what and where the leak came from then that is all they are , ' conspiracy theories '.

' One ' conspiracy theory will probably be true but the rest will be nothing more than rubbish talk.

The person/group behind the leak are being forgotten at the expense of a journalist who is doing no more than her job. That job may or may not suit at times , I am thinking Guardian / Wikileaks who would not divulge their informant and the damage that episode caused worldwide, happy to be corrected

Whoever is behind the leak, indeed ANY leak, if it is a civil servant or politician they should be sacked immediately and if they have signed The Official Secrets Act or similar then it's about time this country started to take that seriously and act according .

Leaking information is a time old problem but there is it appears a big problem at this moment of time. This particular leak is wilful in it's aim of causing damage to the relationship between the UK Government and another friendly country and the person/ group behind that leak are dangerous to the UK and must be found and no doubt they will.

As for Trump I think he would have been thought better of if he had not responded as the person behind the leak hoped he would. He fell for ' the game '!

It is also a fact the UK is not the first nor probably the last
Government/Country to have embarrassing comments made known/exposed and America has had that problem too. The way it is handled is through diplomacy and that is where Trump fails miserably and he is too thin skinned but the fact is derogatory remarks will cause problems and whilst any country should be able to speak honestly through their Embassadors it is wise to think what /how can this information get out and what must we do to stop that happening.

In my simple mind it's the person who leaked the information who should be found and punished.

I don't know about Oakeshott's information about Banks. She has caused a diplomatic incident with her article leaking confidential reports from the British Ambassador to the USA; no information there that most people hadn't worked out for themselves, no :'the public has a right to know' but meant to be private. Don't know why one hundred people will have had access to it, mind you, but they will all be under suspicion, fingers will be pointed and a very unpleasant atmosphere generated. Meanwhile, she will be laughing all the way to the bank, untouchable.

Aiding and abetting is clearly punishable in UK Law - this is even more so if this is done for personal and financial gain, and doubly so in the case of Government business/elections, etc - when it does become an act of Treason.
